Person Of Interest - Part 3

Are you saying this after seeing the episode because
she was shown on an autopsy table. Eyes open and lifeless and pale as ****. Sorry to say man, but she's dead.
Yeah, I know... But this SUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. I'm still in shock.

And holy crap, Michael Emerson is so good.

I'm glad they used the NIN song. I got chills when I heard it start.

Well, that was a suitably amazing 100th episode.

I'm quite pleased that Elias got a proper sendoff. I was pretty ticked earlier when it made it seemed like he really had died in the assassination. I had figured he wouldn't make it out again, though if he had I'd totally have watched a spinoff led by him. Root's death and voice upload by the machine was also very poignant, as was Finch's "breaking bad" monologue.

It sucks that there are only three episodes left, but it looks like we're going out with a bang.

[BLACKOUT]I recall listening to an interview at one of the comic cons with Jonathan and Greg a few yrs ago, and they somewhat hinted that they wanted to give the machine a voice, and @ the time I remember thinking Root might not be around for long ,but she would make an excellent ''voice'' for the Machine so that in a way she can still live on.[/BLACKOUT]

Kudos!

Last night was the first I heard about a voice for the Machine and given someone was going to die tonight, it all clicked and made logical sense. And even when I had a feeling it would be Root's voice on the phone when Finch picked up made it no less effective. Sad to see Root go, she was great, but glad Acker will still be involved.

[BLACKOUT]I feel like it's possible the machine told her. The way she was talking in the car, it felt a bit like she knew. I wonder if the machine ran it's simulations, this led to the best outcome, and it asked if she was okay with it. But then again, could just be foreshadowing and not intended as such.

A tiiiiiny bit of me is holding out hope this is part of a plan between the two, to push Finch over the edge so he could do what needed to be done, but then they showed her on the table and I don't know how you'd fake that...[/BLACKOUT]

Well, you know...

That could still be the plan. Unfortunately, the plan involved Root's death and Root was probably prepared for that sacrifice.

Have you seen LOST? Emerson is indeed epic. It will be interesting to see him in these final episodes.

Loved last night's episode. It left me reeling even though I felt it coming as they drove down the street together. I practically flinched at the moment. Episodes like last night are why I love the show.

What if the Machine purposely sacrificed Root so that it would spur Harold into taking action?

Kinda off topic but was Reese really supposed to die in Season 4? I read that he was but they changed course when Sarah had to leave the show because of her pregnancy.

**** me.... That was a bloody amazing episode despite....you know...

Emerson during the 'Rules' scene knocked it out the park, superb and I really hope he (and the show in general) gets some recognition for his work as Finch....and it's twice now that Emerson has had a spine tingling scene on a TV show where he talks about rules

To mis-quote Dr Who... I don't want this show to go....

Just remembered this scene from the full season trailer...

Finch is in Times Square (along with a Jonah Nolan cameo!) and the lights go out and they all look up at the screens. Now I'm wondering if The Machine addressees the world in the form of Root. That would be wild.

Probably won't be that, but it's fun to speculate...

I was thinking it was Samaritan finally letting the world know of its presence

I have only two modes ...Calm, and furious. It's a rare person that sees the latter and lives to talk about it. -Finch (S4E03)

Great quote! It's like they already told us... and Alias confirmed it... and now [BLACKOUT]even the machine is scared of what Harold might do[/BLACKOUT]!

Good god man. Everything about that episode was crazy. I can't believe Root is gone but ever since last year I felt like she would be one to go. At least her voice will still be important. That speech by Michael Emerson at the end gave me the chills combined with NIN at the end, just reinforced the reason why I fell in love with this show.

I'm glad Reese didn't die in season 4. To me Reese and Finch are the center of the show. I feel like the show has to end with Reese finding some measure of peace. Regardless, in the first episode, Finch did say at some point either he and Reese would probably end up dead.

Still I've lost count the number of times Reese has been shot but recovers every time. Like he should be dead at this point.

@Pecola1
I don't think nor get why The Machine would be scared of what Harold might do, she knows him better than he does at this point.

It costs the life of the analog interface for Harold to finally understand, it was about time he gets it.
I'm glad that the secondary asset is still alive.

I really hope it doesn't come down to the team vs Harold, assuming they actually disable Samaritan first.

Fully agree.

I JUST got around to watching the latest episode and I'm devastated, stunned and speechless... it was just heartbreaking to watch as the police reached the fatally-wounded Root towards the end... and JUST when she and Shaw were reunited in the previous episode... I feel so bad for the rest of the team, Shaw especially... I just can't BEGIN to imagine how SHE must feel, especially after all the simulations that she went thru in Johannesburg... at least Ms. Groves will now live on thru ROOT, the AI formerly known as the Machine... a fitting tribute to the original Root...

RIP Ms. Groves... you'll really be missed by me and the rest of your fans and Team Machine...

great performances by Amy Acker... I'll never forget how the character of Root started... and look how it all ended up for her and her name... she came a long way...

Just think Elias and Root started off as VILLAINS early on in this series. The strength of great writing and amazing performances added so much depth to these characters.

Aloha,
I would agree. Great episode. I really hope this show goes over to Netflix.
Spidey rules

From the description of the final episode and the photos they released, it looks like the finale will take mainly in the subway hideout.
