Tom Bombadil and Goldberry will get their own movie together in 2018, filling us in on what we missed in FOTR.

It will feature an hour long CGI battle against Old Man Willow (who is really Sauron, and who will be played by Daniel Day Lewis before being entirely digitally replaced) and thousands of Orc-spider mutant cross breeds. There will also be an intense trout-pulled water ski chase down the Withywindle. Pippin will fall in love with Goldberry (played by Jennifer Lopez, but largely CGI) and perve on her while she's bathing.

All of this exciting, "spirit of Tolkien" material will require a further seven films, each with an extended edition.

Brilliant.
Also, the longest post I've seen from you :D

But you missed out on one huge aspect of the film..... Legolas
:D

Well, I liked it. Found it very enjoyable. A slight lack of story here and there, but eh. I'll wait and see what they do with the Extended Edition. Overall, I found it an enjoyable to the trilogy.

The first thing I noticed as all the fedoramen in the comments. :o

Think I'm seeing this tomorrow afternoon.

Well i'm off to see this turd, let's hope it has some entertainment value. :D

I'm *still* waiting for my theater to add more showtimes for next Saturday so I can buy my tickets/get our seats reserved. Right now they have 10AM which won't work due to a previous event we have to go to, but the next one after that isn't until 5:45PM which is too late in the day for us (and then a 9PM which, in addition to being too late at night for us, would be an evening/more expensive ticket cost). I know they're going to add more (there's no way they're only going to have 3 showtimes for this film). I just wish they would get the times up already. *sigh*

I liked it. Much better than the 1st 2 although it is almost one long battle scene. Dain was awesome! Thranduil too. Will definitely be buying it when it comes out.

I get why he put the battle into its own movie. It would have been rushed at the end of the last one. It would have needed an extra hour on the film to do right. But that means to put it in its own and to be truthful the story doesn't stretch, even with the appendices. It led to a lot of 'originality' to flesh it out. Some people will hate that.

I found it fun though, I can do without Tauriel and Alfred though. The execution of Dain is iffy, clear CGI there. And I found the language he used not in the spirit of Tolkein's work.

Is this movie good to see? I enjoyed the first one and somewhat enjoyed the second one.

It's funny that Aragorn's "let's hunt some Orc" line sounded so incongruous in FOTR, but would go unnoticed in one of these movies.

He was played by Billy Connolly, but in the Theatrical cut the character is essentially a cameo. It seems that all that is left of him in the Theatrical Cut is him in battle on his war pig. Jackson apparently chose to use a cgi Dain on the war pig rather than composite Billy Connolly atop the cgi pig. The reviews say that Jackson kept Billy Connolly's voice. He rides around shouting obscenities (not sure what kind) while he kills orcs.

Hopefully in the Extended Edition we will get some non-cgi Dain scenes. In the TC the character doesn't even get any resolution. We see him in battle but never see him again. Not even after the battle.

A word that means 'A person with no father' and a word referring to sodomy, twice.

I don't think fans who hated the last one will like this but members of the GA who are neutral/liked it a bit and a bit confused at the post LOTR drop in quality will think this one much better. I'm a huge LOTR fan but have never taken anything Hobbit related too seriously but this was definitely more fun than I was expecting.

Also on the CGI Dain I guess it probably was blindingly obvious if someone had mentioned it but I think I was watching this more like a member of the GA than a fan and it didn't really register or bother me. A lot of things in these 3 films aren't in the spirit of Tolkien's work but Dain & the Dwarves army were good to finally see on film for me.

WHAT?!? You lucky dawg!!!
Came out on Friday here. I don't know if I would have seen it opening weekend if friends hadn't independently arranged it but now I'm glad I did. When is it out for you?

Incongruous or not, to this day that moment is one of my favorites in the whole saga. Puts a smile on my face every time I watch that film.
