Excellent. Zodiac was one of the best films of the year, so I have no reservations about this decision.

EDIT - And apparently, he's writing the Wolverine spin-off too. Nice to know he isn't a stranger to Marvel.

Everyone is forgetting that he won't start the script until early next year. He's very busy writing Wolverine at the moment. But regardless, I'm very excited to hear that he's been chosen to write the fourth installment. "Zodiac" was bloody brilliant.

Not entirely true. They were shooting sequences and material for both SM2 and SM3 without a completed script. With an effects film like this, if they have a general outline of the film and a few sequences already mapped out (like the train sequence was), they could begin preliminary shooting to get ahead of schedule.

I trust that the studio has a better idea of how long it'll take to make this thing than we do... though 2009 does seem a trifle early considering they just hired a writer, and the film is without a director or a cast.

Still, I don't think they slapped on "2009" for no reason.
