Gotham?

We're not trying to imitate Rocky Balboa and Rambo by naming the film after one of its title characters. :whatever:

That made no sense. And I don't know what "we're" trying to do, but my suggestion was for the film makers. And I think my suggestion is reasonable. Thanks but try again.

Although, "Gotham" is a cool name for a movie, the movie isn't about gotham, it's about Batman. This would be like calling the next Superman movie "Metropolis" (aww s**t, i think i just started something)

If you read my post you'd understand why I suggested the title. And to be honest, Batman does not exist in a vacuum (e.g. "Alfred what have I done?"), which is why I thought my suggestion was worthy of putting out there.

I was only adding my own opinion, not shooting yours down. That's why i didn't link as a response. I also said it was a good name beforehand.

It´s kinda weird how people can decide they like a movie title or not without having the slightest idea what the story is. Well, if the title´s not true, it´s a moot point anyway.

Thats a damn good point. None of us really don't know what the movie going to be about to effectively name it at this point.

Guys, I've been thinking about something...

If in fact SHADOW OF THE BAT is the working title, than perhaps it means something. Just like the Nolans have stated that the title The Dark Knight has significance, so I think we can assume that SOTB has something to do with the story. This leads me to believe one thing...Dick Grayson.

Yes, I know that Nolan has stated that Robin will never be used, but wat if he changed his mind? I can see him being introduced like he was in Dark Victory. It CAN work.

The Shadow of the Bat. Perfect title for the introduction of someone in the Batman's shadow.

probably it's better evidence that it will NEVAH be the title

However, it could also be a reference to how Gotham itself is now forever in the shadow of the bat. All criminals, the mobs, the freaks, they all define themselves and work constantly under Batman's shadow.

good point, that would interesting. I'd like the title alot more if that were the case (doubtful though.... *waits for someone to point out "Robin will never appear foolz!"* )

Right now SOTB just seems kinda B-grade.

'Gotham City'.......at this point the trilogy's about MORE than Batman now, that's precisely the point. Look at the impact in his city, his allies, enemies, the people.

It also suggests a permanence or future beyond the timescale of the trilogy.

Gotham City is crap. Sounds like a drama of the lives of everyday people living in a big city.

Shadow of the Bat gives off a great vibe.

Gotham City is horrible.

that's impossible. not when you know it's a Batman movie and you see trailers with Two-Face and Joker ripping the city apart. It sounds BIG. Like the place is a circus.

Shadow of the Bat gives off a great vibe.

Attack of the Clones. The Last Crusade. Dead Mans Chest. Shadow of the Bat. These are pulp titles that (when used correctly) celebrate b-grade serials and thrillers of the past with a modern sense of irony. Some trilogies can make it work. For Nolans Batman it's a retrograde.

yeah, shadow of the bat would be a good name for orson welles' batman

I still haven't heard anything better than SOTB yet.

So to me, no one has made a good argument.

Gotham City is too far off base. The title has to be about Batman. Sure GC is his city. But if we went on things that Batman has an affliction for we could call BB4 "Wayne Manor". I'd rather the title say something about the character rather than a place.

I agree

Gotham though, now that I think about it, would be a great title for an anime treatment of the series (maybe a new one between TDK and SOTB?). It could be stories not about Batman but of the various characters that inhabit the city and how they are affected.

Just mix with Arkham asylum (my second choice for a title) and it should do the trick.
only if it has the part in my avi and you've got a deal, even though the movie would go through a "mood swing" with such a drastic change of theme.

Deal. Your avi rocks.

'Wayne Manor'.....c'mon dude that's just stretching it. Not very applicable I think.

Gotham City suggests a wider story with broader impact. I know why you like SOTB, for commenting on the legacy Batman leaves behind right? to me GC says the same thing in a stronger way and more enigmatic way. and the tone just fits better. Once you've dropped 'bat' from the title best to leave it out and find other titles that are synonymous with Batman.
