I like the designs of the ships. Finally something different and clean.

Would anyone be able to post a large HD screencaps of the ships from the trailer? I could barely make them out on my PS3. It's my only means of internet access and it can't play a youtube video clearly to save its own damn life.

So after having seen the fantastical/sci-fi elements in HD quality; do you guys feel that the "Real World" look that was shown prominently in the first teaser looks like it'll be meshing well with the elements mentioned above as shown in the newest trailer?

It worked incredibly well for me.

There's something disconcerting and surreal about seeing all these "other worldly" events taking place in a very contemporary setting. In terms of tone alone it raises the stakes substantially.

That to me shows that it was a smart decision going in that direction. Know what I mean?

:lmao:

In my head I imagine Wayne using the "Where's dah trigger!?" voice on him when saying "Where the hell were you!". :funny:

Oh yeah; i totally agreed. I can't begin to explain on how much I've wanted to see a version of Superman where the world that he was presented in felt very much as our own real world since it just makes going along with the journey for those said 2 Plus hours that much more compelling as a viewer.

the music from the first part of the trailer sounds so much like gladiator i was expecting young clark to yell at the kids after he saved the bus " ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED"

Not sure if this has been discussed yet, but in the beginning of the trailer when Martha is telling Clark to focus on her voice, is this Clark discovering his super hearing? Seemed like while he was in closet he was covering his ears cause he was hearing everything.

It does mesh well. I said in another thread that it reminded me of the ships in District 9- that very realistic setting with these fantastical elements. And Snyder is really going for that shaky cam feel and looks to be focusing on the "science of Superman"- ie. the physics, a more believable portrayal of his powers e.g. his takeoff.

That looks to be the case. He is overwhelmed by his powers and Martha helps him focus.

In earlier set reports there were stories that Clark was having trouble as a kid dealing with his powers:

They were filming a scene in the hospital where the Kents were taking a young Clark in for a checkup. Kevin Costner was on set, as well as two boys who were playing young Superman. The scene included breaking of windows on the front of the building, a fish tank, a gumball machine, a mug as well as windows on the Green 1970 Nova and the station wagon all as a result of young Superman letting out a Super Cry.

I think it meshes well, without losing the contrast that is so impactful.

It's something most of us oldbies have been throwing out in the discussions post-SR. I too am glad they are finally using that approach.

Underrated shot from the trailer – Superman hugging Martha.

Actually, in terms of plot speculation, no one has brought up that one shot where it looks like Clark on a boat throwing a net, onlt to have a shooting star-but-not-a shooting star flash from the night sky, close to a down touch off screen. Anyone know the shot I'm referring to?

Saying the reaction to the trailer has been overwhelmingly positive is an understatement. Just look at the like to dislike ratio on its YouTube premiere.

Best case scenario in terms of promotion just occurred to WB.

the trailer is very good.

Yeah, I do. This may just be a rumor but I remember reading something to the effect that...

In the movie, his fortress of solitude is actually a craft belonging to Jor-El. Maybe that's what the shooting star is?... maybe this scene is about what draws Clark to the Arctic.

Could be mistaken about all of that

When and which movie do we think trailer #3 will be attached too?

And will we get a superbowl spot?

Great trailer. Definetely got my expectations up for this movie. Better than the first teaser trailer.

i always want to see a trailer made from the viewpoint of the general folks in the metropolis... listening and seeing their experience of encountering an alien (MOS).

Donner's Superman did this well and it's always good to see the public reaction to the first appearance of Superman. We will see what they do in this movie. But what we've seen so far is Superman in handcuffs...

Ah...Pa Kent wanted Superman to let a busload of kids die rather than reveal his identity.

That kind of sucks. Hopefully this isn't too po faced.

I like the look of Cavill in the costume though.

They should be releasing tv spots around the time Iron man and star trek come out.

The last trailer should be around mid march are early april.

As was discussed previously, this could be before Jonathan reveals to Clark that he is an alien, and shows him the ship he arrived in, in the barn.

Jonathan would be worried about his son taken away or ostracised if it is revealed he is an alien/different. Therefore he doesn't want Clark to interfere with human affairs, even in life or death situations. Because that would place a huge burden on his son. He is protecting his son.

We will have to see how Jonathan comes across in this movie, and how he feels about Clark's decisions.

I'm glad they shortened/streamlined the dialogue; it had sounded clunky, redundant and unnatural in the comic con trailer but sounds much better now.

I really hope the movie is not as dour as the trailer makes it look. Wish he would smile or show some kind of personality besides angst.

Watching the Comic con trailer a buttload of times really dampened my enjoyment of this trailer. Also not a fan of the holier than thou music they used; preferred the con music much more.
