then they show cyclops showing up in the last battle, the phoenix going crazy with power, killing many people, Scott walks into frame....

Jean "you think you have the power to stop me!"

Scott "I don't, but Jean does, listen to me Jean, overpower the phoenix, make it like it was, come back to me, please Jean"

the phoenix then depowers, the darkness in her eyes fades away, scott runs up and catches her as she falls from the sky

scott "I got you jean, and............. I'm never going to let you go, I love you so much"

Logan "scott!!! Get away from her now, we must end this before she destroys everything"

scott "no!!! you are not going to touch her, I won't let you"
scott stands up, laying Jean on the ground, raises his hands to his visor, he blasts a warning shot from his eyes a few feet infront of where logan stands

Scott "I will kill you logan, just turn around and walk away, she is better now"

Jean "no scott, I am not, I can't controll the phoenix forever, she is too strong, and without the proffessor............ there's no way scott"

Scott "don't say that Jean, you can fight it, you can controll it............. please, don't do this to me again, I love you"

Jean "I love you too...... but it has to be this way"

logan "see Scott, she can't controll it, kill her before the phoenix comes back"

scott "I can't, I won't"

Logan "you must, it's the only way"

Jean then starts to turn back into the phoenix, her eyes get darker, and flames start to form around her

scott "JEANNNNNN!!!! you must fight it"

Jeans face then returns to normal "I can't fight it anymore, I have to stop the phoenix before it destroys everything I love"

Scott "please jean, don't do this"

jean "I must scott, for the safety of everyone on the planet, and most importantly, for us................. I will always love you...... goodbye"

the fire of then phoenix covers jean, ingulfing her entire body, her body then dissapears..... no body, no ashes, the dust clears, a small gold object falls from the sky and lands infront of cyclops, it is Jeans necklace, a gold phoenix pendent

Scott picks it up from the ground, clutches it in his hand, and hold it closely to his chest while on his knees, camera pans back to show a riped apart alcatraz island, the remander of the x-men stand in back..........

The thing I didn't like about it was it came down to power more than love. Sure love was a factor and it's pretty obvious the Jean/Phoenix could have obliterated Wolvie if she had really wanted to. Well okay, it's not totally clear, thats the problem. I wish the Scott and Logan had done it because it shwed that love and will was more powerfull than any class five mutant.

Also, didn't Mystique get stabbed in the exact same way and still live. I guess one must have thicker skin.

I liked it, as-is. The comic was great, but that was twenty freaking years ago. I read it back then. I liked it back then. This group of X-Men are not on Earth 616. They're somewhere else and things worked out differently.

Cyclops was a dud in the movies. Wolvie was always the heart of the movies, and that's something that was set up by Singer, not Ratner.

As for Logan healing at the end--- Someone else on these boards mentioned that it appears his healing is connected to his adrenaline. When he's calm or unconscious, he heals slower. When his adrenaline is pumping, he heals faster. The movies seem to bear this out.

I find it ironic that there are those who refuse to accept the evolution of the story in the movieverse even if it makes more sense in its context(especially as X-Men is all about evolution and mutation). No one forces you to like the change, but just as the X-men are a product of evolution, so is a story from one medium to another. I love the Dark Phoenix Saga but realised that within the confines of the movie things would change. Think about it, with the realistic tone of the film's it is safe to say that Jean/Phoenix is really dead now so how could Scott live (if you believe he is dead) without the love of his life. Its not like the films would introduce a Madelyne Pryor (Jean clone) or bring Jean back AGAIN. Scott would have to have been in a lot more scenes to build up the tension if he put in the final showdown with Phoenix which to a general audience probably would seem wasteful. I don't like the change, but I understand it, besides ultimately the blame lies with Singer who has marginalised Cyclops from the beginning. The love triangle was overplayed, even though it can be found in the comic's (especially Wolvie's feelings for Jean) with Logan being the more appealing character, like Han Solo to Luke Skywalker.

LOL... So what level of calm do you have to be on to heal yourself at a micro nanosecond rate? What kind of Zen state is that? There are budhist and Chi masters around the world boggling at a peaceful state that immense.

I don't think whether you liked it or not is the topic. The topic is that Jean and Scott relationship wouldn't work on screen in the context of the story i.e. Scott has to kill Jean (like Logan) or she sacrifice herself or both of them at the end of the movie.

I'm saying it would work because that was the heart and cornestone of the Phoneix saga.

