He should go since he doesn't like or get modern-day villains like Venom and Carnage.
Or, he should stay for the same reason.

Please explain/expand on that idea so that this thread may endure.Or, he should stay for the same reason.
That's the million dollar question in the midst of all the box office returns, critical evaluations and general fan dispute: should Sam Raimi direct the alleged Spider-Man 4, 5 and 6 that Marvel and Sony want, or is it time for Raimi to move on and let a new person take charge of the franchise?
I've been hearing this since SM1. Oh no, being that I and some didn't like it, all that comes after it will fall. A silly way of thinking. I love it when people make asinine excuses, as to why SM3 is making a hell of lot of money, for SM1 it was 9/11.I don't think they'd get so lucky (financially) after the relative calamity that was Spidey 3 Its only making so much money because its the most anticipated flick since Episode 1. I think people are going to be a lot more cautious of Spidey 4, regardless of who is involved.
Sad to say, but "This could be the end...of Spider-man"('s movie franchise).

You're obviously new to the Hype! So I'll let you in on a little secret, people always b:tch about a Spider-Man movie, it never pleases most people. People ripped apart SM1/SM2 frame by frame (check the archives). They whipped out their mighty comic books, and went to town on how much they hate Raimi's decisions and how the movies should be like this and that--they did some crying and pouting. Then they made SM3 the biggest grossing Spider-Man film of the series worldwide. Oh, the biggest of the series and steadily GROWING BIGGER, go figure.Don't get me wrong, I love the movie. I've seen it three times. Spider-man 3 is in no way a bad movie, it's simply not up to snuff with the first two. I believe I speak for a lot of people when I say that the final product did not fulfill on what was hyped (as big films like this rarely do). The story and tone of the movie were so different than what's come before, and not in a good way. All I'm saying is, a lot of those people won't get sucked in by the hype again. These movies cost A LOT of money to make and if Sony doesn't recoup enough back, Spidey's movie career is over. This isn't something that's going to happen soon, they may get 3 more movies out before they shut it down; but if the flicks keep straying so badly off the path, we will not be watching new Spider-man movies in 10 years.
You may be satisfied with mediocre Spider-man movies but some of us expect better. Sue us.I think SM3 is generally well liked in mixed reviews by the general public. While fanboys will whine I think the immediate shock of the general public (whose complaints seemed less on the structural pacing poblems and underdeveloped or rather not enough screentime use of Sandman and Eddie Brock. They were more along the lines of "EMO PARKER'S DANCING?!?! Why is Venom only in it at the end?!?!") has died down and it is doing very well showing a gneeral affection by the public.
I personally find it is a movie that gets better with repeat viewing and will be accepted well on DVD. If ROTS is liked by the masses as part of Star Wars this can be conisdered part of Spidey (much better movie).
When sM4 rolls around, same cast and director or not people will see it. I think some may be more cautious and wait for reviews but I think it will be a drop comparable to AWE making less than DMC (rightfully so) and SM2 making less than SM1 (not so rightfully).
But SM3 will not kil lthe franchise. Iti s generally considered a good movie and something this large will not crash and tank on the next outing unless iti s a Schumaucher debacle of changing direction.
