The Amazing Spider-Man Script getting a rewrite

lol, So they're bringing back WRITERS from the original series now?

What's next?

"Uh...we needed help directing so we got Sam Raimi back to help..."

This is a ******ed choice in my opinion. Boot that old guy.. Over 80 years old? Really? Bring someone in that knows something about the comics and where the character came from. Look at the success of Marvel's new movies.

I'm trying to give this movie a chance.. but if Sony makes Peter Parker wet himself in everyother scene again .. I'm gonna go nuts. :/

Stranger things have happened...

(Anyone remember how Richard Donner was called in to "offer advice" on Wolverine?)

According to these responses, Sony is making some really bad choices. But I say lets give the movie a chance. Hopefully this reboot is good.:cwink:

He said he took a lot of the dialogue from the comics. But I agree there are other writers out there who would do well rewriting Spider-man. I suspect he is hired out of convinience, after all he is married to the producer. He does it as a favor more than anything.
Alvin Sargent is also apart of the reason why the Spider-Man films are mediocre (along with Raimi/Arad/Ziskin), which are riddled with horrible dialogue, poor characterizations and weak story structure. It's common-sense that you don't bring back those who couldn't get it right the first time.

Just because you're bangin' the producer, doesn't mean he should be hired to do something that he's horrible at, in his case, writing/polishing the Spider-Man script.

When I read the whole more emotional part of the article I just let out a big SIGH.

I was hoping for a less whiney/crying Parker.

I think my picture accurately reflects the caliber of what will happen to the script

I was trying to stay positive about the reboot, but this does seem like a bad idea.

I thought they wanted fresh blood for this Reboot?
Hopefully this doesn´t mean that we will get another Script that feels like it was written by a five Years old.

F you Sony, you suck. Morons. Get Chris Nolan.

God, is that the only guy who can do reboots for you? Nolan will likely remain at Warner Brothers for his benefit, where among other things they treat him right. Nolan is not the kind of person Amy Pascal and Michael Lynton (or Tom Rothman) can push around, and furthermore I doubt Nolan is a fan of the character.

F you Sony, you suck. Morons. Get JJ Abrams or Martin Campbell. :word:

So far everything i've read about the reboot doesn't seem too promising...more emotional and "realistic" Centering around a shifting hormonal peter parker? Let me guess...Peter will be now the emo kid sitting in the back that wears all black.

IF the reboot isn't that good, then I'll be glad Logan Lerman didn't get the role :D

I'm just saying this- Sargent wasn't able to polish either Spidey 3 or 4 into good scripts, so what's he going to do here?

the SM3 script was doomed the second venom was shoehorned in, the previous script was too far down the line. the original script with sandman, vulture and gg2 should have been completely binned and they should have started from scratch rather than try to patch in a completely different character with a ridiclously complex origin. you can't blame sergent for that.

Written by a five year old? Yes, because five year old can spell and write properly.

Sure I can. Venom's origin isn't complex at all. It's actually overly simple. Eddie hates Peter. Symbiote hates Peter. They bond and try to kill Peter.

Only people who think Venom is a great character care about dragging his story out, with scenes of him stalking Peter and crap.

And since no one has read the Vulture/Sandman script, no one knows it's quality level. The reason for doctoring the script wasn't because it was bad. It was because it didn't have Venom.

Venom wasn't the problem with Spidey 3. The plot points as written could have worked. It wa the structure of the scenes. It was hthat Sandman was relegated to being a special effect. Peter and MJ were porly written. The dialgoue was garbage. Harry's character arc was mish-mash. He's evil. Then he's not evil. Then he is evil. Then he's not evil. And for no plausible reason. Marko killing Ben was just something for Spidey to be really mad about.

All of these things should have been fixed by a good script doctor. Sure, having to work under Arad and apparently his wfe must've been a problem as well, but There's little to suggest that Sargent is a good addition to the equation. I think the script has been the problem in EVERY Spidey film.

I cant fault Spider-Man 1 and 2. The reason why 3 was weak because they had by then run out of ideas, and they were all pretty certain it was the end (especially when Dunst accidentally revealed it was the last).

I feel for this reason, they didnt put too much consideration into the movie. It was basically nearly all throughout "Hey guys, since this will be our last, lets just **** about and have fun". That was clearly shown.

You could predict what 4 wouldve been like.

Peter narrating about how life is getting better.
Peter befriending Adrian Toomes and his daughter.
He turns evil becoming Vulture, dies early on,resulting in Felicia Toomes (whatever) becoming Vulturess to avenge daddy's death.
MJ kidnapped,Vulturess sacrifices herself and saves everybody. THE END.

Side plot. MJ continuing with her career. JJ giving up the Bugle, following his humorous exploits in retirement (Sitcom style),then getting the place back.....
