I don't care much either way. Is it kind of weird? Sure. Does that make it good? Probably. It isn't just another story of Jean showing up and blahblahblah. People whine too much. "ONOES IT'S JEAN WAH WAH WAH" and more crying ensues.

If it IS Jean, if Jean's resurrection either saves or damns the future, that's a great storytelling possibility, right there. What if Bishop IS right? What if Jean aging and growing up begets some horrible cataclysm that screws up the mutant race? What if both Bishop and Cable are right? How does that even work?

It's stuff like that that makes Cable one of the best books on the stands. Legacy and Cable, for sure.

You're assuming she'll even GET to grow up.

What if...and this would be seriously twisted...they actually let her age naturally (as in she gets to live and to grow up...)? That means it may take twenty-thirty years before we find out if she's Jean or not. Now THAT would be great. Get us all tuckered in to the idea that we'll never know...then BAM! LOOK, IT IS JEAN.

Sorry, this just amuses me so.

I like to ascribe to the theory that just by being born and surviving the baby has already done what she was supposed to. Maybe it's the IDEA of her that saves the future. She's the hope/cause of something, but not directly. She's the reason the X-Men or somebody, does something that saves the future.

Also, I do have to admit that Cable and that baby are tres cute together. Especially in the recent "peeks".

It's possible she won't get to grow up. I think, though, that they can't establish Cable's ongoing him as the permanent protector always with baby in tow and on the run from Bishop. Eventually, something's going to have to happen, and I don't think it can involve Cable abandoning her.

They've promised us we'll get to see something happen with the baby. It's the intrinsic promise embedded in the premise of the ongoing and the end of Messiah Complex. They haven't, however, promised us what. I can see two-three arcs of Cable protecting her, depending on length, maybe shifting into some examining of what the future holds or could hold. Then, it comes down to what happens between Cable and Bishop, ultimately. If he kills Bishop, then they can end it with letting the baby grow and stand on her own, and Cable can leave her somewhere probably with the knowledge she'll be okay (if him leaving her alone is what damns the future, well, even better). They could let her get killed, too.

They can't leave it hanging, though.

True...

Except in a non-hanging, hanging way.

As in, we never find out the "big thing" that she's supposed to do, but Cable makes sure she's somewhere safe and somewhere she can grow up without pressure. Thus, they're seperated and she passes from the line of sight for a while (comic wise). Maybe he even leaves her in the future and returns to the past.

There's just really so many possibilities here as to what can happen.

I think you may be right. Legacy and Cable may just be two of the most interesting comics being published right now.

Of course I'm right. I just wish other people around here would figure that out!

I like you.

the art on that image is horrible. Those X-factor costumes are among my favorite and they look bad here. WTH is up with Beast there? Storm is looking chunky and Cable looks about 70

That Colossus is ********! Where are the muscles? Arrgh
There's a muscle there. Look. It's a little bulge. No, Spoons, not THAT kind of bulge. And look, he's just not all oiled up and patting his wrestling buddies down in that picture, okay? There's nothing wrong with it. Maybe he's off DA ROIDS. Triple H should get off DA ROIDS too. Or Steiner!

Hahaha, my first look at it, yeah, I totally noticed Old Man Cable.

There's an arc for you, Millar!

...WTF is that from?

*agrees with Havok*
It's the "present day" artist of Cable #6.

I love your optimism. I'm all over Cable, not sure why I'm still reading Legacy though; although the way the last one ended was pretty crazy

Yeah yeah, you punk. I'm tired of Pete being 5000x smaller than Thing, Strong Guy, and every other powerhouse. Even freakin Warpath is bigger then him when some artists draw him. I'd love love love love to see Colossus in X-Force since that guy thinks Warpath is the biggest guy ever.

Because it's the best title currently published, with the exception of Cable. That's why you're still reading it.

You're finally coming over to the side of the light, Spoons.

Uncanny leaves me with a much better feeling than XML

As I've said time and time and time again, subjectivity has nothing to do with a value of worth. It has to do with a value of like, which is opinion.

Uncanny is a feel good book. It has funny lines and it has an artist who has pretty pencils in Mike Choi. As I've termed it elsewhere, though, it's average at best with a writer who knows better but doesn't produce better on it.

Legacy, on the other hand, fulfills the criteria of a story, and Carey does so exceedingly well.
