The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Paul Giamatti IS Rhino - Part 2

Yeah, should be good fun.

I'm hoping Webb nails a "day-in-the-life" vibe for the chase scene.

Hopefully we get the impression that stopping Aleksei is all in a day's work for spidey, then things get progressively more out of his league as the film progresses.

I think that's going to be the case. Between Spider-Man free-falling and webbing down Aleksei's pants, its going to be a piece of cake.

Then Electro comes in…. :wow:

Yup! That'd be great. Well it looks like he's late for the graduation after Aleksei. Which is classic.

:yay: I can definitely see where Marc describes Electro as someone who's gonna ruin Spider-Man's party. Zimmer score to add....ooh boy.

Paranoia paranoia… lol :)

I've been listening to that over and over. It's so cool. They had to understand the character to make that song, which demonstrates the passion the supergroup has for this movie.

Really hope this movie is as good as it looks. *crossing fingers*

Think they'll ever top the train fight from SM2?

Well there are three major fights in this film (or 2 depending on how you look at it): times square and the power plant/clock tower fight.

I think the times square one at this point could top the train fight as long as it doesn't get cut off quickly.

lol, i dunno how much stock i would put in people's answers.

i remember posters on here saying that the school fight was right up there with the train fight in SM2, something that is just utterly wrong to me.

if people think that school fight came close to the train fight, then there's no doubt that they will report tasm2's action as better still.

train fight is miles ahead of anything in tasm1, and ahead of action in other cbms in general. there's a reason it is still cited 10 years later as the pinnacle of super hero fight scenes. so, tasm2 has a lot of work to do, regardless of the fact that its action looks far superior to tasm1's. /end rant.

I remember people saying the high school fight was as good as the train fight from SM2… I really had to disagree with them there.

I also agree that the chase sequence will be lengthy. There's a lot of stages to it:

prelude) the truck being stolen and attached to the big rig
1) cops chasing the car without spider-man having arrived
2) spider-man arriving and jumping from car-to-car
3) spider-man leaving the chase to quickly rescue max
4) aleksei's men shooting from the back of the armored car
5) spider-man re-arriving and taking them out (web yank from set videos)
6) aleksei detaching the truck from the armored car and going it alone
7) spider-man chasing aleksei
8) spider-man stopping the bus
9) spider-man vs. aleksei on foot

Yeah, nice breakdown. This is why I thought the chase scene will be a good 8-10 minutes from start to finish. Maybe longer. There's so much going on here for it to be a simple 3-5 minute action sequence. I'm expecting it to go the distance.

Big time. The school fight was respectable but still quite a low key affair. The sewer encounter with Lizard was a one-on-one thing and over pretty quickly. The Oscorp tower finale had serious ramifications for New York, but the action itself concerned a few inividuals - Spidey, Gwen and Captain Stacey. The scenarios in TASM2 are going to be bigger with a lot more people in the crossfire. Trucks rampaging through the streets, Rhino fully suited up making a mess and Electro trashing Times Square.

Right. Looks like a lot going on in that scene. Although, action can easily overwhelm one especially when it's 10 mins.

Yup. I feel like it has to do with the way they shot this time around. Idk. Making an effort to show bigger environments rather than more small scaled locations. Closed spaces. Look at the shot of Peter on the ledge, or the shot of Times Square falling. The beginning chase scene is gonna feel huge for how any blocks we'll see them going.

They shot part of the chase sequence by Madison Square Park (next to the flat iron building that was used for the daily bugle), so I got to see some of that. Just pure joy that was! :D

Some were even saying that it was better. I disagree. The HS fight was awesome in its own right but nowhere near the epic of the train sequence. ASM2 is presenting action on that same epic-sized scale so there's the possibility either the truck chase, TS fight, or final battle can become the best action sequence in a Spidey film.

I agree with you there. I think we can say for certain though that the action sequences in TASM2 are going to beat the ones from TASM1 easily.

Also, its funny but my favorite "action" scene from TASM1 is Peter hunting down his Uncle Ben's killer, and ends up getting chased by all those goons in the alleyway.

What made the "Train Fight" so epic, they actual fought and their unique abilities accompany their battle, it wasn't upfront. I don't see anything come remote close to the Train or HS fight with Electro & Goblin. As I have said before, the sequence with Electro is him shooting bolts, strings, and expansive sheets of electricity at Spidey, as Spidey simply dodging, as Electro mostly misses. Goblin will just simply fly around chunking grenades, razors, other weaponry gadgets, as well as, shooting bullets small missiles.

I'm betting the battles with Rhino will probably the most memorable, and more exciting to watch...simply because it will give Spidey the opportunity to home all his skills, abilities, and talents to combat Rhino, as he had to do with DocOck & Lizard.

Well, we have the picture of Peter doing something with his web shooters in his basement. He's probably creating a non conductive webbing to use against him. Marc pointed that out way before the trailers started hitting. How do you combat someone when your webs conduct electricity? I like how he has to use his brain to beat this villain, brain over brawn.

Spidey will have plenty of chances to use his brain, his unique abilities and the environment to take down his foes. Webb spoke of Spider-man being a virtuoso with his powers and I expect them to showcase that fully.
