I hate the script, and the cliche'd plot within.
You have actually seen the original series and movie, right?

It also makes no sense. The analogy doesn't work. Changing the GI Joe's to postal workers is make a complete change. Last time I checked, Optimus Prime was still a badass truck that turned into a robot.![]()
The G1 designs would have looked like ASS, I repeat: ASS, in this film.
More faithful interpretation than what we got, okay. G1? ASS.

With today's technology? I disagree.![]()
If they were shooting a full CGI movie, that's a different story. You're talking about constructing a a movie entirely different than what this movie was though. That goes a little beyond character design.
Disagree all you want, it'd still look utterly ridiculous.
Well, we'll disagree on that point.
Since someone brought up Batman, if in a film featuring that character...if his costume was changed completely to something rather different, and the only thing left in intact was the bat ears on top so he could still be called Batman...I doubt people would find dissatisfaction with that as a friviolous thing.
Batman has to be one of the worst analogies that's come up.
Bruce Wayne doesn't transform into a ****ing semi.

DarkMajin...you are going to be in the minority with your thinking. There are VERY few people across all the Transformer boards who would agree with you. Now if you had said that modernized designs with more resemblance to G1 designs would be better, then I would most definitely agree with you...but direct translations would look severly dated and unrealistic.

Heh, I've noticed that. It could be G1 pure or G1 slightly tweaked...which would mean a more modernized and sleeked up look of G1.
My thing is that the characters should be recognizable is all.
Firstly, I wasn't a great fan of the character designs in this movie... and aesthetics is indeed part of it.
But the advocating of designs much more in-line with G1 cartoons is simply beyond erroneous thinking. Prime's cartoon look is pretty much laughably stupid outside of the cartoon context. It is crude to the point of idiotic. Need proof: Takara Masterpiece Prime. Greatest Transformer figure ever crafted, and I own it. But he looks NOTHING like a REAL semi when transformed. It's easy to ignore when you're in the fictitious cartoon world. It's not so easy when you put him into this world.
Man, some fanboys really live up to their reputation. They completely trash the movie before hand and now are orgasmic it didn't totally suck. When Michael Bay is heralded as a great director fanboy opinion is pretty much worthless.
LOL. Watching the praise for this movie (for me personally) is like watching George Bush win the election all over again. I'm like "WTF are you people smoking?"

Hahaha... is it really THAT bad?
PS: Bush didn't win.
...and I am hoping, praying for a better writing team and director.
