I believe the only real problem jackson had with Wizards and Magic was he didn't care for the harry potter stuff. I think he liked it best wizards using magic but looked like it was expressing power more so then flashy trickys

And then we got a breakdance fight with Gandalf and Saruman. :o

I'll take Big D vs. Voldy over that.

I have to laugh at the complaints about Gandalf using magic. He's a ****ing wizard, you're damn right he should be using magic.

He's also allowed to use a tiny miniscule of his power. He is not allowed to interfere in the business of the creatures of middle earth beyond guidence and what little power he is afforded. At full power he could've taken down Sauron himself.

I am going to give my review but not give away any spoilers the best I can.
Thank you for the report and the absence of spoilers. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

Today I went though the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy (extended) and it was worth it.

Yep. Had Gandalf taken the ring from Frodo he would have wiped Middle Earth out. Only Manwë could have stopped him.

I'm really getting the impression that you don't like this franchise.

I understand that it's okay to critique certain things and share one's opinions about a film. But when you do nothing but repeat ad nauseum the same critiques over and over and over again, why do you even feel the need to stay in this thread if you don't even like it to begin with?

It's like repeatedly going to a restaurant you don't like but eating the food anyway, complaining about it over and over again and bothering the other customers who are enjoying their meal.

I'm getting the same impression. I only see negativity from him whenever i come to this thread

Same could be said about a few inhabitants of Middle-Eath. Galads for one.

Wow. I've done it over a weekend, but not one day. Good job.

I've done one day before, and want to again, but probably won't have a free day until around Christmas. Helps to have a good friend watch it through with you... we had a blast.

Dying to read through the books again soon as well.

Pretty sure I made my love for FOTR and TTT apparent.

The biggest fans of the LOTR films will tell you how ridiculous the Gandalf and Saruman fight is. It is a big internet joke.

Galadriel wouldnt hold a candle to Gandalf at full power. Not much of anything would except the gods. And if he had the ring it wouldnt be like anything else. Just an energy wiping the slate clean.

Just thought of somethig Gandalf vs Voldemort. Lol I might actually feel sorry for the snake bastard.

I always have trouble on when to start the material. FOTR feels like a "night" film for me, so I usually need to start it after the sun goes down.

I'm a big fan and I love it... its good fun cheesiness. :oldrazz:

If it had been super long I probably would have hated it, but as a short little wizard spat it doesn't bother me.

Oh, my wife loves to watch it with me when I do....but we have a kid, so things get expanded out...takes a lot longer to get through a movie.

Yeah I got up at 8am and I got was done by 8pm. Today was pretty much the only day I had free time to watch it before the Hobbit comes out.

Gandalf without the ring vs. Galadriel with the ring, Galadriel would stomp him and all of Middle-Earth.

Gandalf is limited by his very form. Sauron, also being a Maiar, could stand toe-to-toe with Gandalf, just like the Balrog.

Oh I love it for its cheesiness, but it terms of Wizard's duels? Not exactly the most badass. It turned into them pushing each other over like old men.

I know gandalf is limited that is why i said at full power galadriel could not stand up to him even with the ring. Gandalf is even more powerful than Sauron which is why eith the ring he would be more powerful than Sauron with the ring.

Yes, but isn't that the point? He could theoretically be the most powerful being ever, but if he can't use that power, it doesn't really matter. Why he ends up dead.

Also in this movie verse, it seems that Galadriel is the great power. Even in the Hobbit it looks as if Gandalf is looking to her.

Definitely. Jackson has played up galadriel more than Gandalf.

You know, I think most would say McKellen as Gandalf is probably some of the best and maybe even most obvious casting ever. Can't believe he wasn't the first choice.

So other then him, who do you think was the best bit of casting in LOTR? I think Cate was an inspired choice and that Viggo was some of the best "backup" casting I can think of.

Also who do you think from the new Hobbit cast could be the best bit of casting? Freeman just looks perfect imo.

Freeman's casting is my choice for the Hobbit. Possibly up there with McKellen's casting. I still cant believe that Sean Connery was their first choice for Gandalf. Lol WTF were they thinking!
