Action-Adventure Power Rangers 4.0 - Part 2

Because it's on Netflix, I am watching Power Rangers Ninja Steel right now and the one glaring negative is that they did a poor job in this series replicating Bulk and Skull with Victor and Monty.

That she never apologized? Pretty sure she did.

He inadvertently brought Rita back which killed Trini leaving Minh an orphan. She can feel a way. But to each their own
No she didnt. I was waiting for it in her final scene with Billy but all she never actually said sorry

I wondered if they had asked her about that song. A pity people are angry with her. Sometimes, the timing just doesn't work out.

As for Minh, I think they are really going for a teenager with attitude vibe, which they did.

I would like the possible next MMPR special to cover the multiverse and highlight these timelines:

-Regular timeline
-Sentai timeline
-Lost pilot timeline
-1995 movie timeline
-2017 movie timeline
-Boom Studios timeline

So I just got done with Power Rangers Ninja Steel and here are my thoughts:

- There are two guys who are basically a more annoying knockoff of Bulk and Skull. One of them is the typical nerd and the other is basically a Paul Rudd Clone gone horribly wrong.
- The final appearance of JDF as Tommy. In the episode of all of the classic Rangers from various teams together, I thought it was interesting that they didn't get all of the Rangers teams. What was interesting though was that Kat was in Zeo Rangers Pink and Rocky was in MMPR Red. We know from Once and Always that Jason was the Red Ranger at the start of the movie.
- Other than the two Bulk and Skull knockoffs, the rest of the characters were pretty good. I don't know if we're ever going to see any of the Ninja Steel Rangers again though. Mick and Redbot were interesting characters.

About Minh: if she has a future as the Yellow Ranger, she's going to have to have people her own age and it would have to require an introduction to a new set of teenagers to Angel Grove. I would do a new MMPR series like Cobra Kai. As we already know, in Cobra Kai, there is a whole new group of kids but at the same time pays respect to the old cast from the three Karate Kid movies as it's also the continuation of Danny and Johnny's stories. With a new MMPR series like Cobra Kai, you can have a new team of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers but could still continue to give David Yost and Walter Jones major roles in a new series and have Catherine Sutherland, Steve Cardenas, Johnny Yong Bosch and Karan Ashley show up from time to time. Now Kat and Tommy's son JJ might be one of the newer Rangers, but I get the sense that JJ doesn't live in Angel Grove. I am not sure how she fits into Power Rangers Dino Fury/Cosmic Fury yet, as I have not see the show, although I plan on it (from what I have heard, it doesn't take place in Angel Grove).

For Sentai's side...

Donbrothers vs Zenkaiger movie will start showing here at selected theaters next week.

Here is some little promo pic.
(It's nice to see the cast of Zenkaiger again after 2 years...:D)

Got done with Power Rangers: Dino Fury and I have some thoughts:

- They are trying to connect this show to MMPR, which leads me to this theory I have that I will mention later. They mention BuzzBlast opening a branch in Angel Grove, which as we know was where the MMPR are from. We saw the BuzzBlast in Angel Grove when one of the characters on this show was reporting of a putty attack at the Juice Bar in Once and Always. Also of course, Lord Zedd. They didn't get into much of what he did with the MMPR and I thought that was interesting and plays into the theory that I have. The opening of the BuzzBlast in Angel Grove could connect Minh to Dino Fury/Cosmic Fury.
- Jane and her robot J-Borg are quite the characters. Jane is quite open to allowing characters who don't work there to hang out at BuzzBlast as only two of the characters only work there.
- It's a fun show and I like all of the characters.

So my theory is that
since the Dino Fury Rangers will become the Cosmic Fury Rangers in order to fight Lord Zedd, it's only natural that the show brings in former Power Rangers who have dealt with Lord Zedd before. So my theory is that the Cosmic Fury Rangers will run into Space Patrol Alpha, which has Aisha and Adam as part of it. I find it hard to believe that there won't be any former Power Rangers from MMPR in Cosmic Fury, especially with Lord Zedd as the main antagonist. I thought about the possibility of the Power Rangers in Space team, but they have never dealt with Lord Zedd. I am not sure that the Dino Fury Rangers are aware that Zedd played a role in the MMPR losing their powers twice.

So I said that BuzzBlast in Angel Grove could connect Minh to Dino Fury/Cosmic Fury. Here would be how I would do it

she would work at BuzzBlast's Angel Grove branch, working with people her age or maybe a few years older. It would be different than the Angel Grove Youth Center/Juice Bar setting that we saw in MMPR, Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo and at the end of Once and Always. Besides, Jane is quite liberal in allowing characters who don't work at BuzzBlast in Pine Ridge to hang out there, so the rules are likely going to be the same in Angel Grove. She would also be working for Jane so she could easily meet Amelia and Javi but may not know that they are Power Rangers or vice versa.

Lost Galaxy was fun and I recognized Archie Kao from the original CSI.

I am going with Time Force next unless Light Speed Rescue is something that is must watch. After that it's Wild Force and then Dino Charge, as they have made appearances in Ninja Steel and Beast Morphers.

