Sequels Spider-Man 5 & 6

I seriously had no idea they were even thinking about doing more Spider-Man films.

Hopefully, the team sticks around. It's way too soon for a reboot.

I don't see raimi coming back for 5 and 6 and I Hope to god that Sony considers a Reboot.

So much for all the naysayers knocking the idea of rebooting the franchise. We know it has to happen eventually. Hopefully X-Men will follow.

They only way I see them NOT rebooting the franchise: 1) they either get the cast back (obviously)... 2) they go with Ben Reily and the Clone saga. Going with an older Parker from the beginning is a possibility I guess (like Batman 3-4), but why recast then when they could have recasted in SM4 itself, dramatically reducing their production budget? That's why I don't think they will recast and continue the current series. They would have already replaced everyone by now.

I'm eager to read Vanderbilt's scripts. The first thing that came to my mind was that, since the script covered two movies and Raimi didn't seem to like it, AND it seemed to fit as an ending to the trilogy and franchise, Venom would return and be a main part of the trilogy with maybe Carnage appearing too. However, since Venom will have his own spin-off it's very unlikely.

Maybe it features the return of Green Goblin? Maybe Vanderbilt tried to further develope Gwen Stacy and make Peter and Gwen a couple (maybe MJ gets an offer somewhere else that she can't resist and moves out of town?). Then, the finale is the Death Of Gwen Stacy storyline? That storyline could also work for a reboot, since they maybe would be more true to the comics and have Peter in love with Gwen Stacy in the first trilogy instead.

Though, that could be quite unlikely too since I think they want to end the franchise with a happy ending. Maybe Vanderbilt wanted to build up for the Sinister Six? Though, as Raimi has said that he would love to make a movie with the Sinister Six it would come off as a bit strange if he didn't take this opportunity to.

So what do you guys think?

My guess would be Vanderbilt was going for a symbiote return in part 5. I don't think he was planning to set up a Sinister Six. Wouldn't be suprised if that were the case though. I think what will happen is that Sony will leave an open ended ending in SM4. Pete/MJ won't end up together in the end. That way they can automatically jump in to new love interests and relationships in 5/6. I think most of the villains will be completely rebooted as well. What I don't forsee is Peter back to high school as a teenager.

this is good news. i have a feeling sm4 will be great

It's too soon really to form an inform opinion; however, my initial fear is that this may create an atmosphere for in-fighting between Sam & Co. and the future creative team. Sam signing that deal with WoW, maybe a sign that SM4 is Sam & Co. last. Good riddance if true.

Spider-Man 4 will be a great film. SM5 & 6 are so far off that it's not even worth talking about. I think it's smart to have a contingency for a reboot since none of the talent is signed past SM4. Sam and Company may want to go out on top after SM4 lights it up. (Think John Elway retiring after winning the Super Bowl)

i'm so happy to hear this! personally, i had always hoped they would make 6, but only if its the same cast members. the only thing is they need to start moving these characters forward more cuz the actors are getting older and, really, the stories should just be getting more mature from here out. if part 5 and 6 are interconnected storylines then i sure hope they are going the sinister 6 route with what villains are left that haven't been used. parts 1-3 were interconnected with harry, but i think it will be a part 1 part 2 kind of deal with a big cliffhanger between them

even if arimi doesn't return for 5 and 6, i'd be sad cuz it'd be awesome to see him do all of them, but if he cant' and they kind a great replacement for the last 2 parter AND have tobey and kirsten, then i'm all for it. the last thing i want to here is that they are recasting, that'd be so horrible! if raimi produced or was involved somehow other than directing then i could see them returning no problem, thats my only concern

If everyone decides to come back after the fourth, they should just shoot the fifth and sixth back to back. Just to get it over with because as mentioned the actors are getting too old, even though Tobey looks younger than he is, but I don't think that'll matter to some people.

Well, Sony is commissioning Vanderbilt to write two sequels. So if Raimi and the two main leads don't return, it'll still be two sequels with new talent in front of and behind the lens.

Exactly, that is what they will be.

Actually, yes from what I have heard that is what it involves, and Carnage too I think. Hence why Sam didn't/doesn't like it. The studio wants to build a lot of hype and do the villains most fans want to see. I don't know if the villains were/are just Venom and Carnage but that's what it included/includes.

Wow, this is great news! But Raimi announce some official news on Spiderman 4 progress, this hype is killing me! I want some casting announcements already!!!!!

I hope Maguire leaves after spiderman 4 and they bring in Joseph Gordon levitt or Jake Gyllenhaal to play Spiderman/Peter Parker. Also, I want Elisha Cuthbert for Black Cat and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as MJ for the next trilogy, even though Kirsten and Elisha are the same age, both born in the year 1982.

If that's true, I'm happy of Raimi's decision. I hate the symbiotes. They are popular because they look cool. -_-

Oh, and I'd like to see your source because I don't believe you.

I hope to god that's not the case. If the symbiotes are in either Spider-Man 5 and 6, I will cry.

Why, as long as it's not in the hands of Raimi, in 5 and 6, it'll be fine. Trust me.

Carnage is as 2-dimensional as one can be. Venom is as overrated and overused in media as one can be. Venom will get his own movie and has already been used in the Spidey franchise.

So yeah, if Venom and/or Carnage will have main parts in future films, it's what I'd call major fiasco. Especially when we have unused villains such as Lizard, Kraven, Electro, Mysterio, Scorpion, Hobgoblin, Shocker and more.

To me the best part of it is there´s a plan for the next three movies, so you shouldn´t have major plot points that would feel too tacked on like the twist on Ben´s death in SM 3.

I´m not much into the idea of replacing Raimi, Maguire and Dunst after they have been in three movies already, and made a strong stamp on the franchise, but who knows.

I liked Raimi's Venom. Go ahead and shoot me but I did. Mainly because Venom was so different than he was in the comic books.

But bringing him back would need a stupid explanation. How does a guy that turned into a freaking skeleton come back to life without it being ridiculous? Plus, what he is gonna do? Fight Spider-Man all the time? He served his purpose in Spider-Man 3, let him stay dead dammit!

And Carnage sucks. Whatever they do with Carnage it will suck. I have never liked him and never will. I will admit that I did like Venom for not so many years ago but not so much now. But Carnage however, no, I would be very sad if he makes it into the movies along with a stupid return of Venom. Ugh...

Agree! That's why I'd rather have Vanderbilt (or someone else who's great at focusing on story and character developement) write in a future reboot of the series and hopefully stay in the crew. That way, we'd have a franchise without plotholes and with a good connection where villains such as Green Goblin doesn't die in his first appearance.

I can see the Lizard, Shocker, Electro, Hobgoblin, and Kraven working out in future films and I would love to see them portrayed onscreen.

I agree, that there is a strong chemical bond that holds together their onscreen chemistry now, that they have filmed three spiderman films together.

Exactly, that is what they will be.

Yeah, but some people are under the impression that Sony will do a TIH-type revival with 5 & 6. Nope, a new Peter Parker and Mary Jane but it'll follow what happens in the first four movies.

I don't think anyone is under that impression. People are throwing ideas out there to how Sony would treat the Spider-Man franchise without the director or actors returning.

We still don't know exactly what they'd do. A lot of it is speculation at this point.

That's possible too. I'd still consider them sequels.

Infamous_Emijayne from Counting Down said this a while back. Don't know if it's true or not. Makes sense though.
