Alvin Sargent is correct. What are we all going to do? I am scared.

Alvin Sargent didn't write the script, he's polishing it. James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) wrote both scripts for the reboot and its sequel. There's a big difference between writing the script and polishing it.

Although I prefer him not even polishing it, but he's bangin' Laura Ziskin, and she's the only one who can find the old man work.

Come on Kaw. You KNOW Logic is lost on him. Abandon ALL HOPE all Ye who try to use logic on him and "his like" (that was for ALL the ones claiming ALL the Raimi haters are "band wagoning" :woot:)

And I agree... Sargent shouldn't be polishing ANYTHING but perhaps Laura ZAiskin's "silver"ware"

It's needed, trust me. If you disagree then say so and move on. My skin is as thick as the Rhino's ass. Why does it bother people so much, disagreeing is the grand part of these boards?

in that case u must get your ass kicked alot huh? :P

Exactly. It's all part of a stupid bandwagon. It's funy how whenever we say this, they never respond.

I still feel all the folks who have a burning hatred for SM3 can just go climb up their thumbs.
was SM3 perfect? heck no, but it is nowhere near as bad as ppl make it out to be.

If their were people who disliked it, did they have the balls to speak out and stand by their opinion in the predominantly Raimi loved days?

Yes we did and most people were banned for their views simply because such opinions were a minority and naturally riled everyone else up, which subsequently led to flame wars and the such like. I'm almost annoyed that 98% of the complaints most people have now and are vocal about were adressed and was forseen by posters years ago. They're either gone or posting under new accounts and just cant be bothered tyo get all worked up and repeat what they said years ago while there were being persecuted. The reprieve is, we have a reboot which is shaping up nicely and have another chance for a possibly better adaptation.

I find this funny and depressing, but doesn't this have a few qualities similar to the reboot costume?

Mainly the torso and blue fingers.
Blue fingers and hardly a belt visible from the front

Kinda looks like he's a thief coming out of a bank

As a guy who's been here since the first film dropped, the spidey boards have made a complete 180.

Raimi's spider-Man used to be the greatest thing EVER. Better than any comic book movie ever made. So great that Batman and Superman in the same movie couldnt beat it at the box office.

Now, people kinda treat it like the Burton/Schumacher films.

Doc Jones is right, if Webb's Spider-Man is more faithful to the comics and more fanboy friendly, more people will turn on Raimi. There will be "Raimi vs Webb" threads littered all over the place. The same thing happened on the Bat-Boards after "Batman Begins".
Exactly!

Back in 2006, which is when i joined, there were so many users that loved Raimi. There are actually a few now who loved Rami then and hate him now, tbh. I remember one specififcally (not giving names) that said "I guess the floor Sam walks on", and now he says "Yes....the boring Raimi's costume". IT's jsut all a bunch of BS.

I was here in 2006 and I saw what whent on and it's the exact opposite of what's happening now. Bashers can change/distort it all they want, but it's the truth. Sure, there was a small percentage of people who didn't like the films, but like every other very opoular franchises, it was a small amount, while the majority loved them.

Personally, I loved Raimi's films and I loved his interpreatation overall. He took some things fom the comics and combined them with his own twists to make a great story overall. Why is that a bad thing? That's wht comic book films are. Interpretations. Kind of like how Ultimate Spider-man is an interpretation or Spider-Man: Noire, etc.

Raimi's Spider-man is the best Comic book film franchise of all time, IMO, and I hope for the same from Webb.

Raimi had mistakes (serious ones) but his movies were good, with the notable exception of the third one.

He's got many things right, and was responsible for a wave of efforts in getting comic book accurate depictions that culminate in movies like Iron Man, thoroughly respectful of the original material and also new and inventive.