I would recommend Lightspeed Rescue because it’s pretty fun as well. I haven’t watched since I was a kid but I remember liking it a lot back then.

Yeah, I need to go to Lightspeed Rescue. About Time Force, the series is interesting and I can see why the Time Force Red Ranger , Wes Collins is one of the more popular Power Rangers characters outside the MMPR (since he's made other appearances in the franchise). The robot sidekick is adorable. I didn't understand the storyline of the Lightspeed Rangers, so I need to get into that and I will this coming weekend. I have already started on Wild Force, so I need to finish that.

I always wanted to try to watch Lightspeed Rescue as they are the only PR series that had the original Western ranger in the Silver Ranger GoGo V (GoGo V only had 5 members while Lightspeed Rescue had 6).

I've also watched a few episode of SPD (as they are available on Toei Channel and having the cast of Dekaranger dubbed their American counterpart cast) and I like how they managed to get the alien world and atmosphere more than Dekaranger.

If i remember correctly, LSR was very sentai heavy in their crossover with Lost Galaxy which really turned me off. And of course contract breakdowns forcing a certain character to be slighty recast didn't help much.

SPD is my favorite series. Granted its the last one I watched bc I was turned off by the Harry Potter inspired one that came afterwards and what I saw of Operation Overdrive was terrible

7 episodes into Wild Force and I don't really know what to make of it.

So what do you guys think should happen to the franchise after the 30th season? A total reboot of the franchise? Or continue on? For me it's the latter. My idea is to "Cobra Kai" the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Once and Always is a nice starting point to "Cobra Kai" the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, with Minh as the Third Yellow Ranger. My idea is that you can have a brand new crop of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers but it remain a continuation of the original. You would have Billy have the same role as he did in Power Rangers Zeo and Zack would eventually have to give up his Mastadon powers again but still have a fairly significant role. You can sprinkle in appearances from Rocky, Aisha, Adam and Kat from time to time....or even Bulk and Skull.

I can't see a total reboot happening, especially if the upcoming Cosmic Fury:

doesn't have the new Yellow Ranger, Minh in it. Otherwise, what is the point of introducing her in Once and Always if the plan is to totally reboot the franchise after Cosmic Fury? I can't see it. Now they can do a separate Power Rangers movie in an alternate universe while continuing the current universe. I can see that, but not a total reboot

As for Cosmic Fury:

there are rumors of an Orange Power Ranger upcoming as well as some MMPR we saw in Once and Always, most notably David Yost, Karan Ashley and Johnny Yong Bosch

It does have the best anniversary episode and one of the more popular villains.

Honestly, I don't know what to expect, with Hasbro currently in the process of selling E-One, their TV and Film division.

Personally, as nice as the special was, I really don't want to stick with MMPR stuff forever.

Minh would have to return for a future Power Rangers series, whether it's MMPR, Cosmic Fury or something else. Otherwise it would not have made any sense to debut her as the third Yellow Ranger and then not do anything with her ever again. It's not what they usually do, based on the Power Rangers series I have seen so far.

BTW, she might not be the rumored Orange Power Ranger in Cosmic Fury as it is rumored to be Fern, Izzy's love interest in Dino Fury. If she's not in Cosmic Fury, then Dino Fury/Cosmic Fury would be the first Power Rangers series without a Yellow Ranger. Plus if there is an Orange Power Ranger, that would make it 7 Cosmic Fury Rangers and they might need 8 to stop Lord Zedd if he's more powerful than he was in MMPR.

They have also not done anything like Once & Always before. And all things considered, Power Rangers is kind of in a weird spot at the moment, with Hasbro looking to sell E-One.

I think PR series should be able to continue on like Sentai...Sentai currently on the 47th series and on its way into the 50th anniversary coming 2025....then there is no reason why PR should stop now or getting rebooted.

I am aware that Zyuranger/Original MMPR were huge and the most popular series in US, but imo, like Sentai, PR should tell a different themes with brand new story and characters for each seasons, rather than retelling and using the same villains and characters over and over again.

What I love most about Sentai is how self contained each series/seasons from another.
As much as I love Shinkenger and Gokaiger (two of my most favorites), I really don't want an endless seasons with them over and over again. After the story concluded, I prefer to just move on and tell a brand new story and the brand new characters, because there are still so many ideas and themes that can be used and experimented on for both Sentai and Power Rangers to keep things fresh and unique at the same time.

And imo...PR shouldn't be afraid to take chances with some weird or unusual themes and motifs. Thats how they skipped ToQger, Zyuouger, Lupinranger vs Patranger, Kyuranger (and I am quite sure that Zenkaiger and Donbrothers will be skipped as well) as I heard that the themes and costume motifs are very unusual and weird for American taste.

Haha...yeah...Magiranger/Mystic Force was heavily inspired by Magic/Harry Potter world, ...though Magiranger added some elements of Star Wars too, particularly the son-father relationship of Kai/Red Ranger and Wolzard, which reminded me of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

The very next series, Operation Overdrive/Boukenger's theme was inspired by Indiana Jones/Treasure Hunting adventure troupe. Haha.
