sandman and harry might now be secondary villains

WEll I readed the Q&A and never read that venom wouldn't be in the climax but the opposite, acording to the Q&A venom will be in the final battle and he will probably kill harry too.
If you count the battle royale as the climax, but supposedly the last thing to happen is the fight against the symbiote. According to the script summary not the Q&A.

i know Raimi has stated that sandman is the main villain, but like someone else stated before it sounds like there now pushing for Venom to be the main baddie, and well if Sony wanted him to be the main villain Raimi would have to do it right? anyway this is from IGN's top 10 comic book movies and is the reason i made this thread, i dont think many people actually noticed this while reading it.

There is one reason why every fanboy on earth cannot wait until May 4, 2007: Venom. Despite director Sam Raimi not initially being a fan of the character, Spidey fans will finally get to see the popular villain on the big-screen. Venom is being brought to life by actor Topher Grace, who plays Eddie Brock, a Daily Bugle employee and Peter Parker's (Tobey Maguire) doppelganger. The highly anticipated sequel also brings in another hugely popular character from the comics, Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard), as well as Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) and a vengeful Harry Osborn (James Franco) as secondary villains. The big question about Spider-Man 3 isn't how many box office records it will undoubtedly shatter but which character(s) get killed off. Judging by the intense but crowd-pleasing trailer, Spider-Man 3 will be the darkest and most dangerous entry yet in the blockbuster franchise
So, the director himself said Sandman was the main villain...you people do stay in denial, don't cha? :O

I think Sandman has the most screentime, but it doesn't mean he is the main villain. The main villain is Peter's dark side and by the end of the movie Venom embodies everything evil in Peter and what Peter could've been.

Though on screen less, Venom IS themeatically the main villain. Harry starts out a major threat and will (hopefully) be more of a psychological hinderance on Peter who barely survives the first scrape only to be derided by Harry publicly and able to do nothing until the symbiote allows him to go up to Harry and just go ape**** on him. Harry then will have to face his demons and return at the climax with the choice to be hero and villain....my guess hero and will die saving Pete from Venom. But then Venom will have his one-on-one with Spidey at last.

We'll see though.

damn man, i'm a Venom fan and even i know that Sandman is the main villain
and i still wouldn't change it for the world

Answer supplied and noted. Raimi obviously wants to make the 'Osborn Legacy' and Sandman an important part. Will that stop moviegoers from blocking out everything until Venom appears? Nope. :) But- jokes aside- does that mean that Venom should be in the film for more than 15 minutes? No. I trust Raimi and his ability to turn the time we see Venom into a magical experience. And no matter how much of a Venom fan I am I do not want to see this movie butchered by favoritism to any one of the three by the screenplay itself. Each one is promised to bring what they were in the comics to the big screen, and with Raimi I know that will be achieved.

what r u talking about denai? sure i made the thread, and my name is Venomfan, that doesnt mean im sitting hear hoping hes the main villain, i was just pointing out to ppl what was said in the IGN thing. i dont want venom as the main villain! i actually want him to appear at the end, and then be the main baddie for number 4, not this one. so good call on the denial

ditto..
i always say,
Venom Must Live!!!!

(ill never get tired of that smiley!)

As much as everyone's taking the Q&A as gospel (and with good reason...it's been spot on), I seriously question whether or not Venom/Brock will die at the end of this, given that a well-done Venom=$$$.

Not only that, but building up Brock's character over the two-plus hours this movie's gonna be will seem incredibly cheap if he gets the symbiote and bites it inside 10 minutes. It's stupid, lazy scripting, and I really question the logic of it.

I imagine more a huge fight between Spidey and Venom, Spidey being on his last legs, and Venom leaving him alive to suffer and worry when he might strike next.

yeah, that would be an awesome setup for 4

i hope the Q&A is wrong on that part!!!

i doubt Venom would just leave...
rather, Spidey would defeat Venom, but for whatever reason, he takes his eyes off him and when everyone looks, Venom is GONE!

4 could be an amazazing movie, if Venom lives.

Do people realize the main villain DOESN'T need the most screen time? If Eddie is building up to Venom through out the movie and the symbiote ties into Venom, then the climaz of the film is probably Peter ditching the suit and Venom is born. He could fight and die in 5 minutes and he was still the Main focus, villain wise. Now if your talking about screen time, Sandman is pretty obvious. I don't think anyone here is debating Sandman has less screen time than Venom. That would be as stupid as killing off Venom at the end of Spiderman 3, which, I may add, is 99.9% going to happen.

im not doubting that it will happen, it probably will.

but it SHOULDN'T.

Its basically like this..Act I-Peter vs Harry and Spidey vs Sandman..Act II-Symbiote Spidey vs Sandman and Harry..Act III- Spidey and Harry vs Sandman and Venom..But during those first 2 Acts we are going to be seeing a @sshole Brock..So basically they are all even IMO.

just so many questions... You gotta hand it to sony tho, They are doin a kick ass job keepin us guessin. And i'd say its working pretty well to building up the hype.

^Nice:up:

The main story should be about Peter's downward spiral due to the costume, also it should deal with Harry as well. Possibly, they could merge those stories together, with Harry seeing Spider-Man being more and more evil not just due to his madness, but due to Peter as well.

Sandman obviously should be used to show Peter Parker going the other way. He gets great power, but uses it to rob banks and stuff. This will be what teaches Peter that the symbiote is changing him, because he is now seeing a parallel with Sandman.

Venom should just be eye candy.

Hope that Venom/Brock live to fight and kill for another movie!

Hell Venom/Brock might could have there own movie like Wolverine?

While I think Sandman will be the main VILLAIN, I think there will be just as much focus on Brock (maybe a little less, but it'll be close). Most of the movie will probably be building him up until he finally does become Venom. Don't know if that really says what I was trying to say...