Whats with all this 'raimi haterz are just flip-flopping' tripe. I've monitored the spider-man boards since before the first movie came out, and there were always huge groups of people who were pissed off about:
*the organics
*the goblin suit
*The lack of jokes from spidey
*the casting
*the raised webs etc.
And I was one of them. Saying that 'they' all just changed their opinion of the trilogy after the third movie is stupid, yet surprisingly I hear it all the time. Along with: they (raimi haterz) all ask for something and then when they get it they complain... no dumbass maybe YOU'RE just mixing the opinions of different people. Get your nose out Raimi's crack and stop over generalising people. Some of us never liked his vision of spidey.

P.S. I actually wasn't disappointed with the third movie, because after the first two I knew not to expect something perfect. I was just happy that they put more emphasis on the action.

I could complain all day about some aspects of the films but you'd still be able to find them on my DVD shelf--twice over including the Blu-rays--and every now and then you'd even be able to catch me watching them. What is it with people being so extreme? Can you not like something and notice its faults? Does everybody with something negative to say have to be riding this geeky bandwagon and be labelled a hater? And are the people who jumped ship and landed on the wagon not allowed to change their opinion? Even after they were let down? It's human nature to allow the bad to taint the good--similar to The Matrix trilogy (I still love the first one but I'd be a lying bastard if I denied the other two took a bit of the shine off).

I LOVE pizza but hate it when the cheese comes off and burns my chin. Am I a pizza hater? No. It's just that nothing is perfect. EVERYTHING can be faulted if you're being honest with yourself.

Shall we drop the extremities now?

^^ It's fine if people don't like them, but it's another when one film that they found dissapointing changes their whole look on the franchise as well as the director himself. I mean, is it really a coincidence that poeple started to bash Raimi the most when the reboot was announced?

Well no one was really posting here before that, so no, it isn't a coincidence.

When it comes to how many people are *****ing about the new suit, I can't wait for next year already. I want to see how many people(as usual)will change their tune once they see the film. That's how it always is. Some people will stay hate it, and with good reasons hopefully, but a gopd number of you will change your tune, I guarantee it.

Well man, I mean... OF COURSE. What's so revolutionary about your theory?

I will be certainly here if I think the suit works on screen saying so. I already said this but I hated the SR Superman suit untill I saw it on screen. I hated the first Batman suit back in 1989 (and Michael Keaton as Batman) untill I saw the movie.

I have zero problem admitting that the suit actually works. But the game is like this; you critizise what you can see the way it is presented to you.

Ugh, MORE Webb vs Raimi? Webb hasn't DONE anything! Please give me a film I can watch before we compare.

These fights are stupid. Can't we appreciate both? I enjoy the Nolan Batman films, but guess what? I love Burton's too! Blasphemy, I know, but if the reboot ends up being good (which again, we don't know), that doesn't mean Raimi's films suck. Their different franchises. These ludicrous fights are a waste.

Basically. Great post S-Fan.

:whatever:

Please. Those who were banned were banned for just reasons. Trolling, flaming, and being all around jerks, among other infractions. And yes, you can have a differing view and express it without trolling, which the overwhelming majority of people did. Don't act like some anti-Raimi genocide occurred. People get banned every week and it has never had anything to do with what they thought. Step down from your crucifix.

...well, yes, that IS how things go. Come next year, we will actually be able to see the movie and the suit the way it was intended which naturally will give people the chance to reconsider the suit's worth. While I don't like the suit, I can admit that set pictures never do a film justice.

You can only judge a film by what you see in the theater. I don't understand why you're insinuating this change of mind once seeing the picture (a completely natural and logical evolution of one's opinion) is a bad thing.

I thought The Incredibles looked like a stupid movie, but upon seeing it, I fell in love with it. You're pretty much saying that evolution is ludicrous.

We're never going to agree with what happened in the past, so for the love of God, let's look forward, as Spider-Man fans, for this fresh start, that's all I'm saying.

I love how you think polishing is something so little that whatever he writes won't have any effect on the script. Start praying now. The world is going to end.
