Official 'The Hobbit' Thread - Part 10

Last night was my first time watching the FOTR EE on blu-ray (I've seen it on DVD before). Have to say I didn't think the color update would bother me, but all the teal did start to distract me after awhile.

Watched some of TTT EE though and it was much better.

I withstand the greenish tinge if only for the better everything else. The TE's Blu-Ray transfer is shameful.

The TE? All these abbreviations get me confused sometimes.

I liked the movie a bit more than the book (in the case of The Hobbit)
There are so many things about the book that just annoyed me.

What was annoying in the book that the film left out?

i wonder how they will going to do the marketing for this next movie since the title has the name of the dragon, but it looks like Pete is not willing to show the beast likely until the movie is released in theaters

I am sure they will show the dragon in marketing. The film doesn't come out until December... of course they aren't going to show it right now.

Yeah, I'm certain they'll use Smaug in the marketing. First trailer is supposed to drop this summer (per PJ in that live event)... so yeah, I think we might get a hint of him if it's just a teaser trailer, if it's a full length trailer we'll probably get a much better look at him. No matter what though, CGI on him is most likely going to be getting worked on right up until the film is released.

One thing's for sure, the teaser will hit with either Man of Steel or Pacific Rim.

Update on Bagend. The ceiling in the parlor is proving difficult

:lmao:

Has anyone seen an extended preview for The Desolation of Smaug? People on TOR are posting like they've seen one.

...extended DOS? The One Ring does get pretty good attention from PJ. many were at the end of the LotR film credits, I can see them getting a longer view.

Can I ask what may become a stupid question...

But when the dwarfs sing in Bag End... Is that the actors singing or miming to other people singing?

That is them singing. They did ADR but it is their voices.

"I haven't seen the entire dragon, nobody's seen the entire dragon, he's under lock and key..." Andy Serkis.

Some of the cast (Andy, Richard and James) talk a bit about Cumberbatch and the dragon (nothing earth shattering, just general talk and Andy talks mostly about the motion capture aspect of it):

IGN: The Hobbit: An Unextpected Journey - Chasing Smaug, The Magnificent Dragon

I'm very excited to see how Smaug looks. I've brought this up before, but do we know if Del Toro's design for him was thrown out or is being used? Because all the talk of his design for Smaug looking unlike any other dragon had me really hyped while he was still involved.

You know, I was very hesitant to get the EE BD's because of all this talk about the FOTR colour update. I can honestly say when watching the BD I didnt notice it at all, it was just like when I used to watch the movie but with the obvious BD picture and sound upgrade.

*lol*

Seriously though, this best hero battle for the MTV Movie awards is insane (hell, just track the progress of it: http://lotrproject.com/projects/votebilbo/). I initially was voting for Iron Man, but when it seemed obvious he wasn't going to catch up I joined up with the Ringers. I mean, I have nothing against Snow White & the Huntsman... heck, I actually liked the movie for what it was. But I definitely do NOT think SW is the best hero and, well, it's just... after, what, 4+ years of Twilight (and it's fans) seeming to sweep these types of awards with their insane spam voting I just really REALLY don't want them to succeed this time and would love it if someone else could get recognition other than K-Stewart for once. So yeah, Vote Bilbo!!!! :oldrazz:
