Didn't it get delayed to add more Channing Tatum?

And 3D.

They can literally film a whole new movie in that time.

They really can't. Maise's schedule is extremely limited for the the summer. I am willing to bet her schedule is the main issue here, since they have to shoot around her AGOT schedule. And who knows what is up with the other cast members. It sounds like they are doing more than the planned reshoots, so finding that time is difficult. And unlike FF, they aren't under a time constraint.

Ok, this movie had a trailer long before a Deadpool trailer and a Dark Phoenix trailer, and now it will come way after them ... And yeah, reshoots it's the only reason I see for this.
If reshoots are happening I hope the film doesn't completely change. But that is most likely what will happen.

I know. I'm just making a point as to how long the delay is and the fact that filming and post production took pretty much the same amount of time.

Huge delay!

Wonder what's going on, especially if impacting separate films.

Thing about making it scarier makes sense and I guess the delay would be the best fit for their movie schedule while fitting in all the actors' schedules? That's all I can think of other than them Han Soloing the movie.

The last movie I remember being moved almost an entire year so close to original release date was Jupiter Ascending. And before that HP 6.

It's possible that with have no chance of a trilogy, this time is needed to reshoot making this film stand alone.

This can't be good news. The trailer is out, it is supposed to come out in three months and it gets delayed ten months... Ten freaking months/next year! That's crazy.

10 months is a long time to push a movie back, even if it's a question of quality requiring reshoots, even special effects, and this was a practically driven film effectswise, as I recall. This isn't a massively budgeted tentpole type thing like BATMAN VS SUPERMAN...just odd.

What was it going up against on the original release date?

You've got to wonder if this has to do with the Disney acquisition.

Or...OR...maybe they've been secretly filming X-Force and will be releasing that instead.

Yeah. Not only that, but they now added Deadpool 2 just after Infinity War? Why? Overlapping? Lol

Exactly! Lmao!

You don't delay a movie for ten months, when principal photography was done and the first trailer already came out months ago. Fox is obviously not confident with the film for a 2017 release. Anyway, its not a lost. Teaser trailer is mediocre to me.

Well, can we put a stick in the turkey at this point because the chances of this movie being good just went down by like 50%.

IMO, they should just release it asap. The reshoots would be costly as I imagine it would be major reshoots and no way MCU would include this into their world next year and let it continue with a sequel. IMO, its gonna be a 1 and done. It doesn't even look faithful to the source material.

I can't help but wonder if this has anything to do with a possible introduction in the MCU. By the trailer, it seems to be a very isolated story. And in the beggining Cecelia asks "do you know what mutants are?" (which is at least weird if this movie is indeed in meant to be in the same timeline of the rest of the X-Men movies and mutants are known since the 70's).

Maybe they're making changes to a possible introduction?

I'm hearing bad things from people. Barely anyone outside of seriously hardcore X-Men comic readers have any idea who or what the New Mutants are. Combine that with the "horror" aspect and a general confusion and disinterest from the average moviegoer, and you've got a perfect recipe for failure. While Fox now understands these issues and are actively trying to fix this mess, I'm afraid that all the happy go lucky reshoots they can muster up won't save this one. Very sad.

^^^^ So this person (who was attacked for telling lies etc) was right after all.

How can they do that though? They can't really legally do anything with the MCU until the merger is complete.

I'm of a few minds of this. Regarding the whole "Movie isn't scary enough" thing. I mean who truly says or decide that? Is it because of focus group testing? Considering the movie was due out in a few months originally, one would assume there are some near finished cuts of it that audiences were probably seeing. I mean, were test audiences saying that Alien Covenant was scary enough? A movie that mainstream audiences by and large rejected and did disappointing box office numbers.

I don't believe for a second this is because of overlap distribution. I fully believe they are going to try to reshoot or reformat the movie. And maybe audience testing wasn't going well. That I can believe.

It's weird though since there seemed to be a lot of positive reactions to the trailer, and you had spartan on here going nuts and demanding a trilogy or he would riot :)

I believe the reasons, but the third reason is probably so its not connected to the current universe of the X-Men films.

Maybe they are changing it so it can fit within the MCU?