And don't ge me wrong, I love X3, gave it a GREAT review. But to say Scott and Jean relationship won't work on screen is ridiculous.

They did, but that's not the point. The point is Phoenix coulda killed Logan instantly, something even his healing factor wouldn't be able to save him from.

Oh, and nobody's asking for Scott to take centre-stage. Logan makes more money, he should get the bigger role. But there are better ways to handle a Phoenix story with Logan in it than spitting on Scott's character like that. Couple it with all the lies the producers of X3 said about Cyke "getting a bigger role" and "kicking butt" then it just becomes outright disrespectful, to the fans and to Scott.

That's not what he said there. He heals slower when he is calm or when he is taken by surprise (bullet in the head) and faster when the adrenaline is pumping.

here's the awakening scene I invisioned for Scott in X3

Cyclops awakens from coma
Storm, and Logan are standing around his bed
Scott “where am I?”

Storm “your back at the mansion Scott, how are you feeling?”

Scott cracks his neck “how did I get here?”

Logan “we found you lying next to Jean at Alkali Lake, we brought you back here”

Scott sits up, swinging his legs to the side of the bed, he looks around trying to find Jean
“Where is she, where is Jean?”

Logan “she’s gone, she escaped a few days ago”

Scott slowly stands up, looking confused
“What do you mean escaped?”

Storm “The woman you found at Alkali lake is not the Jean we all love, and remember, she…… she’s something else”

Scott grabs storms by the shoulders “WHAT DO YOU MEAN SOMETHING ELSE!!!! WHERE IS SHE, TELL ME NOW!”

Storm looks over at Logan, and then looks back on Scott “Jean is alive, but she is different, she is calling herself the Phoenix now, Scott?? What happened back at Alkali Lake?”

A flashback to Alkali Lake, Scott and Jean sharing a kiss, then all a sudden Jean starts to shake and a blast of power erupts from her knocking both of them unconscious.

Scott then looks down at the floor “I really don’t remember, jean appeared in front of me, we kissed and……….. And then I woke up here, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? Logan!!! Where is Jean, tell me what is going on, tell me now!”

Logan “Jean awoke while you were still out, but it wasn’t her, you could tell by the look in her eyes, she grabbed me and threw me into the wall like I was nothing more then a rag doll, she blew open the door and escaped. Me, Storm and Xavier caught up with her back at her parent’s home……. And then……”
Logan looks blankly at the ground, unable to describe Xavier’s death.

Scott “what happened, speaking of Charles, where he is?”

A few tears fall down Storm’s face

Logan starts to breathe harder

Scott “where’s the Professor? Logan?
Scott looks over at Strom, she’s shaking her head, Scott takes a step back, he looks stunned, and he then understands that Xavier is no longer alive
“My god!” Scott says in a desperate voice, “how?”

Logan barely being able to talk, says, “Jean, I mean, it was the Phoenix……. She killed the professor”

Scott “No, No, there’s no way, Jean loved the Professor, he was a father to her, there’s no way she would kill him”

Storm “It wasn’t Jean that killed him, Scott, it was the Phoenix”

Scott “Stop it with this Phoenix bull****, where is Jean, I have to see here”

Logan “she’s with Magneto”

Scott “what? You don’t mean……”

Logan “she’s part of his “Brotherhood” now, I found them in the woods last night, I tried talking to Jean, but she wasn’t interested, she’s with them now, and we have to stop them, they are ready to start their war”

Scott “Don’t say that, there’s no way she would join with Magneto, there’s no way!”

Storm “come with us Scott, we need your help; we won’t be able to stop her without you”

Scott “what do you mean “stop her?””

Logan “there’s no other way, that is not her out there, the Jean you loved is dead, she died back at Alkali lake, we have to take her down before she kills every living thing on this earth”

Scott “no…….. I won’t let you, I love her, I will not let you take her from me again!”

Storm “Scott………..”

Logan “Listen Bub, I know how you feel”

Scott “you have no idea how I feel Logan, you have known her for what? Two weeks, I’ve known this woman since I’ve been 13 years old, and I will not stand by and let you kill her”

Storm “there’s no other way”

Logan “If your not with us, don’t get in our way, got that!”

Scott “you got it wrong Logan, don’t you get in my way”
Scott leaves the room, leaving Storm and Logan standing there looking at each other

Not trying to sound snobby, but all the "Scott wouldn't have worked" don't make sense because they can easily tweak the scenes to their favour.
