Civil War Scarlett Johansson is back - The Official Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff Thread - Part 1

OMG, all this shipping thing. People see what they want to see. ScarJo already said, that there is no room for the romance in CW and that the main problem for Widow is Bucky. Her heart is with Cap, because they are close friends, but her mind with Tony, because Bucky is dangerous and unstable. And one more romance after Bruce is the last thing that Nat's character needs right now.

Nobody said anything about romance... I just want them interacting, thank you very much.

And that BruceNat situation was such a sick joke that I hope the CW writers knock it out with one line.

Actually it was a response to the post, that now got deleted, about tumbler shippers thinking that Nat is the mole because of BuckyNat.

But I totally agree on the BruceNat situation.

I disagree. I saw it as a welcome reprieve that Whedon put together the two characters everyone least expected to be an item as opposed to a more obvious pairing like Steve & Natasha would've been.

Nothing wrong with that, imho.

And some people don't mind Jar-Jar. Overall the reaction was less than appreciative is all I meant.

Oh man, I am so excited to see what they do with Nat in this movie. From moviefone:

9. They had no problem, however, revealing that Black Widow and Scarlet Witch share a scene together. In fact, their scene together opens the movie.

23. Of all the Avengers Evans' character shares screentime with, the actor revealed his favorite: Black Widow. Fans can expect their relationship in "Winter Soldier" to grow even as they initially find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict. "I've grown to really like my scenes with Scarlett," Evans said. "Something about that relationship, because I don't think it drifts into a romantic place. I think it's a place where we each just need somebody. She's kinda been a loner for a long time and probably avoided friendships for professional purposes. And I had no friends because I was frozen. And now it's like a really nice brother and sister bond. There's some nice scenes in this one."

17. Of all the characters appearing in this film -- and there are a lot -- Black Widow and Black Panther proved the most challenging (and interesting) for the directing duo.

"We made some strong choices with Natasha in this movie, and it's a tricky arc that she has to play in the film," Joe said.

9. Another dynamic the writers are playing with here is Black Widow's relationship with both Stark and Rogers. As seen in the Super Bowl spot, Black Widow is on Team Iron Man -- but it's not easy for her.

"It's difficult," according to Markus, "because she's not trained to take sides. She's trained to be a duplicitous double-agent and have loyalties for sale. Obviously, she's well on her way to not being that person, but it's still... standing up next to someone and taking a side and going 'No I believe in this' is counter to her nature. So it's in a way almost toughest for her than anybody to go, 'This is my side and I'm sticking to it.'"

I'm just really craving to see Widow vs. Cap. I don't care how brief. Just wanna see how that would go down.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought Bruce/Nat worked.

^^^ I've seen better fan art then that. Her right arm shoulder looks whacked. Sharon also looks whacked in her other promo art.

I like how the Russos and Evans keep mentioning that BW/Cap are more like siblings, bro/sis.

I didn't really mind their cringey forced scenes that much.

Russos are like "f*** the bechdel test, let's get that outta the way immediately"
lol

Yeah, but then they only talk about how great of a man Steve Rogers is. :oldrazz:

I kid. They will most likely pass the test. I just think it will be kewl to have the heroines talk to each other. I mean, we finally have two female Avengers. That's crazy!

Her explanation makes perfect sense. Bucky almost killed her. Twice. She saw the trail of bodies he left behind.

If she has reason to believe that he hasn't gotten back to his senses and is still the monster HYDRA made, there is literally no reason she'd side with him. Steve is emotionally compromised because he loves Bucky too much to be objective. Falcon flat out said this in the last movie.

Natasha? She doesn't have that problem. If she thinks Bucky is still a serious threat and cannot be redeemed, she'd have no problem putting him in the ground.

Thankfully Hawkeye did decide to do that with her, huh. Also did she just forget what happened the last time that they tried to give the government this much power, that didn't go very well. Oh and who was pulling Bucky's strings then. That's right, HYDRA moles working within the government. So I guess it's just "lets try again and HOPE that nothing goes wrong this time."

You'd think that she would remember that, given that she was there and it was only a few years ago.

So no, her explanation DOESN'T make sense imo. But then again these "hero vs. hero" events have always relied on heroes acting like OOC trigger-happy idiots, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Oh, so you have seen the movie? How is Zemo's accent? is Tom good as Spider-man? Who dies in the end :o

I've seen ALL of the previous movies that she's been in, including the last Cap movie. So yeah, I stand by my opinion, she should know better by now.

Anyone notice that Widow is next to Cap in the Spidey Scene from the trailer? I think she goes #team cap at the airport

She is conflicted. This is her worst nightmare. She sees the value to both sides. Her relationship with Cap is very deep and is a continuation of their story from Winter Soldier. But due to very personal reasons they wind up on opposite sides. She & Bucky definitely have an encounter. :)

From the Q&A.

I think she was a double agent from the get-go.

I recall that when the teams were revealed, it was mentioned that there was a double agent in one of the factions ...

yeah now I remember ...
someone related to the movie (can't remember who) even challenged the fans to guess who it was

Do people really think they'd spoil that in the trailer?

1) The scene of him telling Nat to watch her back is probably from early on in the movie before things escalate.

2) She's behind Cap but that could just as easily mean Tony, Rhodey, and Natasha are trying to box him in or surround him. Spider-Man certainly didn't try to attack her.

I wanna guess it could be post the airport fight but the fact that Tony's arm is in a sling makes it seem like it could be the end of the movie...Although it'd be weird if the film ended with things sour between him and Nat and she's warning him to watch his back.
