I did not read any of the post from other people here (So forgive me if I hit some points already discussed) but after seeing all the pics posted on this board as well as the new TV spot... I just gotta post my beef with the upcomming movie:
First off: Crying baby Micheal Bay posted that he is tired of internet cry babies bashing Transformers...
Ask yourself then, Micheal: "How come I get so much negative reviews of my work while Sam Raimi gets great praise and cheers of exitement on the net for his upcomming spider-man 3; as he did for the previous installements?"... Could it be that he is doing something RIGHT (i.e.: Doing the original source material justice) and you are NOT, Mr. Bay???
Let's face it: NOTHING of what has come out so far about the movie (And ALLOT HAS come out) looks remotely close to the G1 material. The robots are akward looking (To say the least!!!), virtually none of them are of the same or of a similar vehicular model as the originals. Many of them weren't even part of the original series. And, worst of all: NONE of them look cool!!! You would think that if you were going to change a major part of a concept: It would be to make it better (Not worse!!). Lets face it! When the "Fan art" posted on the official movie site turns out better then the film makers' concepts: There is a HUGE problem there!
Just look at Starscream: He looks like a freakin' GO-BOT!!!! (There is a reason why those ugly things went extinct and transformers lived on, you know!) And what is whith all the extra, useless, facial and "gear-like" details? Ever heard the phrase "Less is more!"? Strangely, the robots were made to generally look less "human", yet there faces were made to have more facial expression (Why? To make them more human-like? All of a sudden?).
It saddens me, because: For decades I, like many others, dreamt of the day when the technology would be advanced enough for Transformers to be a live-action movie... And now that day will never come! Because whatever it is that Bay, Spielberg and Dreamworks are working on: It is not Transformers! And now: No one will be able to make a true Transformers movie after it.
It is a currupted vision of none fans that were just looking to make big bucks with a big flashy name (Reminds me when the "Dongeons and Dragons movie came out only for everyone to realize that it was made by people who despised D&D fans and turned it into a parody of everything geeky they could find in the original game).
And, in the process, they are raping millions of peple's childhood, including mine... The dream would have been for Sam Raimi to direct and Mainframe Entertainment to produce the movie; at least they know how to respect source materials and to adapt it to more modern times.
I will, of course, go see the movie: But neither Spielberg nor Bay will get my money from the ticket sale; I'm looking forward to buying a ticket for another movie and sitting down to that one (Just to be able to give a true and informed critique of it).
... OH! Just one final note to Micheal Bay: You are tired of Internet Cry babies? Well, the Internet cry babies are tired of over-rated directors who couldn't make a good film even if there life depended on it!... So I guess we are even!
ahhhhh! It's good to vent sometimes!

)... Actually, CFlash's theory about somebody slipping Go-Bots tapes to bay (And Speilberg+Dreamworks) sounds like a valid explanation..! Could be that non of those involve realise that the two franchises are actually seperate entities!... And that one of the two sucks big time!!!!
