Ah. I see. Well, hopefully the whole point of this arc is to show Cap that the 40s "hit 'em hard and hit 'em fast" aproach only cuases their kids and neighbors to hit ups back in the long run. Cap's whole arc through the Ultimates has been the very uncomfortable transition from the more morally black and white, Uncle Sam is always right world of the U.S. military during WWII to the more complex world of today. Now, I'm not saying that the 40s were less complex, but the average U.S. soldier back then never once questioned the morality of the war (although specific events, such as the carpet bombing of certain German cities, most likely bothered many, but Cap may have simply been unaware of the exact details, being primairily a special stealth operative).

Agreed. I was actually talking to one of the hands around my home today about the world of that time, compared to the world of today, and the reactive natures of both. Captain America of the Ultimates embodies the American TRUE knee jerk reaction type. If something goes bad, you beat the crap out of it. Where American's nowadays are thought of being that way, but really are far more diplomatic (sans certain leaders).

I like "Knee Jerk" Cap!

Or rather the John Wayne/Clint Eastwood Cap.

Yeah, but it doesn't work these days. Hell, the only reason it worked at all in the 40s is because Germany was truely what you would call an evil empire, and required that kind of reaction. Since WWII, we've had no such evil empire, and thus the knee jerk reaction causes more problems than it solves. Part of Cap's story in the Ultimates is learning that.

The world back then thought a lot like that. It was more "extreme" in reaction and thought. Most people were FAR more patriotic to their countries in those days. And back then, the reactionary nature of that world worked, as people believed there was a moral compass. This of course, was brought on by oppression and demand for conformity and such. But still. Either way, it doesn't work, as the world is extremely diverse, and requires special handling, and Cap is learning that now. That every action has a reaction.

Well, I read #12 today and I'm kinda 'meh' on it. It was pretty well scripted and the art was fantastic but the dialogue was just plain horrendous.

I loved seeing Quicksilver disintegrate Hurricane and Hulk's dismembering of Abomination but the Cap/Abdul battle and 'Iron Man 6' were a bit of a letdown. I was hoping for a new suped up suit of armor, not a f**king warship. :p

You'll get the new suit in the next version of Ultimates. I personally loved the evolution to the warship.

This was a spur of the moment buy and i really loved it im not gonna lie.

anybody read the annual? Cap's reaction to getting the skinny of the last 60 yrs from falcon was beautiful...

It was a solid issue, but...damn...there was a butt load of heroes killing the bad guys in this issue. It was like valiant death...it was like on the level of bloody, painful, dismembering death.

And we finally get to see Thor vs. Loki, or at least that's what I HOPE we're getting. This is Mark Millar after all, king of the anti-climatic final battle scene. :oldrazz:

Not that, the fight was rather well done. I just wanted to see Cap get his butt kicked a little.

Sorry that didn't happen for you! :whatever: Cap gave that punk more than he could handle...experience or otherwise!!

Capt. Jihad had to call in his boys to help him?? :oldrazz: WoW!! What a wuss!! Then he was gonna cut off Cap's head while they held him down?? What an honorable man. :whatever: And some of you were roooting for this guy?? LOL

Cap was at least willing to go down to the end...man to man!! The assist Cap got he didn't ask for...but he deserved it!! Especially after that punk move by ol' Abdul.

Stop calling him Cap Jihad.

This was a good issue, but everything moved way to fast, and the first two page spread at the beginning was unnesasary IMO. Still, awesome issue. Loved Captain Britain's moment:

The only thing I didn't like was that the cover made it seem we would see alot more of the Ultimate Universe(FF,X-Men,Spidey), not just one two page spread of them. But then again this issue was split up, so maybe more is coming in #13...

Especially since he said that he fely code names were childish, and that all of his actions suggested that his motives and the motives were political and personal, not religious.

I love that, depending on your interpretation of certain characters, we essentially just watched Captain America impale Wonderman on his own weapon.

:)

Wow, most of us nerds are looking for T and A in our comics but, that's cool if you're looking for C and B. :oldrazz:

You know that that isn't a compliment, right?

Sure I do. But you should know by now that "name calling" doesn't work on me. :yay:

I just can't believe that some of you were pulling for the enemy.:whatever:

Go Abdul Al-Rahman! GO!

You know, I think I'd have prefered to see Abdul live. Simply because, in the wake of the invasion, SHEILD and The Ultimates may become truely international instead of representing the Western nations, and Adbul and the Liberators would be forced to join to keep the poloticians on both sides happy.
