Apocalypse Nightcrawler in the Apocalypse Movie - Part 1

Kodi is looking really, really good as Nightcrawler . I'm really loving his look.

He looks like the mutant version of Troye Sivan. Quite an interesting idea actually

Have we heard anything about a Mystique/Nightcrawler storyline? Thought I read somewhere that Raven will rescue Kurt from somewhere.

You did, and she takes him to the school which explains why he is at the school

She probably will recognize him

Bit on nightcrawler

The last time we saw Nightcrawler was in 2003’s X2, where veteran actor Alan Cumming portrayed the famous blue-skinned teleporter. Now, Kurt Wagner aka Nightcrawler is back, this time as his younger self and played by Kodi Smit-McPhee (THE ROAD), who offers some insight as to where he drew his inspiration for the character, how he’ll appeal to fans, and what Kurt’s feelings are toward Apocalypse. So, what can fans expect from Smit-McPhee’s Nightcrawler?

“I believe we kind of get to see the side of Nightcrawler that we love so much in the comics,” says Smit-McPhee. “The more vulnerable, swashbuckling, joyous, random, personality that we love, but also so grounded in his faith at a young age as well, as we went with the choice to still have the designs. So, it’s a mix of ideas, but uh, something that I believe is pretty faithful to what the fans enjoy and, um, something that I can kind of relate to as well, so…”
Smit-McPhee also addresses where he got his inspiration for Nightcrawler and whether or not he drew from Cumming’s performance.

“…A lot of people would ask if we looked to their performance for any inspiration, but I think the beauty in it was being able to refer to the Marvel Universe itself and what fans love so much about the characters and being able to bring back the younger versions of them, I think it’s a great place to expand to and actually you’re going backwards, so that’s pretty cool.”
With such a massive threat on the horizon with Apocalypse, Smit-McPhee says that Nightcrawler starts in one place and end up at another, much like his teleportation skill, when facing the big bad and his own fears as a mutant and an X-Man.

“I’m sure Nightcrawler, he’s kind of scared of his own shadow at this point, so he’s probably pretty terrified. Through everything he does in this movie it’s kind of, as we say, the stepping-stones of becoming the brave hero he is.”

I wonder if his role in this film is as big or as small as Alan Cumming's role in X2.

I'm surprised no one asked about the Nightcrawler/Mystique connection in those interviews.

Same. Even more weird since every set report has talked about the Quicksilver/Magneto and Cyclops/Havok connection but not a peep about Mystique/Nightcrawler.

As I said I think that one is a tricky one to do because mystique isn't likely settle down and be his mother and him finding out she is his mother may take away some of his own self mystery that makes the character who he is so it may be worth hinting but not actually having nightcrawler ever find out

I wouldn't be surprised though if mystique shows some subtle recognition of him when she meets him, I am pretty sure Bryan will throw something on there in her interaction with him

I love the comment about using teleportation as a metaphor for his character starting in one place and ending in another. The X-men are their best when powers actually mean something.

This guy was soooo annoying in that Planet of The Apes movie. I'll pray for him in this role.

All of the humans sucked in that movie.

I'm not worried for that. I think Bryan Singer have good handle of Nightcrawler after X-men 2 and will do him brilliant.

I wonder what Nightcrawler's origins are now because usually he is the son of Mystique's and Azazel's Son

I thought they might make Nightcrawler the son of Mystique and Azazel when i saw both of them in X men first class but it seems like Nightcrawler is near the same age as Mystique

Nightcrawler is 16 to 18 while mystique would be around 40 or something.

Chances are mystique and azazel are meant to be his parents

I'm thinking maybe Nightcrawler/Mystique will have the sort of Quicksilver/Magneto moment from DOFP and then they'll reveal it further in future films, when Kurt is even more a main character. Even if Mystique isn't in the next movie, or in it much, it can be revealed somehow.

What?? You cant be serious its very apparent Nightcrawler is a teenager in this movie and Mystique has been around for awhile so im very confused.

I think dark claw x21 was referring to when Nightcrawler and Mystique interacted in X2. I don’t know, it's just a guess.

But I hope they do hint at Nightcrawler being related to Mystique and/or Azazel or say it (maybe at the end in a similar to fashion to Marvel 1602 where Mystique/Magneto asks Charles to take cake of their child and not to reveal their true relation to each other or have a similar moment to Magneto and Quicksilver like in Days of Future Past ). But I am excited to see Nightcrawler actually end up more alongside/joining the X-Men than the original prequel handled it.

Did you watch begin of First Class (1944), and did you had math?
Mystique in 1983 is about 45-50 years old.
Nightcrawler is no more than 20, if Azazel is father.
