Pacific Rim - Part 6

I'll agree with boring and badly acted and poorly written. But I'd say the action scenes were a bit more than mediocre. I didn't find them to be the most amazing things ever not even the best action scenes of the year. I liked Man of Steel's and Wwz's better but I certainly wouldn't call these mediocre

Story-wise and character wise I'd say the movie was okay in terms of its writing but the dialogue was pretty bad or at least not all the way thought out. 'This giant robot full of holographic displays is analog!" etc. Now if the whole analog thing was being used as a comparison or an analogy of how Gipsy Danger was set up different that would make a lot more sense.

Techno-babble is one thing, but misuse of pretty common every day terms is quite another.

This movie was so unbearably awful, boring, badly written, badly acted in between the mediocre action sequences. I give it a zero. Worst movie I've seen in a long time, I wanted to leave in the first ten minutes

You're free to your opinion but that strikes me as beyond hyperbole. :whatever:

It's bordering on troll bait but maybe they really have never seen truly awful films before and watch only Oscar-nominated material so something that doesn't live up to thar higher standard of filmmaking is that bad to them.

I can use hyperbole too. :D

Considering the writing wasn't even at its worst in the first ten minutes, I'm guessing you didn't even want to see this film, so you were set up to see it fail from the start.

Apparently due to the good box office numbers in China, Pacific Rim will be getting a sequel. Anybody got an official source on this? I just saw it pop up on Facebook.

As a person who didn't enjoy the film I don't see how the first 10 minutes are that offensive. I didn't think the first 10 minutes were good but they were okay enough.

Don't put too much stock into such a headline. I'm surprised so many places are running the same story.

It's pure speculation. Yes, it had a great opening in China, but no sequel talk has started because of it.

I am too but the entertainment media never fails to live down to my expectations.

Remember when Tyler Hoechlin was screen testing for Batman? The entertainment media picked up on news from a completely disreputable website and ran with it.

A Pacific Rim sequel has not been greenlit, that is a fact.

I never do, which is why I asked if anyone had an official source :woot:

If they do make a sequel, they need more roles for women.

If you liked the story, characters and focus of Pacific Rim you'll probably like Elysium too. Just FYI

Hmm...I wanna see that as well. Loved District 9. It looks like a sequel to it at first.

Such cynicism, guys. Lighten up.

No one said a sequel will happen. They said a sequel is likely. They're speculating.

And I wouldn't call Deadline a disreputable website. That's why so many sites are running the story.

impossible to know when a movie will become a cult classic. it has everything to do what kind of movies new generations like. PR and scott pilgrim ? i think not.

Scott Pilgrim is already a mini cult film. There have been a lot of special screenings of it and it plays to a very niche but passionate fanbase.

Yep, Deadline reporting it is what gave me some hope that this sequel talk may actually be true. I have seen sequel reports from many other web-sites that have never come to fruition but deadline is pretty good in this regard.

I agree, Scott Pilgrim is totally a cult film. Too early to tell whether Pacific Rim will be or not, but the safe bet is that it will.

I'm sure it will. It's not only got the niche thing going for it, but it also had good critical reception. Those two are always good indicators.

Oh please nobody has a 100% record, least of all story stealing Deadline Hollywood. Deadline does not know if there is going to be a sequel yet. The idea that a sequel is locked to a film that isn't going to come close to reaching it's 180-190mil budget domestically is ridiculous.

The difference between you and I is that I don't take everything at face value that's posted on the internet. I will wait for comformation from Legendary and Universal.

When in my post did I take it at face value? You're being ridiculous, Spidey, especially when I said in my post that no one said a sequel will happen. Also, I never said Deadline had a 100% record, which makes your post also very strawman.

I'm just saying that Deadline's one of the more reliable sites in terms of news. It's up there with Variety, in which most movie websites get their news from. With that said, I never said that they knew it would they would get a sequel. I'm just responding to posters telling posters not to jump to conclusions when no one actually did. :funny:
