Then why don't they go to school?
You tell me why, we drop out of school.
You tell me why, we drop out of school.
Lazyness, drugs, and more lazyness. Simple as that.HellOnEarth said:Then why don't they go to school?

You seem to be circling around a point, but I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Care to clarify?HellOnEarth said:It's like this--if you wanna be rich in White America, get an education; if you wanna be poor, don't. 50% of the high schoolers seems they want to be poor--because 50 of them drop out of high school.![]()
Proper English? And what exactly is proper English?Dangerous said:The austrailians also cant speak proper english.
Mal'Akai said:I see you support the theory of, "An entire country must adapt to a few people who decide to move there." And it truely offends me, when I have people who want to do business with me, but refuse to speak my language. They come to me, and expect me to speak Spanish for them. They make no effort to speak English. Most of them just sit there, nod, and smile, as if giving the impression they are understanding, then when they give me a yes/no answer when I ask how old their kid is, I find out they don't speak English. And you're right, it's Mexicans. I have yet to meet anyone from any other country that does not at least make an effort to speak English or at least tell me upfront, that they don't speak English. No one has ever asked me to speak Hindi, German, French, any one of the many African languages. I have no problem with people immigrating to this country. And you're right, that this country is a melting pot. But why is it you don't feel that Mexicans need to melt a bit?? Why should the people who are already here be the only one's doing the melting???
I stand corrected. I wasn't sure on that one. Thanks for clearing it up.triplefive said:what?
in some provinces, we learn french as part of our school curriculum. immigrants who are over school-age have absolutely no obligation to learn any language.

Look, let's say one day, you meet a Chinese man. You say, "Hi." He punches you in the face and walks away. From then on, every Chinese man you meet, does the same thing. Punches you in the face and walks off. Would you eventually begin to shy away from Chinese men, if all the ones you kept meeting punched you in the face?? I'm fairly certian you would begin to avoid them like the plague! I know it's extreme, but the point is conditioning. If the people you enconter from a specific culture all treat you the same way, you begin to form generalized opinions about that group.muertevilla said:Well maybe your business would florish if you weren't so stubborn. Mexicans are our neighbors to the south. When we get immigrants from overseas, of course they are expected to learn english, they are going to the other side of the world. but mexico and the spanish language have always been a part of what is now the U.S. and already have heavy influence on american culture. its in our music, tv, advertising and numerous forms of media. i dont see any other channels from european countries here besides maybe the bbc. and you keep talking about el paso and about how hard it was to do business there. even though el paso is on the US side, it is basically Mexico, as are most border towns in Texas. Dont you remember texas was a part of mexico once? you think just because america pushed it borders further south, it pushed the people out with it? We are here to stay. There are only a few mexican people i know that dont feel the need to learn english, but most others pick up what they can from their jobs or actually go out and buy audio/video learning tapes. there is one called Follow Me that has been promoting the learning of the english language and its benefits in mexico for several years. so dont go generalizing a whole population because of your missed financial opportunities.

My whole point is that if you are going to move to country that doesn't speak your language, it is YOUR responsibility to learn the language of this country, preferably before you move there. It should NOT be the responsibility of that country's citizens to adapt to you.
