:funny: My God, are you just coming to this now? :p
Yeah, I'm sorry, I missed this one too. What's next, huh? All of our most popular superhero actors are British? Don't be ridiculous.

Most of the main avengers are American except for Thor though. So at least we have them. :p

Hehehe, and they ARE SUPPOSED to be a multicultural team of people from around the world (and beyond). :o

Wow, just read 20 pages of this thread straight through. Do I get a prize for that? After seeing trailer #3, I was truly inspired. I have never seen a better trailer regardless the type of movie.

Since Superman has always been the only Super hero I have invested my emotion in, (Nolan's Batman a distant second) I am obviously very biased in my comments. My great love for Brando, Reeve and the Donnerverse will always be number 1, but actors like Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Amy Adams, Diane Layne and possibly Henry Cavill may bridge the thirty year drought for a comparable "modern" Superman film. It is obvious the MOS screenplay will touch on all the STM tones, however I believe it will be much more deeper than a simple retread. Do not assume the similar themes we have seen through the trailers will be a lazy remake. I feel there is much more depth here.

As far as the score goes, it is time for the great John Williams theme to retire just as the Donnerverse has. I have listened to the new trailer theme multiple times and find it FANTASTIC. Remember that this is not the main theme. I could not think of anyone on the face of the earth I would wish to compose this score other that Hans Zimmer. I am excited how WB has put this all together. Slowly but surely "hopefully" their marketing plan will be successful and we will have a new Superman for the future. A Superman that can truly take the torch from the two great Donner films.

Wow, that's really cool on the Robin Hood thing, even if I'm the last person to find that out. :woot:

And those 2 Robin Hoods are turbo charging the gravitas on this film. Phenomenal casting!

I love this trailer so much that I even like watching the reactions on youtube!
they're really funny, only superman makes grown men act like they're 5

:D that's my hero!

Other potential spoilers, courtesy of Cosmic Book News:

*"Kal-El's ship is its own entity." and Lois finds it during her quest to find him.

*The voiceover of [Lois] in the trailer is the montage from the end of the movie with the final word being "Superman" (It's very similar to how The Dark Knight ended).

I hope it doesn't end that way. It needs to be its own movie and not try to copy TDK.

I read about this new trailer having like a trillion views on the web already... But I was wondering, how does one ramp up those numbers??? I mean, the trailer is linked all over the place on youtube and elsewhere. So that number must be a lot_higher than the one taken from just one source, right?

There's a debate going on on another forum.

Is Superman himself CGI in this shot?:

I say no way... And I'm honestly surprised anyone thinks he is. What do you think? ( ;) )

EDIT: Oh, and to be clear, I think it's a combination of the odd angle, the struggling motion of the arm and expression, and the blue energy CG around and OVER him that's making it look weird to people... But it IS him. :)

Seriously, when I first saw the above moving image in the trailer, that's EXACTLY what I thought - that it was CG... Sorry to say. But it don't bother me much, cause everything else looks 110% amazing!

I really think it is CG, and if not, then a weirdly polished image "touch-up" for some reason...

But look at it this way. It's still good enough to get people questioning weather or NOT it is CG! :-) That by it self, is funny :-)

Don't think it's CGI at all. It might look like that from a still but in the video or even a gif it's clear it's Cavill himself. It only looks CGI because of all the heavy effects that surround his actual face. This was actually discussed before and I believe I saw someone here post some example photographs of real life experiments and how they look CGI even if they're not. Anyway, I really don't think we'll ever see a close up of Henry that is CGI in this film.

me 2!!!
i've finally recovered from the burnout of SR!!!

Ha ha that's not CGI

Agreed, its a real shot of Cavill surrounded by a green screen, with loads of effects added behind him and in front of him. That energy beam pushing him down (exactly out of Earth One btw) is all over him, hence he himself looks distorted. If it was a waterfall falling on him, he would look unclear/out of focus/distorted/whatever you want to call it, in a similar way.

Bond is an exception to the rule. His franchise spans 20 plus films and his theme is very versatile. It can be done is a fast paced, adrenaline charged scene or a in an touching, intimate scene. John Williams' Superman theme is not as versatile. It's a hopeful theme that can only be played in certain scenes. What Zimmer has created is a theme that he can mold to feel intimate OR adrenaline filled. John Williams' Superman theme, as brilliant as it is, just doesn't fit what they're doing with this film.

Besides...Batman, Star Trek, even Spider-Man didn't use their previous musical themes and their reboots turned out just fine.

There are times on Superman I and II where you can hear Williams' theme in a much slower pace, mostly when Clark and Lois are on scene (not the "Can you read my mind" song). One of those scenes, if Im not mistaken is at the end of the mugging scene, Clark thinking of telling Lois he's Superman on their first date (the glasses scene) and another when Jor-El talks to Clark for the first time at the Fortress of Solitude. Since I don't have the DVD with me at this time, I can't check those scenes right now.

I understand the reasoning of wanting a new theme to re-start the franchise, but if the producers didn't want to use William's iconic theme, again, like the James Bond franchise, I expected something better from Zimmer. He did one heck of a job with Nolan's Batman musical score for the trilogy. I expected something of that same level for MOS.

^well seeing how the majority love it

zimmer hit it out of the park

He really did and according to some quotes from him in the Score thread, parts of the piece are still his original demo tracks, so there will probably be more depth and detail to the final score. Also, does anyone else feel like Trailer 2 is inferior now, partly because of the score? After hearing Zimmer's new material, the earlier music does not feel like as good a fit anymore to me.
