West's tweets aren't going to help anything. Marketing, an appealing premise and luck is what put asses in seats. Tweets didn't help West album, which is a disappointing seller so far.

Good reviews from critics can't hurt but that's hardly a be all end all thing, I mean Star Trek Into Darkness isn't going to be the highest grossing movie of the summer.

Bingo.

Anymore Tweets ??.There should be some more coming very soon!.:yay:
Cant wait to hear more reactions from the people who saw it .

Is there an embargo on the reviews because I don't see any up on Rotten Tomatoes?

Marketing is bad for this so far...... many of my friends in india who are hollywood buffs hardly knew this is comin next weeknd .......

they could hav attached the latest trailer wit MOS .... this movie needs to do good numbers internationally to get a sequel...

It's gonna need good enough numbers to break even, if GA interest is really as low as it seems?

Well, then, you friends aren't Hollywood buffs, I don't know how you can not have heard about the movie, at least online, if you're a so-called "film buff".

i agree. if you watch trailers on youtube you have to know about PR.

@denofgeek: Incidentally, the embargo on Pacific Rim reviews finally lifts tomorrow morning. We're all allowed to publish them then.

That's tomorrow morning in GMT.

I'm seeing the movie regardless but I'm curious to see what reviews are like. I still think it's going to get at least an 80% on RT but of course I could be wrong.

its strange that they dont realese the reviews before monday.

if you are a fanboy you shouldnt have a problem with PR. big robots and big monsters plus a technology called Drift. the drift connects two humans to move a robot. i will like this movie.

the question is if it is 9/10

Have you seen Transformers? The Star Wars prequels? The Last Airbender? GI Joe? The Matrix sequels? Indy 4? That should have been a no brainers for geeks as well. Most complain about them.

I'm seeing this tomorrow night, I am quite glad to say.

I've said numerous times that I'm fine with the premise. I rarely judge these types of films the way people that hate dumb fun films do.

The point had to be made that in our immediate real world there are other options. Amassing many many gallons of real world toxins that mess with the blood and the nervous system(see snake venom) of carbon based animals and even adding synthetic stuff to the brew would be alot more feasible then a functional Megazord imo. If they are bent on hardware then I say go smaller rather than bigger, if this is a world where they have the tech to make a megazord....
And lastly what seems like the most obvious option, attack the creatures form the inside, bomb detonations my do squat in the face of a hard scaly surface but it's a different story on the inside.

It's just a movie, funny how many times I've had to say that to the people that think sending oil drillers to blow up an comet is dumb. I do find it interesting to see which films fanboys choose to defend though.

I for one can't wait to see it, it's the only movie I have left to look forward to this season.

There are other options. Even in the case of the world itself they are giving up on the Jaeger option and just building a giant wall.

-fanboys complained about the matrix sequels because they were big blockbuster movies with to much actioin. i disagree since i like the trilogy. but i understand what they didnt like.
-SW prequels? we know why
-transformers problem is Bay's approach to story and characters
-i have no idea why some dont like Indy 4. no idea. it looks like the exact same tone and main character.
- TLA is a bad movie. its so bad that if i had a gun when i watched the movie i would shoot myself in the leg. i rather bleed through my leg then in my brain.

i think if you like PR trailers you will like the movie. at least a 6/10 or 7/10.

I personally like Indy 4, TPM and most of the Matrix Reloaded. That doesn't change the "general geek consensus".

Outside of GI Joe, every film I listed, including TLA, had fantastic trailers. So what makes Pacific Rim or the trailers for it any different? Why, as a "geek", must we already be predisposed to like it? What if it is a bad movie? What if it has bad story or characters?

I've disliked plenty of geek films so I'm under no illusion that I'm guaranteed to like Pacific Rim. I could easily hate it, I'm still a bit uneasy about the human element.

I just don know what new movie I'm going to see between this movie and Elysium.

Only God Forgives, Red 2, and The Wolverine also looks pretty good imo.

Just saw it for the 2nd time and was just as good. Ill be pretty disappointed if this gets bad reviews. Del Toro delivers

I forgot about Wolverine...it looks terrible IMHO but I guess I can't pass up Hugh Jackman looking hot. :o I didn't even finish the first Red because it bored me to tears and I didn't realize Only God Forgives was coming out so soon. So I guess I do have two movies to see.

Ah, I love Red. :csad:

I am even going to go and see RIPD. It has the potential to be so bad it is fun. Jeff Bridges looks like he is having fun.
