Yeah, it says they have jobs that people with down's syndrome can perform (thank goodness.) Not everyone can be an alpha and the gamma's need jobs too!

Has it maybe occured to you that they are in the process of learning the language? Like I said, English is a very, VERY difficult language to learn how to speak, especially for a fully-grown adult.

You have to understand, our language doesn't exactly make sense like Spanish or French do, for example. You can't just hop over the border, pull open a book and learn English in twenty minutes. It doesn't work like that. It takes a VERY long time.

One of my dad's best friends had come over here when he was 10 from Cuba, and it took him until he was 17 to become fully acclimated to the language. Seven years, for a kid. Now just imagine how long it could take an adult who has spoken the language for his whole like.

It's not as easy as "LEARN ENGLISH, BEEYOTCH!" and they do it.

Damn straight. The only real way to learn a language is to go somewhere and live there, work there, soak it up. And odds are it's gonna take a while. I plan to move to France for good next year to do just that, and luckily, if the near year I spent there last year is any indication, they aren't anywhere near as snooty about it as our country can be. If you even try there, they get really happy even if you're butchering it.

English is one of the most difficult languages to learn,and chances are if they did speak a little bit,you would have a hard time understanding it.American english is influenced by many other languages.I can see why some people would just give up,and choose to live in areas with people who share the same culture and language.Sure its taking the easy way out,but unless you have the patience to "deal with" these people,then you should just stop complaining.

Ironically, the girlfriend's grandmother sounds much more fluent speaking korean than she does english. I'm attempting to learn slowly, but her phrases in her native tongue make more sense than her attempts at speaking the king's english.

Well, Wal-Mart is full of lower class people and the less educated you are the less likely you'll speak the language correctly. I know this sounds harsh but it's the truth. Of course, I'm talking about U.S. born citizens here. As far as immigrants go, I do think they should make an attempt to learn the language but as others have said, it's a hard language to learn for some. I'm willing to cut people a little slack.

I was in Walmart today and this woman who was suppose to be helping me couldn't even answer my question, I could barely tell what she was saying.

I'm really sick of this crap!

When America was founded,only 1 language was spoken.English,since America was a colony of Great Britain.Later on German and Irish came to America,the languages were spoken,but slowly assimilated into American culture.English was the official language for over 100 years,until about 30 years ago when hispanics invaded America.
