Prometheus - Part 8

...and I honestly believe the bar was set incredibly high with this film and a lot more people are dissecting it intensely than most other films on here may go through. I'm an ultimate nitpicker and I don't know why any 'plot holes' or 'plot rambling' has bothered me to the fact it's hindered my enjoyment of the film or anything in general.

I don't know if they need to make a sequel quite honestly. I like the vague ending and think it works better probably in our imagination than it would say in Prometheus 2.
I don't consider the end of Prometheus a "vague" ending, in fact it seemed like the ending of a shot back-to-back film, if there's not a sequel then it will be just a big hole filling the gap of Prometheus and Alien, with the characters not having a true closure

I just want to see Prometheus 2 to see if my favorite theory about its mythological basis is right. The fact alone that Soctt wants to name it Paradise really intrigues me.

Wow, that does sound pretty great.

this is true. they also didnt complain about star wars prequels and a lot big budget fanboys movies that fans didnt like. but this is SHH. so what do you mean ? :cwink:

Are you kidding me? I hate the Star wars prequels. With. A. Passion.

Prometheus is like Citizen Kane compared to that ****e.

Well the sequel would be this

Man after reading the delays and problems with World War Z and now this, is 2013 the year of the bloated movies or what?

Return of the Jedi isn't very good either, and Revenger of the Sith was good

Jedi was two movies to me. Everything up until the Ewoks was cool. Everything post-Ewoks was the beginning of Lucas's descent into madness. If they had just kept their original plan (make the planet the Wookie home-planet, and not wimp out on killing Solo) the movie would have been much better.

Revenge? Eh.... I think the movie gets a better rep than it deserves just because it was such a step up from Phantom Menace and Attack. It didn't compare to New Hope or Empire though.

I think the laziest thing about Jedi was Lucas reusing the Death Star for a second time.

But the character arcs that come full circle in the film, make it far better than anything the prequels did.

Paradise, huh? That'll be interesting. I can taste the religious metaphors and allegories from here.

As I suspected, Ridley and 20th Century Fox cut out 20-30 minutes worth of material. I recall Theron and Fassbender were discussing a certain scene with the Space Jockey/Engineer that didn't make the final version of the film. Quite frankly, I don't know why Ridley & Crew edit out so much from their movies.

Yep, I agree. The movie's ending tied heavily into the whole point of what ultimately becomes of searching for our creation; more searching.

While I, of course, want to see a sequel to expand on what was done, I hardly feel like it's necessary to make the first movie make sense.

The Star Wars prequels had better actors than the orginal trilogy yet still had worst acting than the orginal films.

At some point you have to blame the director. Lucas used to be a good storyteller, but he was never a good director.

Yeah, i also prefered their original plan, but the original plan was also going to set up another trilogy where Luke would find his true sister and finally defeat Palpatine.

I probably like Episode III so much because it was the film that make me a Star Wars fan, but no, it doesn't compare to New Hope or Empire Strikes Back

I despise ROTS purely because it basically made one of the best villains ever into almost wholly pathetic and whiny emokid. :o

That damage was already done in AotC

Didn't know the Prometheus thread suddenly turns into the bash SW prequel thread... though I'm not surprised given that this is the internet.

Any thread on this site can at any time, become a discussion about how crappy the Star Wars prequels are :woot:

There needs to be a sequel with answers for me to appreciate it in the long run...Or it will be a good film only, not a great one

Nah, they could've at least matured him some between the two movies.

Or had his actual turn to the dark side be more than the teenage angst-attack it was.

Sorry if i can't have 2 or 3 posts about that topic, i guess turning this into a kingdom of heaven and Blade Runner thread isn't a problem given that they were topics previously covered in these threads too.

Yeah, but on a positive side the Clone Wars tv show is doing quite a good job with that.

Okay, so if I'm following this thread correctly, in order of quality, we have...

3. Star Wars Prequels
2. Prometheus
1. Christopher Nolan
