Well, he's the right actor for the job. He's got the looks, the acting chops, the voice. He emits more personality and confidence than Tobey ever did in all 3 Movies. If the news are true and he actually gets locked as Spider-Man, we can count ourselves extremely lucky.

Sure, They look similar if your partially blind... :p and they both have kind of long hair, but the styles are completely different. and no, he isn't well known. We might know him here because he is a very big suggestion for this role, but I highly doubt half the people know him by name. Maybe as the kid from Percy Jackson, but that's just a maybe. Worthington and lerman are totally different. Lerman definitly isn't a big ne actor like someone like zac efron or something, now that's someone basically everyone knows.

Anyways, lermans got the looks, acting ability and presence for Parker. Give him some glasses and a different hairstyle and he'll be just fine.

I still wouldn't mind Lerman. This casting has my blessing.

Hmm... Alright.

One thing is for sure, they are taking their time casting this one.

the article is strange though because it says lerman is 'nearly' 100% and then goes onto say he hasn't entered negotiations yet...erm...

Over at IGN it seems Logan is a sure in for the role, but we just have to wait for Sony's official announcement

Haven't seen any of his movies. so I don't have an opinion about him right now.

UGHHHH now not only is Sony denying the confirmation, but they're saying he's not even on the list!

While the website Hitfix reported today that Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief star Logan Lerman was the clear first choice and "almost 100% locked" into becoming the next Peter Parker in the rebirth of the Spider-Man franchise, insiders at Sony say that the young actor is not getting the role. In fact, these sources were very definitive in denying the story, and were sure that Lerman was 100% not going to be Spidey and that he is not on the list of candidates being seriously considered. for the new film that will be directed by (500) Days of Summer helmer Marc Webb. On the other hand, Drew McWeeny is often right about stuff--he was first to accurately note that Fox was eyeing other directors for the X-Men: First Class spinoff film because Bryan Singer had committed to direct Jack The Giant Killer.

I think this is complete crap already - I mean a good portion of fans can obviosuly see Logan Lerman as the next Spider-Man. He looks like the collective conscious of what we would think Peter Parker would look like. Period.

And apparanetly he can act. You know, the Batman fans wanted Bale, they got 'em. We want Lerman Sony.

Stop yankin' our chains already.

Lerman could barely carry Percy Jackson so Sony probably isn't convinced he could carry a Spider-man movie.

As some of you probably know by now, a story by Drew McWeeny at Hitfix claimed that Lerman was "almost 100% locked" for the role. After that, Mike Fleming at Deadline contacted Sony, who slammed that report mercilessly. A source at Sony apparently told Fleming that not only is the Hitfix report untrue but even said he is "100%" NOT getting the role and is not even on the list of actors being considered. Sounds pretty definitive. There couldn't be two more opposite stories, and both are from what I, and most people in the industry, consider to be reliable sources.

What I DO know, which I reported here over three months ago, is that what Hitfix reported WAS true at one point. I said what Drew said in almost the exact same words back in January and have repeated it many times on Lerman's IMDb message board. It's all there. Lerman WAS on the list and anyone at Sony who says he was not doesn't know what other people at Sony have said.

So the Hitfix report WAS true at one time. What Sony says now implies that he was REMOVED from the list, and they seem to have shut the door on the possibility that he could ever get the role. At any rate, both Drew at Hitfix and I had same info -- it's posted here and elsewhere -- but I don't know how reliable his source is. It simply could be that person had outdated info, since Mike Fleming at Deadline appears to have the newest info as he approached Sony today after Hitfix posted. Since then, Hitfix has come back and denied the veracity of Deadline's source and stands by its original story.

So here is what I know to be true. First, Lerman WAS being considered at some point. Sony even said publicly not long ago that Lerman was on the list. And they didn't say otherwise today ("he is not on the list of candidates"). So Sony didn't lie. They did not say he was never on the list. Second, the only way the Deadline story could be correct is if Lerman was removed from consideration. In that case, they can still say he is not getting the role and can say he is not on the list without ever admitting that they were considering him at one point and took him out of the running. Therefore, both the Hitfix story and the Deadline story can be correct provided that the information given to Deadline is newer than what was given to Hitfix. In that case, nobody has to lie, and Sony can give the role to someone else without it appearing that Lerman was turned down for it. Of course, this also means it would be very difficult for them to actually give him the role now, provided that the information they gave to Deadline is correct.

I guess it depends on what your definition of ''is'' is.

I would say it's not over till its over. sony flat out lied when they said there were no problems with SM4 and the break was purely for the holidays. don't believe or trust anything until it becomes a fact.

Sony is a very secret company when it comes to Spider-Man (their only golden goose) so they must play childish hide-and-seek games with everything that concerns the production. As if admitting that secrecy is the only glue holding their Spidey films together to creates buzz. What are they going to do when they get beat to the punchline with the real actor who's cast, or there's another script leak and you know there will be--it's happen three times already.

Why can't the BUZZ ever circle around having a GREAT SCRIPT?
