I honestly don't see how anyone who has read Millar's run on Ultimates from start to finish can enjoy Loeb's work. Millar's run was one of the most enjoyable runs I've had the pleasure of reading in a comic to date.

The dialogue from Ultimates 3 seems so outdated. If Loeb isn't writing one of his books with Sale, the guy seems to struggle.

From the few things I saw he draws all women in hourglass, huge chest, tiny waist and huge hips again. Not a big problem but sometimes the waist just looks too thin, like the top of the body should snap off from the bottom half.

I love his women :yay:

Ultimates 3 IS like a completely different comic, really. But I still like it.

Hahahaha, that's one of the things that most readers like about the art. I think it's outrageous (and yes, any real women proportioned like that would die within 30 seconds) but he draws his men extremely exaggerated, too. If you simply take it at face value as exaggerated art, I think it's great.

Before I actually read any of the issues, I just thought, "Ugh, this artist is even more sexist than most," but he really does exaggerate EVERYTHING.

I like it I'm just saying it's a bit too over the top in a few pics I've seen.

Everything tops Mad's pics that I've seen. Maybe when I get the tpb I'll change my mind or maybe I'll never read Mad's stuff again.

Complaints about the art and the slowness and the dinosaurs aside - I think maybe we're looking at the latest series all wrong. The Ultron aspect last issue finally being revealed, combined with the variant cover released have got me thinking that maybe (albeit through a very slow and largely disracting buildup) the Savage land side of things is really a bluff of sorts. That the Ultron infiltration is what we should be looking at more.

Of course the arsenal of weapons that Thor has still seems stupid, and Mjolnir having iron in it is stupid, and Hawkeye dropping the bow is stupid, and Wasp being team leader despite having shown no leadership skills in vols 1 or 2 is stupid, and Tony being all depressed about Natasha considering the close of vol 2 is stupid. But other than that - the Ultron clan shooting Wanda and the team just reacting to Magnetos appearance as if he is actually behind it is quite clever.

Has anyone else read the first issue of War Heroes?

Millar said it is what he would have done in Ultimates 3 if he continued on the book. I'm enjoying it so far immensly.

I largely agree with this post. I wasn't bothered by Jan becoming the leader too much though as she's always been the "cheerleader" of the group and seems like the perfect person to rally the group together now that they're no longer a military unit. I'm more disappointed by the lack of any explanation for Black Panther and Valkyrie joining. Hopefully we'll at least get some clues.

Or the Wanda we saw shot was actually an Ultron robot and this was all part of their plan to get the Ultimates outta the way.

^^i kind of hope that wasn't the real wanda...wasn't ready to see her die even though valkrie and black panther seemed to have replaced her and her brother on the team.

How about Pyro being in #4 and speaking pretty disgustingly? Surely editorial and Loeb can't have messed up that bad by including a 616 brotherhood member who in Ultimate is a good guy from the start and prone to hero worship. Think that might have something to do with the far reaching Ultron conspiracy? Though those Multiple men Hawkeye shot were certainly spewing regular blood, so I dont think they were robots.

To talk about what I didn't like, to talk about the few things I did. To talk about it like people do on these forums. I don't want to start one though.

Hey everybody I kind of new to The Ultimates and I have a question. Why is there only 2 volumes?

Because the guys behind the good version of Ultimates took their sweet time to craft an intelligent story with terrific art.

And at the time everyone *****ed about it, saying that Hitch is brilliant, but the detail wasn't worth the months behind schedule the book was falling. Now (albeit running late again) everyone's *****ing that the art AND story of Vol 3 sucks all round and Millar and Hitch's lateness would be fine.

Fickle aint we

Not really. Crap is crap. And that's pretty much what this current run is. A roll of used butt wipe. And taking five years to finish a story that should have only took two is a buncha bulls**t too.

I haven't read Ultimates 3 yet, but I love the previous titles, and now I'm worried. Wasp's not asian? Hawkeye lost his bow? Valkyrie has powers? what is this world coming too....

I don't think Hawkeye lost his bow.

I mean, it's not like he woke up one day and went, "Bow, I've lost you? Where are you? Come back to me, my bow!"

Damned Bows... Just when you thought you find the one, they leave you and take all your arrows, so when you find the next bow...you have to start all over again with an empty quiver
