Batman Begins Rachel was such an annoying rude cow

One of my favorite scenes - where Batman confronts Rachel the first time - is damn near ruined by Katie Holmes' "acting."

"Why?" "What's this?" "For what?" "Who are you?"

Okay, Katie, we get that you don't have much dialogue to work with - but you don't have to deliver every line so tersely and emotionlessly.

I have nothing to add to this conversation.
My friend used to date this one girl that my other friend said looked like a fat Katie Holmes and called the girlfriend a cow.
The thread title made me laugh because of this.
That is all. :yay:

I thought she was fine. I don't understand the hate she gets.

I thought Katie was cute but her acting could have been better. Maggie is a good actor but she could be better looking. We need Katie's looks with Maggie's acting, IMO.

I still dont know why the thread is calling her a cow, its not like she was overweight or anything.

I watched BB again today, and I paid attention to Holmes' acting. Seriously, while I don't think she's a great actress or anything, she did alright. Nothing worth remembering of course, but she did not sound fake or anything, which is enough for me, considering the amount of awesomeness that came from the rest of the cast's performances.

I'm confident Gyllenhall's performance is better, though, I just don't think Holmes deserves such hate. Okay, she's a mindless sheep when it comes to her personal life, but she didn't ruin BB at all for me.

I have more issues with the role itself than with the actress.

Defitinitely agree with the annoying and rude part of the Batman Begins Rachel Dawes. From what has been said Maggie does a better job but I still don't like the character.

Just the line in the trailers from her "Bruce, Don't make me your only hope for a Normal Future" makes me shake my head. Yeah, without you Bruce would have no chance of having an "normal future", sure Rachel. It's all about you, I mean without an Assistant D.A. by his side what would Bruce ever do in the future.:whatever:

Wasn't that her point? For him not to use only her as a means to be normal. 'Cos the only other person he has is Alfred and possibly (but not completely is) Lucius. So no women for one.

By the way I thought she looked too young for the part.

Maggie was much more sophisticated as Rachel in TDK than Katie Holmes. She was actually a little intimidating when mad and was full of confidence. Katie Holmes, I can't take seriously. She had as much expression in Batman Begins as a foot rest. There also seemed to be better chemistry between Maggie and Christian.

What was really annoying about Batman Begins...

Just yesterday I watched that "making of" promoting the film with Nolan saying that they went for epic casting like late 70s movies, and in the footage they show... Katie Holmes alongside legends like Liam Neeson, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Rudger Hauer. With Bale as the frontman, this was a really epic ensemble, and she was out of place, she looked like a 16-year old girl. She's fine, but more fit as the pretty/cute girl in other types of movies, she was the weak link in BB.

Haha,

"That's right you better run"

I could act better than that after 20 bottles of beer. Of course I don't drink anyway...

I didn't mind Holmes in BB, actually i would have liked her to come back for TDK, so that the continuity could have been kept in tact. Maggie did o.k, but not much greater than Katie. I think if Maggie had played Rachel in BB, there wouldn't be such hate for the Rachel character.

The one scene i hated Katie in was the scene after she's poisoned, and is supposedly hallucinating off of the fear toxin, in the Tumbler. It was very lackluster. But i blame the director for not pushing her ,moreso that her.

Katie was fine. Her being replaced hurt the sequel more than her performance would have.

Yeah it really hurt TDK $400m:whatever:

I don't think nobody missed Katie Holmes.

I agree that Maggie was better than Katie, but Katie certainly is better than a lot of actresses playing in hit films, and they never get teased on... My opinion is that some famous jock teased Katie, then soon it became popular to do so, then everyone started doing so. She had a few moments that were cringe-worthy, but she certainly isn't as bad as "a foot rest". Her being replaced was an aggravation I had with TDK. It hurt the film continuity-wise, but in the long run the acting was somewhat better. But still, scenes like the one with her and Harvey walking down the hallway annoyed me:

"He's a friend actually, try to be nice", her head bobbing up and down, her acting like a ****, then her zooming her head forward like a race car when she said "try to be nice" was overacting. Katie may underact, but Maggie overacted. It makes me think that the only reason people like Maggie better is because she has more curves, she has bigger, droopier breasts and she has punkier lips. Admit it people, your going mostly on looks instead of acting.

quality = sales rite

regardless, I meant artistically, not financially. i dont actually know anyone who personally liked gylenhaal more than holmes. this is an internet phenomena completely

and the guy above seemed to miss holmes, too... Although I have to disagree about looks; maggie is not a looker. she has smaller droopier breasts, and granny lips. plus her cheeks remind me of a basset hound. it made the scene where joker calls her beautiful laughable

Well I liked Maggie G. a lot more than Katie Holmes yet cos maggie is better actress than Katie. Maggie should've been BB and she would have done a better job.

That last bit comment just unfair but I guess we all have an opinions.

no, i hated the character AND the actress, and im glad she died in TDK, get of rid of both those cows, haha.

I actually liked both girls in the role. I don't get the hate. I think the Katie hatred stems from her being on "Dawson's Creek" which is thought to mostly be show loved by teenage chicks. I found nothing wrong with her acting.

I hate the line "ya you better run" When she totally forgets about the person she smacked with a purse behind her.

Her overexposed involvement with L. Ron Cruise certainly doesn't help.
