Should they make another Punisher movie? - Part 1

Because they are the Coen Brothers, and don't need to make movies because a genre is popular.

Well not because they are a popular genre. I mean the Punisher fits the style of there films, so I thought they be a good fit for Punisher films. Reason why I said comic book films are more popular now is cause directors and actors do not have to feel shame to be apart of a comic book film now since they have evolved.

I just want a director who will look at The Punisher as a crime film and not a superhero film.

I found the original PWZ script that Hensleigh wrote if you want me to email it to you.

Can I please get the script. Does anyone have Kurt Sutter's script. Kurt Sutter, allegedly, got boned by the studio but I would LOVE for him to get involved in writing and directing. He wrote the SHIELD and he writes and directs for my favorite TV show on right now: Sons of Anarchy

I thought both TJ's and RS's performances were really good in and of themselves. Either of them I would love to see in a new film

Why can't it be both? Thats what TDK was, both a crime drama and superhero film.

The Nolan Bat films are superhero films that feel like they are kind of embarrassed to be superhero films.

And Punisher is different than Batman. Batman has capes and gadgets. Frank doesnt

EDIT: I mean the Batman character has a lot more superhero elements than Frank does

Still Frank Castle/The Punisher is a comic book character so it should also be a comic book film aswell as a crime drama. The guy who directed Drive would also be a good fit for a Punisher film.

there's a difference between a comic book movie and a superhero movie

^ My bad, but I feel Punisher films should be both comic book flick and crime drama. Nothing wrong with it being both.

Who would your dream cast for a Punisher film be?

I know we've got decisions concerning Ray or Tom, but what about others? The Welcome back frank pals, his wife, jigsaw, bush wacker etc?

I'd call the next film "Frank Castle: Punisher"

Frank Castle/Punisher=Jon Hamm

Linus Lieberman/Microchip = Patton Oswalt

not sure who else I'd cast but I'd make Ma Gnucci the villain.

I would call it Punisher: MAX. And I like the idea of Jon Hamm as Frank Castle/The Punisher with Micheal Mann directing. Story would be Frank going after the mob who killed his family. I also use the film to set up Jigsaw as a villian for the sequel.

I thought of using Punisher: MAX but saying it aloud I think it sounds kinda hokey for a live action film

I do agree about Jigsaw.

This always makes me laugh, Hamm will always be a long shot for any comic book movie. And Mann would flat out never do a Punisher movie.

Punisher: MAX is a horrible movie title. What would it even mean?

I'd rather no Micro for a new film anyway. I thought Newman was great as Micro but he was dealt a ****** script for the most part, much like everyone else in the movie.

At this point, I almost have zero hopes that Hollywood will ever get a Punisher movie truly "right." It's seriously not a difficult story to adapt nor is it a difficult character, but they just seem to have no clue. The thankfully failed TV series is just further proof that they seriously have no grasp of the character whatsoever.

Punisher:Max as in to the limit, like Frank Castle has been pushed to the limit. I dono thought it sounded cool jeez.

I was thinking of running with the idea that a poster in here said, tying Ma Gnucci to the Slavers. I'd consider doing the Batman thing where each movie has a different title, but tie it to Punisher. I.e. "The Slavers" Punisher logo prominently featured. Maybe not for the whole series (oh to dream :) ), but maybe the first two so that people from the GA, don't associate it immediately with the last film. I dunno if that makes sense (considering, they'll remember the logo, I'm feeling a little stylistically snobby or something. :/ lol

Anyways, I'd love to see Ma Gnucci in a film. Who would you guys cast as her, Bushwacker, or other rogues?

Also, Patton would be an interesting choice, hmm.

I'm sure they could come up with a crafty subtitle. Otherwise, I wouldn't even mind "Frank Castle: The Punisher" like it was for a while in MAX and kinda like they did with the Tomb Raider movies by calling them "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider."

Simple, yet effective.

I'd like Micro because it gives Frank someone to play off of after he becomes The Punisher

I think under Marvel Studios they could get it right, however MArvel is so busy with other projects and I dont see Punisher getting any big screen love soon
The only way I see Punisher coming on the big screen soon is if Marvel Studios makes a subsidiary dealing with the darker, R rated characters like Punisher, Blade, and other R rated properties. I think thats what they tried to do with the whole "Marvel Knights" thing

yeah probably not as I said theyre tied up in other things

So if marvel did the marvel knights thing would you have all them exist in the same universe?
