Yeah, I think Martian Manhunter will be great under Paul Cornell's pen in Stormwatch. But on the flipside, it does seem a bit strange that the whole idea behind this Johns/Lee Justice League is, "At last, the iconic superteam is fully reunited," only for you to then arbitraly trade out the last of the Big 7.

I'm sure he's aware. He just thinks it's stupid that he's leading Stormwatch and not in the League. That is because he is sane. :o

It really doesn't bother me that J'onn is leading Stormwatch. I really like the idea of integrating WildStorm into the DCU the same way Quality, Fawcett, Charlton, Red Circle, and Milestone have.

I just find it stupid how Batman can be on TWO Justice League teams along with having FOUR ongoings or how Guy Gardner can be on Earth with the Justice League International and in space the Green Lantern Corps, yet J'onn is apparently too busy leading Stormwatch. I really don't get how comic book publishers act as if one character is too busy doing one thing and yet Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, and Wolverine can go off doing a bajillion things at the same time.

J'onn not being on the League is just a flat out crime. I'd willingly trade Cyborg away for J'onn.

Well, to be fair, there's at least a story reason behind it. He's in a secret clandestine organization that has been covertly saving the world for, decades probably.

Yep he is like a green space-y James Bond that fights evil moons :ninja:

So how about we remove that America word from this thread?! :p

If Stormwatch's methods and philosophy remain the same as ever, I can't see how J'onn would fit with them. He's a pretty stalwart, bright and shiny hero-type. I'm more concerned with the creators twisting J'onn around to make him fit with Stormwatch than anything else.

Maybe Stormwatch's methods will be different after the relaunch so it will make more sense for J'onn to be there

The whole Superman VS Batman that is never a true real fight concept has been done to death. So while I will be picking up the JLA series I wasn't excited about the solicit for issue 2. If they wanted to show that the team had trouble getting along it would've been better to show 2 different members duking it out.

Here's how the Justice League #1 begins as Geoff Johns has told us, but hey pretty art:

Is anyone else reminded of All Star Batman and Robin when they see this? I can't be the only one, but yeah Johns said the comic begins with Hal Jordan asking what are Batman's powers and whatnot. :p Then in #2 they meet Superman and we know from Johns that Green Lantern will check out Superman as he's the sector's guardian and Superman is an alien, but honestly how can that ever end up in a "fight" i mean in a DC world it would go like this:

Batman & GL: So who are you really Superman?
Superman: A friend.

Batman: Okay theres this ancient evil menace, can you help us?
Superman: Absolutely, friend.
Batman: Wonderf.... *Batman gets possessed by the curse of Batfans*
Batman: I'm the god damn Batman, blaaa blaa blaa whaa wha my paaaareeeeeeeeeeeeeeents
*Batman jumps at Superman*
Superman: Ah you so cute when you're mad, oh yes you are!

Really i can't see any bigger pay offs with this unless Johns wants to show how paranoid Batman became the best friends with every Leaguer Batman in the 2nd arc.

I'm hoping that J'onn is Stormwatch's moral compass.

Issue 2 is when they explain why he would be on that team though I think. And...man why couldn't they just stick with the Brightest Day look? That was his best look yet. Like Gleason's Aquaman, it was a simple adjustment of a classic look for J'onn.

I think it's just kind of established at this point that writers just do it as kind of a pseudo-tradition. It would be interesting to see conflict between two other members, but I can't for the life of me think of what would bring any of them into any real fight. At least nothing good. Maybe Wonder Woman and Cyborg? I'm a woman, and you're a minority, there's just not enough room on this team of white males for the both of us!

Anyway, you know, for some unexplainable reason I'm just not all that excited about this as I thought I would be. It's the Big 7 back together (well, Big 6 plus Cyborg, so Big 7 more or less with emphasis on the less). I like Johns. I'm not his biggest fan or anything, but Lee is alright. I've been waiting for a fresh new JLA title for a long time. But, man, I'm just so damn apathetic to the whole thing I'm literally surprising myself.

So far nothing about the JLA solicits has impressed me. I'm stl going to check the series out but I really hope its better than the solicits make it sound

Aquaman's there, and I've always wanted to see Lee draw more of Aquaman since he briefly drew him in the For Tomorrow Superman arc...so I'm happy. There was some interview where Johns mentions Aquaman being the leader of the JLA way before a reboot was even revealed so I'm curious how that goes down too if that is still to be the case.

Aquaman leading the league would be fab and yet I'm almost certain that even if he lead the JLA people would still think of him as just the guy who talks to fish :csad:

First Look: Batman #1, Justice League #1, Action Comics #1

It's so funny to see Jim Lee not only draw Batman vs. Killer Croc again but also bad mouthing Hal Jordan, Batman #1 kicks off with explosive action that tributes and cameos fan favourite villains from Circus of Strange to the Clown Prince of Crime, the Action Comics shows us the man of tomorrow is truly faster then a speeding bullet. :)

You gonna get enough of this character chasing crap. You'll end up with a lot more duds than gems.

EDIT: I now re-read and found the explanation. Makes sense now...and in a nutshell Robinson bit off of something Martian Manhunter did to defeat Despero in the JLDetroit days. With alterations of course with the people behind it being Alan Scott, Saint Walker, and Starman.

Well, it's a f***ing terrible tradition. The Hulk vs. the Thing, Reed Richards vs. Dr. Doom, Thor vs. the Silver Surfer: these are great rivalries because the characters are pretty evenly matched in their main power/skill and you're on the edge of your seat wondering who's gonna come through as the winner.

Superman vs. Batman is stupid because they're woefully mismatched (and, up until the relaunch, they were total BFFs) and you don't wonder who's gonna win so much as brace yourself for it--if it's Superman, it's obvious that he should've easily won, and if it's Batman, it's stupid because it requires the writer to come up with some lame contrivance so it'll make the barest hint of sense. Theirs is a terrible rivalry that's a chore to sit through every time. It's just sad that not only are we being forced to sit through it again, we're being forced to do so in the second bloody issue of what was supposed to be an 'all-new' take on the JLA.

Rather, I should say you'll be forced to sit through it because I've already decided not to waste my money on this s***.
