Comics Official CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI:13 Discussion Thread

I really wanna get back into that book, so I'll def read the first issue. But that's good news

Previews for die by the sword #2 are up on the continuum.

Can't believe I thought this was going to be a solid ending and new beginning for the new teams. A chance to address the Betsy not telling Brian she's alive again thing, and for the Exclaibur members who dont really fit to make their excuses to leave the team.

But this? Jesus! Betsy is a freakin' ninja, one of the better hand to hand fighters in the 616, and not only is she unable to fend off a total of twenty guys (like hell are there more than that there), but she has to get bailed out by Sage?! Who has the martial arts prowess of nothing?! The woman uses guns for cryin' out loud! And not because she prefers them, but because she is a subterfuge and guile person who shoots on the sly rather than sneaky sneaky judo chop. And! And - Teke anyone? Did Betsy lose her powers again or something? And Brian who can take a cruise missile to the chest without bleeding is dying in a pool of blood from one shot from the girl in a leather iron man costume with pigtails?

Hmm...Sage is joining the Exiles?Might I ask if we know anything about what happens to Longshot? As far as I could tell from Die by the Sword #1, there is still unfinished business between him and Dazzler-though, honestly, no clue how that can be resolved, since she clearly thinks he's dead and he doesn't remember her anyway!:pI can see her joining the Exiles, though, for some reason!

X-Men: Die by the Sword #2 will arrive in stores on Oct. 24 from Marvel Comics. The issue is written by Chris Claremont, with art by Juan Santacruz an a cover by Jelena Kevic-Djurdjevic.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"Psylocke's reunion with her brother, Captain Britain, takes a turn for the worst when the diabolic minds of several of Excalibur's greatest foes decide that one world is not enough to conquer. The Exiles and Excalibur must join forces to save crosstime before all of creation is destroyed!"

X-Men: Die by the Sword #2 will be 32 pages and will cost $2.99

I find it funny that one "BAM" is stopping us from getting a full shot of Sage's bammy if ya know what I mean.

Surprised no one has picked up on the very last page, sayin this last issue was the last one.

Well, my guess is they're just droppin the "New" from the title, since we've known for a fact for awhile now that Paul Cornell is taking over the book.

You do know she'll still be CC's part-time pet, eh?

Can't help but wonder what a CC book with two full-fledged Claremazons will end up like. Yikes.

Come on!!!!.... Does'nt anybody else want a strong British superhero team?????
I think the reason it fails is bc its so far away from the rest of the action which is in the US, mainly the NY region. Its the same problem the original Excalibur had as well. Bc of this, its pretty much irrelevant to most as its isolated in its own world. Doesnt help that the title hasnt had the best writing either

I don't think location has anything to do with it. Come on, it's not like any of these heroes can't go wherever they want to go at the drop of a hat anyway. It's bad writing that's to blame.

no it means New Excalibur isnt included in the crossovers. Their characters dont pop up as often in other books and vice versa. For that reason its a second string book which Marvel doesnt particularly care for, at least not like ther other X-books. But you are right in that bad writing is also to blame. I didnt feel the original Excalibur was a good book until Ellis took over. He did wonders with it while still keeping it overseas

Yes i agree about Ellis he was great on the book, also the team had a geat lineup that it has not got now.

I haven't read any of the latest Excalibur run or any of Exiles...mainly because I haven't heard good things about them, except that Exiles used to be good.

That said, Excalibur has been good at certain points in the past...it seems to always have been hit or miss, as well as an acquired taste. An X-team in the UK isn't bad in theory...and I wouldn't mind Psylocke being on that team if they were able to make Excalibur as viable a "cousin title" as X-Factor. I'll believe that when I see it though. I guess I'll stay tuned to this topic in the hopes it'll happen.

Psylocke should have been a member of Excalibur. The only reason she isnt with the X-men bc CC has dibs on her. If he had to have her, he should ahve put her on NE and help boost that book up. She doesnt belong in Exiles. At least she has ties to the NE cast. Her being there would have made sense
