The Amazing Spider-Man Percy Jackson's Logan Lerman in Early Talks for Spider-Man

Logan was bland and lacks personality. He's got a sort of muscled, wiry physique but that's it.

He does not have the chops to be Spider-man.

He couldn't carry Percy Jackson at all.

Bland? Lacks pesonality? Doesn't have the chops to be spider-man?

Out of genuine interest could you explain why? I watched the film and while watching him all I could see was Peter Parker, particularly. I'm sorry but I don't see the adjectives you used to describe Logan and yet, I'm sure you and others will go on to say how great Maguire was playing spidey. It's like some people were expecting a Daniel Day-Lewis type performance from this kid.

In my honest opinion, based on Percy Jackson, Lerman, especially with a good script to work with would completely own the role of spidey and make the whole world forget about Maguire in an instant.

I thought he was talking about Tobey Maguire, lol.

oh good grief, you don't like tobey maguire, we get it, JEEZ!

Arnold Schwarzenegger should play Spider-Man. :awesome:

The whole movie was a little bland, but especially Lerman. I suppose his delivery of those few one liners ('Heads up', etc.) would work for Spider-Man, but I just don't see it. He didn't inject a lick of energy into his performance. Even the half-goat thing managed to break free of the dull movie's cuffs.

I did catch Pleasantville on cable that was a good whimsical movie (this is where he's more like Peter Parker to me than the Spidey films)...and I really enjoyed him in The Cider House Rules. But he sucks as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, but I mostly blame the script and direction.

well regardless you're free of him.

I dont think he will able to play Spider-Man. He said in an interview on TV,that he would love to be considered at least, but with signing on to more PJ movies he will be too busy and he thinks juggling big movie roles like that will be too overwhelming.

I wouldn't be angry if Lerman was cast as Spider-Man. I didn't really like the Percy Jackson movie all that much, the script was mediocre and there wasn't alot of chemistry between the actors.

I guess I might've been too critical of the film, as I was holding Lerman to my Spider-Man standards.

I don't get it, you think Lerman is a bland actor, yet for some of you Tobey IS Spider-Man. It doesn't make freaking sense.

I didn't think maguire was bland at all and there are certain scenes where he is excellent. each to their own. as for lerman in PJ to be fair EVERYONE dials in their performance.

Why do people go to a Percy Jackson movie and expect Lerman to be Spider-Man? He wasnt playing Spider-Man. He was playing Percy Jackson. His portrayal of Peter could be totally different and much less bland than Percy.

Didn't see Percy Jackson but he did do a good job in 3:10 to Yuma and in the clips of that film he did with Aaron Eckhert he did good imo. PJATO , did look like a bland film anyway , so I don't know how much of it was the script. I'd have to see more performances of his before I can say the guy is a bland actor. Even with that said, the Fact of the matter is we won't know how good he, or anyone else, will be as Peter Parker/Spiderman until the film is in the can.

Percy Jackson is supposed to be a bland character?

The script was obviously not written to have much depth to the characters. It was really a kids movie after all, the focus was on the action and story line, not the character dynamics.

No offense, but why are all of you going to see this children's film? This guy is in other films where you can get a better range of stuff from him.

Lets see, a high school student who finds that he has powers beyond that of his peers in a big budget action movie.

Yeah I think people are right to judge him based on his performance as Percy Jackson.

not really, you could have bad dialogue, bad direction etc.
how can good actors give bad performances? for instance I thought hopkins was terrible in wolfman.

So because the premise is the same that means the general direction, the dialogue and the portrayed situations are the same? You're tough.

Then again, Maguire did spend almost a decade playing Spider-Man in a children's franchise. I hope to hell James Vanderbilt went 'Zodiac' in terms of intelligence with the script. If I see another Spider-Man movie made for 8 year olds, I'm gonna puke.

Dude the first two SPider-Man films had maturity and intelligence with thought provoking ideas underneath and themes. More so SM2. Spider-Man is meant for all ages. Just because a guy wrote Zodiac doesn't mean he's going to give you a more mature Spider-Man.
