Rockstar Red Dead Redemption

I think it'd be best just to go with a whole new cast and setting. What would be awesome though is if somehow your character crosses paths with John and you get to ride out on one mission with him.
You mean like the DLC for GTA IV, where there were two unique extra stories that were both somehow tied with each other and the main story.
I want either a prequel while we're still part of the gang or an entire new cast. I just don't like John. At all.
You mean Jack? Because I loved John and the game just wasn't the same without him.

But I'd love a prequel that dealt with him joining the gang, doing missions with them up until the point where he gets out.
I'd also like to see "choice" meaning something in the game. Yeah, you could still be an "outlaw" in RDR... but it was rather pointless since, you know... it's John's redemption from that life and all that.

I would like to see if you chose to be an outlaw like character then that's what you are, I don't want to see your character being all nicey nice in the next cut scene.

Know what I mean?
Like Infamous? I think that'd be great, especially if they had more of a branching storyline, in which you can only play certain missions, or get certain things depending on what choices you make.

It felt empty. And I still had a bunch of stuff to do with Jack, and didn't even dislike him the way everyone else did, but it still wasn't the same. But I guess that was the point.

Oh, mix-up on my part. John was great. I really hated it when we were left with Jack and his stupid goatee.

So true. I still play it and do stuff, but John was a much better character. Jack seems lame

I guess it's because John had that whole family story behind him, and after investing so much time in that, you can't help but root for him. But Jack's story was simply revenge and it wasn't really much, so to continue playing as him, it doesn't feel the same because there is no really connection to the character.

I must say, though, that it was a pretty gutsy move on Rockstar's part to do that with John. I can think of many free roam games where the main character gets killed.

I thought it was good for one playthrough. After beating it, and getting revenge with Jack I had no intention on continuing from there. It really felt like a good "western conclusion".

My problem with Jack is just that he looked so much like Orlando Bloom and I don't buy Orlando as a rugged cowboy.

This game is so much fun. My only thing is that it makes me feel like I have a major case of ADD whenever I play it. I head off to the next mission and then some one needs my help. Ok, I'll get your horse back. Whoa was that a grizzly? He's going down. Got him, but his friend killed my horse :csad:. Ooh a new settlement. Let's check it out. Horse shoes you say? Why sure. 2 hours pass from when I started playing... What was I suppose to do? It's not a bad thing mind you. It shows the amount of effort that was put into it. Great stuff.

Personally, I actually didn't mind playing as Jack, but John will always be the best, IMO.

Not sure how well a prequel would work? The game was already pretty rural for a sandbox and it would lose even more towns in a prequel as the west was even less developed. There's only so much desert you can find your self roaming though.

If there is a continuation game made i don't see it coming out for this generation of consoles.

Haha i felt the same way. There was always something going on and i HAD to take a look.

Last night I put blinders on and completed 4 missions (I usually only get 1 or 2 a night for comparison), but man it was hard not going after that herd of buffalo. :csad:

I'm going to get the preorder DLC later tonight, but my question is if the warhorse is somehow killed off, can I summon him again?

Awesome that people still play this. I recently got the Undead Nightmare pack but haven't put RDR back in to try it. Is there still a big online community?

Id assume it would give you the deed to the horse, so yes.

I hated his voice so much. Maybe if he didn't sound like a pre teen *****e he wouldn't have been so bad, because at least you don't really have to see his dumb Orlando Bloom face and lame goatee. I want to put the damn game on mute when riding a horse. "Work ya damn nag". yuck.

This sounds like the how Solid Snake/Raiden controversy all over again. Btw, I haven't played that deep into RDR so I haven't tried this Jack character yet, but I doubt I'd like him half as much as I like John Marster.

Its Marston, with an N, not R.

But yea, Marston is a tough character to top. I loved him in Redemption. He had some great lines in both the standard and Nightmare campaigns.

I liked Jack, actually. I thought the epilogue (...or actual ending, I guess?) with him avenging his father was great.

I loved the epilogue, too, but Jack himself doesn't compare to John.

Okay, I downloaded both the Warhorse and the Deadly Assassin outfit DLC just now. The Warhorse deed is in my inventory, but when I tried to change my outfit to DA, it still shown as incomplete and wanted me to track the pieces. Is this some kind of glitch? How do I report this bug to Rockstar? I hope I didn't waste 80 MS on this DLC.

From a story-telling point of view, I liked it because it was bold and unique from any other game that I've played.

But from a gameplay point of view, wasn't it just going to a couple of locations, talking to someone and then dueling the guy responsible? It wasn't really much.

Dont you still have to find all the pieces to the outfit? Just like any other costume? You did with the other DLC outfits.
