Who said the Lizard will be throughout SM3? He shows up at the very, very end of the movie, you know, like a cliffhanger. Same as when Harry found the Goblin's lair.

You see Dr. Connors working on his experiment throughout SM3.

You hear and partially see the transformation of Dr. Connors into the Lizard, just as Peter thinks all is well now.

No way is there going to be a big cliffhanger introducing a new villain at the end of SM3 when there's no guarantee that the director or any of the same actors would be returning for a hypothetical SM4.

to be fair, just because nobody has said if SM4 will happen with the same cast or director does not mean they have not talked about it
every time a movie comes out in a franchise rumours fly that "this is the last movie" or "this is by far the best of the series" or "the cast will change if there is another".
a lot of that is done to hype up the current movie...cuz if it's the best one and the last one, everyon should see it
then down the road after it blows away some record they say "hmm, yeah we can justify having another one now but just for the fans...the next one will be made with the fans in mind to thank them for this success" when they were planning it all along...and the cycle begins anew

A cliffhanger would be cool, BUT think about the [bad] impact it would have on story-telling potential for Spidey 4. I think Connors/Lizard could be an interesting villian, probably the main villian for a future film.

If he is a main villian, this means though that the film he's the villian in should really be able to tell his story. By having his origin be a cliffhanger, your taking out all exposition of his character for a future film- look at the 90's (and 89') Batman films, and apart from film quality, you see Joker, Penguin, and Catwoman fleshed out a hell of a lot more and portrayed a whole lot better because their stories are told. Throwing him in just to show his origin last minute in Spidey 3 would ruin the audience connection with the character for a 4th film. With all the characters in Spidey 3, I don't think Connors would get the development he deserves for a main villian, so I wouldn't even touch that yet.

It would be awesome if there was a cliffhanger for Lizard at the end but since Sam Raimi said they weren't really planning for a spider-man 4 its unlikely. Atleast we'll get lizard references in Conner's office. :)

^There will be more Spider-Man movies...Raimi or not! Although I certainly hope he stays. We kind of got a cliffhanger at the end of SM2...why not SM3???

here's the thing: not every stand-alone superhero movie HAS to be an origin story for the villain involved...just because most movies have been done that way in the past doesn't mean the pattern can't or shouldn't be broken
they have been telling harry's "villain origin" story since sm1 with his dad getting killed and then in sm2 with him finding the goblin equipment. if they want to make him into a bad guy, they don't need to re-tell everything up to the point of him jumping on the glider
similarly with connors, he has been mentioned in sm1, showed up with no arm in sm2 and as long as he gets some screen time in sm3 working on the symbiote or something like that, we have an opportunity to learn more about him and his research in addition to his relationship with peter getting even more established
hence, the end of sm3 could show connors regrowing his arm but finding it turning scaly or something like that and when sm4 comes around, we already have a character we know and care about and the story is his descent into evil and the things that drive him crazy trying to stay normal
i do think that they'd be smart to add a character like kraven to sm4 along with lizard...to add another actual bad guy who isn't a scientist...he's hunting the lizard in new york for some reason and spider-man gets in his way, trying to protect dr. connors while keeping him under control - so we end up with kraven needing to get spider-man out of his way in addition to the lizard wreaking havok...you can still have SOME origin of the lizard while introducing kraven (hired by JJJ to catch the lizard or something) and having lots for spidey and peter to deal with
of course kraven can smell that peter parker and spider-man are the same person, that's always cool...maybe lizard does something to protect peter's identity even while he's trying to launch some crazy scheme against people in the city
anyway...that's all for now

That's along the lines of what I'm saying- I want to make sure he's a character people care about. I'm just afraid that he won't get any development in SM3 because of all the characters.

Hypothetical?

Are we still all under the impression that SM4 is only a theory?

could somebody please post links to spiderman cartoon videos on youtube that contain Lizard?

The Alien costume part 2 being the best :)

I already care for the character and he's had less than 2 minutes of screen time in SM2. If Connors has scenes with him studying the symbiote or/and in college--where I think Peter/Gwen meet, that automatically gives him a bigger role. The development can fully begin in SM4 with THE LIZARD as the main villain. It'll work and work well, they have a really good actor for the role.

I hope Connors has a bigger role and studies the symbiote.

Cool cover, but what a cop-out on the Lizard pic -- looks like the artist just photoshopped a Jurrasic Park 'raptor.
I see what you mean

Here’s a hint at what you might expect from Spider-Man 4, as per my exclusive interview with Avi Arad, the outgoing Marvel Studios president who is still quite involved on the creative side – the Lizard. Avi tells me it’s his favorite villain, and God knows the character is set up enough… especially after the events of 3, apparently. I swear this interview is coming soon.
