Wow, I can't believe I never thought of that. He could very well use another Tumbler, which would get no complaints from me. I always kind of expected a slightly new design.

But what about the batpod? I'd like to see both again.

He should still have the Batpod around, and yeah i never thought about there being more "Tumblers" at WayneTech, so dont bother with a new design just bring it back.

Terrific point, I wasn't even thinking about a different design. If Wayne Tech made numerous tumblers, they probably have other variations. That way it will still be the tumbler but a tad different as well

If Alfred were driving a normal jet to Hong Kong then it really would not have even been a bat-plane at all.[/quote]

Who said anything about a normal jet?

And obviously, were they to bother with the "bat plane" angle, they wouldn't have it onscreen for just 15 seconds. At least a minute or so. And I think it would still be worth it to show he's not reliant on outsiders as much. Plus it would make Alfred that much more of a badass.

How is Batman flying a plane cheesy when him driving a car or a Batpod isn't?

I said a normal jet b/c Batman... and Alfred... and Lau could not fit in a regularly portrayed batwing:o

With all of those people traveling roughly 20 hours from Hong Kong to America(Gotham), the only thing they could feasibly ride in would be a large jet. And a large jet is just that, a "normal plane." And the only thing that could be used to make it more batman like would be to paint it black...and a normal black jet still wouldn't look a single flip like the batwing. I think the idea is simply unfeasible. If Bruce and Alfred were looking for something to ride in, at the very most they would have just used a new plane from Wayne Tech(think tumbler, it's not a batmobile). The only way they could possibly have gotten a batwing of any sort is if Bruce waited around for Lucius and Wayne Tech to make it.

Nolan did the right thing- there was absolutely no point to have a 'batwing' flying to Hong Kong. Now if Batman were established and already had a batwing in his arsenal it would be more understandable, but that is not the case. On top of this, the bat plane would need gadgets and weapons. None were on display nor necessary for the Hong Kong scenes.

And I don't think the batwing is cheesy, I love it(assume you referring to someone else)

I said Batplane.

So basically, if one lacks the imagination to conceive of a different type of of plane that
could fit three people AND fly across the world...without being a cargo plane...or stopping for gas...then The Batplane simply isn't feasible.

Got it.

Who says they have to have made the entire trip at once?

Why would the Batplane (Batwing) need gadgets and weapons? And since when is a skyhook not a type of gadget?

I get that it's not neccessary. A lot of things in the new Batman movies aren't "neccessary". I'm simply saying that it would have been a nice touch, to see that they considered the fact that Batman would need occassional air transportation, and took steps to obtain it. VS. dealing with South Korean smugglers, who we never got to see. Hell, I would have been okay if they had used a plane from Wayne Enterprises for non company business.

Well Nolan did not do this in TDK so apparently........yeah.:o

I think he will just stick with the Bat Pod hopefully but i really like the Lambourghini Design a few pages back

Isn't Nolan the fellow who originally had to be convinced that Batman needed a cape?

I've heard this too, but without a definite source, it's most likely rumor.

I want to see a Bat-chopper. Hasn't been done in any of the films (Other than the Adam West movie) and is completely practical. A jet? Not so much.

As far as the Tumbler, I'm a bit bored with it. It's had it's chance to shine. Bring on a sleeker Batmobile like the Anton Furst one from 89. There's so many ways you can go with it. I've never really been a fan of the tumbler. It's like the Bat-tank not the Batmobile.

Yeah, I'd like to see what we've already seen again too.

Let's make that happen.

I said "like" not exact. Geez. Pretty much every Batmobile in the history of Batman has had a sleeker look to it. The Batmobile is the Batmobile just like Batman is Batman. How different do you want Batman to be? Take his bat ears off and no cape? That's different and never been seen. Doesen't mean it's good does it? The Tumbler was just too much of a departure IMO.

And villains dying by falling. We've not seen that before.

You know...I've never really thought about that before.

Burton's Joker - died by falling
Burton's Catwoman - 'died' by falling
Burton's Penquin - died by falling
Schumacher's Two-Face - died by falling
Nolan's Ra's Al Ghul - died by falling (or careening off the end of a train track)
Nolan's Two-Face - died by falling

Villians rise but always have to fall in the end. :woot:

It's not just Batman movies, it's action movies in general.

Hans Gruber in Die Hard
Dick Jones in Robocop
Skeletor in Masters of the Universe
Emperor Palpatine in Return of the Jedi
Alec Trevelyn in Goldeneye (finished off by falling satellite)
Max Zorin in A View to a Kill

List goes on and on. It's definitely a favorite.

That's true. The 'falling death' of a villain is always very symbolic.
