Pacific Rim - Part 6

OMG, I loved "Roar" so much. It was the only thing in that movie I loved. And yes, it was totally wasted. Would have worked great for a movie like PR, imo.

According to an interview with Empire the guy who played Hercules Hanson has said that the next PR movie may be a prequel rather than a sequel. I saw this on the web-site that shall not be named.

Would people be okay with this? I certainly would, as it would mean Idris Elba coming back, and we would get to see some of the earlier monsters in action. Not to mention we would get to see more Jaegars as well.

A full on Jaeger war would be awesome. More countries, more Jaegers. I'd really dig it. This series could go either way and work for me.

I'd be OK with that. There use to be a lot of Jaegers before the movie's story started.it's of history to explore.

I cannot believe I did not pick this up on home video before today but walmart had it for 15 bucks on blu so I snagged it along with Kick-Ass 2 :)

On some level a prequel arguably works more because the ending for Pacific Rim doesn't leave things open as much as a prequel would.

Some of the ideas they has for a sequel sounded a lot more interesting or crazier. Which is what I would prefer to see.

I mean I generally don't like prequels, so I would rather see a sequel.

But I mean, the movie didn't make huge money, so it's still hard to see this might get done.

I don't know if there necessarily needs to be a continuation of Pacific Rim, sequel or otherwise. I felt like it was a really great standalone experience, which is something I appreciate more and more because that sort of thing is so rare these days.

On the other hand... Pacific Rim was pretty ****ing rad I want more.

Plus, if it's a prequel we could get more of those based Russians. :awesome:

Same here, I would be happy with a prequel or sequel as there is a lot of history to explore before PR happens, and in a sequel things could get crazier.

I am still not sure if we will get either so it may well be a money thing and we get whichever one is cheaper, but I will happy with any continuation of this world in another movie.

Ha ha, Rinko has a sexy tongue! She looks like she has a great sense of humour.

Still better than Miley Cyrus.

Rinko was easily one of my fave things about PR, I LOVED her in Brothers Bloom :hrt:

Finally got around to reading the novelization of this film. Honestly, the story is pretty great. Sadly GDT really let me down in his direction of it all.

As usual they cut out alot of cool things. Alot more appreciate for solo piloting, especially when given the vivid details about pentacost. A 3 hour slow burn, yikes.
I also enjoyed experiencing the hong kong battle from everyone's perspective by the gypsy crew.
Mostly I appreciated the underdogs that no one has faith in and keeps putting down(especially during hong kong deployment), kick serious butt.
VINDICATION.

Just watched this film again since seeing it in theaters.

Still hate it. Awful dialogue, terrible acting especially from the male lead and the action scenes were so shrouded in darkness and rain that I couldn't even feel the "beats' in them. I don't know, I know a lot of people liked this film but I think it is trash.

I feel the same way. The dialogue is the worst part. Then the cheesy stereotype characters. But a ton of people loved it here. And that's fine. Just don't go hating on iron man 3 and praise this film :o

A prequel would be pretty dumb mostly because prequels in general are pretty well useless in terms of story telling.

Or you know they are two different films being judge for different criteria. I like both but that is kind of a stupid way to approach movies.

You need a better TV.

Yeah, it's pretty awesome in HD. It really is a polarizing movie. You pretty much know if this is down your alley or not the moment you watch the trailer. Might just watch it again tonight. This is up there with Avengers for me as far as good fluff goes.

^I'm the same, and yeah in HD you can see everything in the movie crystal clear, its amazing and a movie that was made for HD. I love the cheese in the movie, for me it adds to what they were trying to do and of course then there is concept which is just great.

I get how the movie can be polorizing, I personally think it's serviceable but the goings on during the novelization really turned me onto what this film was trying to do. A shame really. Really dug this book.
