Official: Prince of Persia Next-Gen Thread

Yeah, I'd like to add it to my music library. I do have software that can record stereo music into mp3's but I have to play through the whole thing and then edit the beginning and ends using a music editing software. I was wondering if there was a way to just extract the music directly from the DVD into a WAV file or something similar that I can simply convert.

You can do it with iTunes. Just put the CD in and it rips it onto your computer in MP3 format.

Does anyone else really dislike the flying power? There are too many effects going on as your flying, it's really hard to see what's going on. There's already an effect on Elika and the Prince, I don't see why they added the extra effects around the edges of the screen. The other 3 powers don't distort your view in anyway.
Flying is my least favorite magic power, followed closely by the green running thing. Neither would be too bad if the camera were better when you activate them, but it sucks, so you wind up with situations where you're running on curves or flying with the map spinning all around you and you can't see upcoming obstacles until they're right on top of you.
What I didnt understand is that basically the Red Power and the Blue Power essentially do the same exact thing, which is just transport you to another circle...one looks like a super jump while the other looks like some sort of magnetic force pulling them...couldn't they have thought of something else?

Also, did any of you guys get that last tree next to the Tree of Life? It looks accessible, but I tried various positions but couldnt reach it. If you weren't supposed to get it, [BLACKOUT]does that mean that there is still a little 'hope' for Ormazd after Ahriman is freed?[/BLACKOUT]

Also, I didnt really understand the story that much. [BLACKOUT] From what I think I know..the father lost the wife, sacrificed his daughter to get the wife? If that's the case, where's the wife? 2ndly, the prince doesn't really reveal too much about himself other than that his parents were killed and he's a loner who lost his donkey. In the art gallery there is a drawing of Elika stalking the Prince and it almost looks like she got rid of the Gold without him noticing b/c shes standing next to it. Did Elika have something to do with prince helping him?[/BLACKOUT]
The king didn't sacrifice Elika to save his wife. The queen died 3 years before the events of the game and the king lost all hope, allowing the kingdom to sink into decay. Elika was running around the kingdom one day and accidentally fell to her death. The king, his spirit shattered after his wife's death already, decided he couldn't lose his daughter as well, no matter the cost, so he freed Ahriman in order because Ahriman promised to restore Elika's life, which he did.

I beat the game. Didn't like the ending because it does seem to be pointing toward a Warrior Within-esque sequel, which we've definitely seen one too many of as it is. But we'll see.

I was glad to see [blackout]Jade from Beyond Good and Evil[/blackout] as a skin after beating it. I think my second play-through will be with the SoT Prince and Farah, though. I gotta get the speed achievement. Took me like 15 hours because I had to replay parts a lot of times due to crappy timing, plus I went back through all of the other areas before beating the final corrupted boss (the Warrior for me) and collected all of the light seeds I missed the first time around. I got the 1,001 light seeds achievement, though, which was cool. :)

Its a DVD not a CD unfortunately. iTunes doesn't recognize it. I really liked Track 1 and 2.

Wow thats impressive. As soon as I didnt have to hunt for them anymore, I had a sigh of relief and went back into the mission :woot: If you change the skins of the character, does the story change as well?

Thanks also for the story questions...I couldnt understand those little flashbacks. I know a little about the real history of ancient Iranic gods Ahriman and Ahura Mazda (Ormazd) and they are basically like yin and yang, they act to counterbalance one another and everybody has the free will to choose which side to lean upon in their life. So for the Prince to let Ahriman go kind of makes sense because good cannot live without evil and vice versa.

Nope, no change in story. I think I'm actually going to play as Altair and Farah instead of the SoT Prince. The SoT Prince skin is really awkward and ugly. The exaggerated figures they used in the game work when they're covered up with flowing clothes, but a bare-chested man with a torso that's about 3 times longer than it should be relative to his tiny head looks pretty weird.

Does anybody know what that "think for one minute" achievement is all about? I had the not-prince stand still for over a minute one time and nothing happened.

You have to stand still for a minute when carrying [blackout]Elika near the end of the game[/blackout]

I'm going to play as Altair on my next playthrough too, I love his design.

Damn, I absolutely HATED the ending.

Pissed me off that I had to undo everything I did up to that point, even more because the game actually made me do it, instead of making it a cutscene. On second thought, I don't know which is worse.

It's basically the game laughing at your face pointing a finger at you, all Nelson-like, as if it was all a big waste of time. Might as well erase all the achievement points I got from this, cause I sure as hell don't feel like I've achieved s#!t.

Okay, rant done. :)

It was a bit of an anti-climax. I was like, "No, come on, they wouldn't..." But they did.

Anyone tried any of the speed run achievements? I thought they would be hard, but I did the one where you have to run from the Sun Citadel to the Windmills with ease. I think they give you a lot more time than you really need to get there. I guess it's so the casual gamers can make the times with a few screw-ups.

Just played this at a friends house. Loved it, but it was way too easy. I got a little bored after an hour or so, but overall it was very fun. From what I played, I give it a 9/10.

I did all 4 of the speed runs. They weren't hard at all. Just have to know which way to go.

So is this game worth buying? From what I read and see it looks pretty tight, but also a bit short and easy from what people are saying. Think I still might like the game and I'm looking for a new fun game experience. I'm sick of playing MK vs. DC, and I'm tempted to replay Devil May Cry 4, but would rather play something new.

So... worth buying? Maybe just a rental? Keep in mind that IMO, I thought Spidey WOS was worth buying so... I'm not that picky a gamer.

Without spoiling the game, is there any references to the SOT trilogy?

This game has pretty easy achievements, I've noticed. I've done almost all of them and the ones remaining don't seem to be very hard. This may just be the first game I actually complete all of the achievements for. Usually they're too hard for me to bother trying most of them.

they are beyond easy. I thought hte speed runs would have been an issue but they give you more than enough time. I thought the ones for Burnout Paradise were easy but Prince of Persia even beats those. This will be the 2nd game where I fully complete them

Ubisoft better have an uber-sequel in the works or heads along with other body parts will roll.

Since everyone seems to say that this game is easy...I must be a challenged gamer :(

I need help with the garden where you are supposed to hit one of the yellow things...I cant wall ride it up or wall climb up to it. what the hell do I do? please help. thanks.

Usually you'll find that you get to a pad that's out of reach by going to another pad. Yellow pads in particular are often in funny places because you chain together a bunch of them and fly all over the map.

Finally have all the light seeds. Second platinum ;)

DLC is on the way! :woot:

IGN: What's the plan for the future? Will we be seeing any downloadable content to expand the Prince of Persia world?

Mattes: We will have DLC for PoP that will feature new content such as a new area, new enemies, a new power and new fight moves.

This is not at all a chunk of the game that was supposed to ship but that we didn't finish in time – this is a significant DLC team that has taken all of the lessons they learned during the development of POP and all of the feedback we've read on boards and in reviews and are creating something really special.

I think there is a huge opportunity with the DLC to expand on the universe we've started to create with this game -- to dig deeper into the personality of the Prince and Elika and their relationship. Additionally with the DLC, we have the luxury of creating content that takes some of the negative feedback the game received into consideration. I, for one, can't wait to play it.

I finally beat this game.

I just had one level to beat before the ending, but I decided I should just get all the seeds, because I had way more than I ever wanted to look for again so it would have been dumb to not get them all. But looking for them got old fast, lol and I bought Fallout which took up most of my time.

Tonight I finally sat down to get them all and beat the game. The fighting system really lost it's fun by the latter half of the game. I'm sure there is some kind of pattern that I am missing but it's just not coming to me.

All in all, it's a fun game that gets kind of repetitive. I think they should have stuck closer to the Assassin's Creed version of free running and just pumped it up a notch, the dumbed down version just makes you feel like you aren't doing very much. AC felt so good when you were running and jumping and climbing. You never felt like you were on a linear path.

I love the look of the game, the free running is good but could have been so much better, the story is meh and the combat is no fun.

I'm looking fowards to playing this. Got it under the tree waiting to be played.
