New Excalibur #24 will arrive in stores on Oct. 17 from Marvel Comics. The issue is written by Chris Claremont, with art by Jeremy Haun and a cover by Billy Tan.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"'Battle for Eternity.' The sun never sets on the British Empire, but Albion has ushered in an age of darkness. He has neutralized all technology in Britain, reducing the island to a pre-industrial state. His corps of Shadow Captains has cemented his control and now serves as the standing army in his war against Roma and the Captain Britain Corps. Excalibur is the only hope to overcome this threat, but what chance do they have with a traitor lurking in their ranks?"

New Excalibur #24 will be 32 pages and cost $2.99

Dazzler looks like Rachel with pink hair on that cover and thats not a good thing

Hmmm...I think 24 is the last part-since the whole Albion situation seems to be resolved at the beginning of Die by the Sword 1!Looks like an interesting endgame, though!

Brian's surprised that Albion is a dimensional variant of himself? Has he been Captain Britain for only five minutes or something? Half the bleedin' Corp members out there are alternate versions of him...

*nods*That had me blinking, too...most of the Corp IS Captain Britain alternate versions of either him or Betsy-I recall at least one of them who was a Betsy Braddock/Captain Britain!*shakes head*Maybe his surprise is at the fact Albion has chosen the sword AND he is a deadringer for him?He might have thought all his alternate versions would make the same choice as he did?

The other thing about his surprise and general dumbfoundedness about the whole albion extravaganza is his statement when he discovered albion was someone who had chosen the sword. He's all "my god, we never thought to check. never realised" or something. Doi! You're the guy who made Kelsey Lionheart and gave her power even though she chose the bleedin' sword! You're a prime example of the thing you're surprised about. Man, I love Captain Britain as a character and a hero. But he hasnt half been written poorly this volume.

The last issue of the damn thing?! How in the hell do they keep messing this up? Give me the bloody job! Who wrote the poopfest that was Genosha Excalibur? He screwed up big time too whoever it was.

I can only hope that the events of Die by the sword (as **** as it is that the bad guys are Jaspers and the bleedin' Fury again) result in a pooling of the more sensical members of each team that operate out of Otherworld with the Crystal Palace as an observation post.

Line ups - what do we think they should be? (not from every member there has ever been on either team please - just those involved in die by the sword)

Captain Britain, Psylocke, Morph, Blink, Sabretooth 295, Dazzler
Gives us Raw power, leadership and Symbolism, Teke and an established positive relationship for fun moments, humour and adaptability, leadership and transportation, fighting ability and edginess, energy manipulation (and they need to wrap up this resurrection business).

This was easily the worst issue of any comic book I've read all year. I was speechless when I finished it.

It was just(allow me to say this as eloquently as possible) "****ing boring". There were a lot of things that just didn't make sense too; like Sage fighting herself and inflicting physical damage for one.

I hope Juggernaut turns up soon and Sage gets back on an American X-team. Everybody else can fade off into limbo for all I care.

Heh, well, you might either be pleased or pissed to learn that Sage is joining the Exiles.
