The sad thing is Loeb isn't done yet. He has even more projects. How does he keep getting work?!

Is it just me, or could the Black Panther actually not be...a black man? The scene where [blackout]Juggernaut punded BP into the ground, and part of BP costume was torned, it looked like whoever the guy behind the mask is, had a lighter skin color[/blackout], made me think this.

I thought so, too, except then why would Wolverine have to look after him then? Say BP is Cap, and Cap has justified his skill & experience, so why would Wolverine act so cautious of him being on the team?

And if Wolverine knows BP is Cap, then why hasn't Wolverine questioned the other Cap that's also on the team?

Or is this all just more bad writing?

Frankly, I have no clue who it is if it isn't Cap. It's fair to assume whoever it is is a person that can either
a) Defeat Juggernaut
or
b) Juggernaut wouldn't kill

Here, I'll just make up what happens in the next issue, as Jeph Loeb...unfortunatly, I dont have Mad (or a proxy) here to draw everything I think in disfigured porportions the likes of which make Leifield himself shudder...so here goes...

The Ultimates burst in, and find Magneto and Quicksilver double teaming Scarlet Witche's corpse. Black Panther unmasks, revealing himself to be Steve Rogers for some stupid, convoluted reason, and violently throws up, disgusted by the site he has just witnessed. Jan then tells him he needs to get with the times as incestous necrophilia gang bangs are TOTALLY acceptable in the 21st century, and all the "cool kids" are in fact, doing it.

Then Wolverine says "I'm the best there is at what I do!" and kills a T-Rex for no reason. And Thor has sex with his teenage girlfriend.

I can't defend this for two main reasons:

1. It's Ultimate

2. It's garbage.

Just because I like it doesn't mean I think it's a good or great book.

I'll still reserve overall judgment for the final issue. If in five issues Loeb doesn't have a story that can be honestly deciphered - something akin to his three issues of Ultimate Power, which were just out there, even for lately-Loeb - then I'll be the first person out there calling it an incomplete and crap story. Until then, it's an incomplete serial, yes, with delays.

I don't care. I tend to like Loeb's out-there stuff (with the exception of what I remember about Ultimate Power, but I liked the generally-zany Superman/Batman of Loeb's reign), and so far, this has been randomly fun. Yes, I read and have fun with what will probably wind up being a crappy story. It happens.

And yes. I like Joe MAD. Oh my dear reality, I like MAD.
