Someone posted the lyrics on IMDb... so here they are for those interested.

I saw the light fade from the sky
On the wind I heard a sigh
As the snowflakes covered
My fallen brothers
I will say this last goodbye

Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling
And I must away

Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the sea

Under cloud beneath the stars
Over snow and winter's morn
I turn at last to paths that lead home

And though where the road then takes me, I cannot tell
We came all this way but now comes the day
To bid you farewell

Many places I have been
Many sorrows I have seen
But I don't regret nor will I forget
All who took that road with me

Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling
And I must away

Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the sea

To these memories I will hold
With your blessing I will go
To turn at last to paths that lead home

And though where the road then takes me, I cannot tell
We came all this way but now comes the day
To bid you farewell

I bid you all a very fond farewell

The song definitely gives me "Into the West" vibes. Very emotional. It's more of a goodbye to the entire Middle-Earth saga and not just The Hobbit trilogy. One thing I must say, in my opinion, the Hobbit trilogy beats the Lord of the Rings trilogy in the song department. It's probably the one advantage this trilogy has over LOTR. I do like the contrast between the two trilogies (male singers for The Hobbit, female singers for LOTR). I'm hoping they have the illustrations during the credits like in Return of the King.

I do agree if only for the fact that I love 3 out of 3 with The Hobbit songs where as with the LOTR trilogy I love 2 out of 3... I've just never been able to like Gollum's Song.

(and it totally never crossed my mind about female singers on LOTR and male on TH *lol* that's kind of awesome they did it that way)

Same here. I liked "May It Be" and I loved "Into the West", but "Gollum's Song" was just a bit too other-worldly for me.

Some of the lyrics seem very close to 'The Road Goes Ever On'.

Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the sea

Is very much like:

Roads go ever ever on
Over rock and under tree
By caves where never sun has shone
By streams that never find the sea

Is that intentional? Why didn't they just put Roads Go Ever On to music?

I didnt think it was possible, but Gollum's Song is no longer my least favorite credit song in the franchise. I was expecting something along the lines of "The Edge of Night" not whatever this is.

I haven't yet. I'll have to listen tomorrow night. lol

From the samples, I can tell this will likely be my favorite score of the Hobbit trilogy.

Disc 2 Track 10 - Ironfoot (Dain's theme) sounds like something out of Brave. It has bagpipes and has a nice highlander sound that builds and I love it! Its definitely something different for Middle Earth and unlike any other theme Shore has written for the franchise. Here it is:

I hope the Misty Mountains theme from An Unexpected Journey makes an appearance again. It was sorely missed in The Desolation of Smaug.

Wouldnt count on it. Shore wasnt a fan of it apparently and there is a new heoric dwarf theme thats an evolution of the dwarf melody that played throughout DOS.

Amazing theme. Can't wait to hear the rest of it.

Isn't it on one of the LotR soundtracks too tho?

Has anyone watched the featurette on the Extended Edition of DoS that are about the film's score? That thing is really long and in-depth!

Yeah its a fantastic doc, and one of the highlights of the release.

The part that shocked me the most was when they were talking about scoring the FOTR Moria scene for the Cannes Film Festival back in 2000 and how if it had got a bad reception there and in theaters they were gonna cut the post-production budget and post time of TTT and ROTK...can y'all imagine how awful that would have been to have those two good films shot and ready to go but then having to complete them on a straight to dvd budget...thank god FOTR was a success!
