So if Batman Begins = Year One + The Man Who Falls + The mob side of The Long Halloween
And TDK = Joker's original stories + the Two-Face part of The Long Halloween + bits of The Man Who Laughs and The Killing Joke

Then is it safe to say that The Dark Knight Rises appears to be Knightfall + The Dark Knight Returns (with maybe a bit of No Man's Land, if some rumors are to be believed)?

Sounds good to me. I wonder where they will take the Catwoman stories from, if they do at all.

Yeah, sometime back in the spring I bought Hush and The Long Halloween to get some Catwoman material. Now that we know more and more about the story of the movie, I've added The Dark Knight Returns, Knightfall, and No Man's Land to my Amazon wish list. It's funny, I'd never owned any comics, let alone even read them, before I bought Hush and TLH. Loved them both. Looking forward to the next three.

I suggest, if you liked Hush and TLH, to look at some of Jeph Loeb's other Batman stuff, especially Dark Victory, the sequel to Long Halloween. It also gave some influence to the Nolan films and is probably the best origin story for the Dick Grayson Robin out there.
