the reason I liked peter when I was reading him all those years ago was he was relateable, he was an every man, one of us I think the movie will lose that if peter ends up being a hottie. seriously what would be the big deal about peter (who would be a hottie) landing a future supermodel in MJ? you'd EXPECT a hottie to land someone like that.

I really don't have a big problem with Zac Efron being the new Spider-Man, but I don't want to be because Disney is now involed with Marvel too. I know that sounds a bit off, but I don't want Sony to do it just to please the new bosses. If they want a young start that will attract kids to the movie they could use Drake Bell too. He already played a Spiderman type character in Superhero Movie. He also has that geeky looking quality to him that fits who Peter is.

But the best course they could take is to just find an unknown or little know actor around 17-18 years old. Hell they can even go as old as 21 as long as he has a young look to him.

I was thinking the same thing, but I don't think that this is the case. It sounds logical, but I'm not seeing it. Disney has zero control over Spider-Man, well at least for now, putting Zac Efron in Spider-Man doesn't line Disney's pockets with Spidey's money.

I don't find Efron good looking or pretty at all, he looks like a metro freakshow.

He would have been a gross choice for Spider-man; and from a marketing standpoint.. he has a very bad stigma thanks to HSM in the media. He's constantly the butt of endless jokes. It wouldn't go over well.

People just get used to watching all the 25-26 year old models that play 17 year olds on TV and in cinema and think that is the norm for most teenagers. It's not. I wouldn't have casted older than 20 because we are talking about a franchise and not a one off and done movie.

1.No he doesnt, he might not look like how a teen is usually portrayed on screen, but he sure as hell looks at least 16-17. Justin Bieber looks 12, LL doesnt. Sure he might look a little young, but he still looks like a teen. Plus, he can age a little in 2 years.
2.Again, how. I mean, I could understand if he came off as this big hot shot or if he looked like some person in Jersey Shore, but he doesnt.

I've seen fugly guys with ridiculously hot girlfriends. Looks aren't everything. Without any self-confidence, you're never gonna get any attention from the ladies. Period.

That Lerman kid(I like him for the role too) doesn't look like a loser/geek/nerd stereotype either. Let's face it, gone are the days when nerds and geeks look like Bill Gates. Hell, even Peter is drawn as a good looking guy in the comics.

Anyway, this is a big name Hollywood franchise. Don't expect anything less than a good looking male lead to play Peter.
