Its not a coincidence at all.
For the record, I posted about this situation, including the reshoots & the reason for them several days before anyone had heard or reported anything. Then people doubted me and called me a liar. Then it was announced that New Mutants had been delayed for ten months. One hell of a coincidence isn't it....
Assuming for the sake of argument that everything slugzilla said is true, that comedic take doesn't sound good to me at all. So, whatever else might be the case, thumbs up to Josh Boone for killing that thing.
I know I'll get attacked by some here but I do wonder if Boone being a huge fan of this property initially pitched this as something more like the New Mutants comics and then the powers that be turned it into a non-X-Men related horror story set in an asylum. It's just a curiosity of mine.
Why didn't they just stick closer to the source materiel for New Mutants? Have it connect to the present day X-Men and have them be students of Xavier instead of them being in a mental institution. Were they that hellbent on remaking Nightmare on Elm Street 3?
Right. The most ridicolous part is that his treatment is a:
R-rated movie with probabily the biggest budget ever for a R-movie.
Than Boone came and said "No Fox, i don't wanna all that money, gimme very few. And I wanna make an horror. But please don't let me to be totally free with the R-rating, i wanna a pg-13"
and sure Slugzilla can say movie is very bad, but he cannot say nothing about the actual story?
(and even if he is really what he said, another things the seems strange is that all 'zilla said that the movie was bad. ok. but the only reason he gave for that is that the movie was different from his treatment. No words about Boone's style, easthetic, pacing, acting...)
You know something that we don't, that much is clear. Doesn't mean that I have to believe everything you say though, now does it? I'm sorry but that "early draft" sounds completely ridiculous. For the record, I posted about this situation, including the reshoots & the reason for them several days before anyone had heard or reported anything. Then people doubted me and called me a liar. Then it was announced that New Mutants had been delayed for ten months. One hell of a coincidence isn't it....
Well I think I'm going to have to hang up my leaking boots for a bit, as I think I may have shared way too much about my experience working on this movie and I'm actually starting to get a bit nervous about some people's jobs. I Hope everyone enjoyed getting an inside look from my point of view, but I've got to stop for now. I might be back in a little while if I can find a certain something I have buried away somewhere safe and drafty. (After the heat hopefully dies down).
Peace out for now.
Wait everyones believing this insider knowledge?
Right.
If this was the treatment Fox was going with then they had a correct to the comic adaptation ready then Boone whos supposedly a big fan of New Mutants came along and changed it. Yeah right. You all say how **** Fox is with X-Men then why would you believe they wouldve had a treatment for New Mutants ready like this?
Very doubtful. Even if it was a bit different and Boone changed it theres no way Fox were gonna go with a big budget, sentinels, mansion destroying etc all just for New Mutants.
Because Deadpool was Comedy, Logan was western and now the New Mutants is Horror.... Fox trying to do different genres in cb films just for the sake of it. The first two though just stayed true to the comics and wasn't a reinvention. Had they done that to the New Mutants, it could have been better.
If Slugzilla truly did any type of work on the film, there's a good chance he was not allowed to leak any of the stuff he did reveal on the forums and probably signed agreements as such.
