Is showing the suit being made really that important?

Are you serious? You wouldn't want to see him create the suit?

Raimi just showed Peter draw, while Webb could actually show us how he MAKES the suit and that's something that you wouldn't want to see?

It's not a deal breaker like some posters make it out to be. A lot of people hung up on getting to see parker create the suit MAY be sorely disappointed on seeing how he actually makes it. we're not going to see him make the whole thing. best guess is a quick shot of him at a sewing machine and at the (where he buys his shoes?) footlocker.

Christ, you're complaining about the shoes now...it's a cycle with these complaints.

Seeing him sewing his suit is just fine, even if we don't see him make the entire thing. Heck, we see him sewing something even during that trailer.

People aren't wanting to see him make the entire suit, but we are wanting to see something else besides him drawing the damn thing.

You're making something outta nothing. I didn't complain about his shoes, I gave you an idea on what I thought may happen. So, if their is a shot of him sewing his suit up for 5 seconds you're happy? On another note, do you really think he could piece that suit together? Parkers got some serious sewing skills.

No, I just know everyone who has complaints over the suit say the same exact thing in the same exact order, and your nudge on the shoes is no different.

But, yes, a couple of seconds or minutes of him sewing is fine because we only saw a few seconds of Raimi's Peter drawing.

And would him piecing the suit together be any more difficult of wondering how Peter created a suit with raised webbing?

Do you think having the webbing engraved in the suit is less of a challenge then laying strips of web on a suit?

It's like talking to a wall.

And don't make a post with another dumb question..."do you know any walls that talk back?"

hmm interesting, I figured my question was reasonable. Strange you didn't answer. Im assuming your answer would've been "no" which drove you to steering the topic in the direction of insults. :cwink:

No, my answer would be you're thinking way too much into it. I want to see Peter working on the costume which we never got in Raimi's films. That's it. To compare what would be more difficult is easy mostly because Webb's suit looks like a suit a teenager can create, Raimi's suit does not.

I thought you were getting into the whole raised webbing aspect of the suit which is what made me ask that question.

By saying that it would be more difficult for Peter to make a suit with raised webbing.

Which suit would be easier for YOU to create?

in terms of raimi's suit there is a contradiction: the novels say someone else made and gave him the suit (i forgot who) while SM2 makes it seem like he made it

Novelizations are ALWAYS different from the movie, and should never be considered even remotely "canon".

I think seeing him make the suit is kinda important to his character, equally as important as seeing him make the webshooters. I mean, thats what makes Peter Parker special, is that he's a DIY hero. He doesn't have the experience or the capability of a trained hero like Captain America or Wolverine, and he can be more naive than the NYC heroes he often encounters like DD or Punisher, but he has the most heart and sense of responsibility, he's guided by an incredibly strong moral compass, and I think those early stages of seeing him build his identity as a hero are crucial in showing what drives him forward. It's not just the powers that make the hero, which seemed to be the case in the Raimi movies.

I'm going to say right now that the new suit has grown on me a little the past couple of months: I wasn't sure at first, but I came down and now think it's pretty good. I think with me, it looks a little far from the Spiderman suit I LOVED from the Raimi series, and I still can't remove that comparison from my head.

I won't let it get in the way at the same time though; hopefully with this new suit, we'll get to see the evolution of it and actually see Peter assembling and making it, because in a way I kind of believe that he's capable of making a suit like this, in opposition to Toby's. LOL I'm sure though that with more action packed footage and watching Garfield carry out the character will make me appreciate this new Spiderman a lot more; costume and all. :word:

Im really digging the new suit, it'll make this spider-man really stand out as its own incarnation more. More unique

I don't exactly like the new suit but, like batman BB cowl, unless it actively makes him look bad then it's not the kind of thing I have the energy to care about.

What is really the big stretch with Peter in the old film making the damn suit? Forget all the bts stuff with the silk screening. Is it really really unfeasible for this guy to make one or tow suits and only those two suits? The new suit is just as custom as the old one.

This is my first time posting on the Spiderman boards here, I came here to say this...

The new costume looks god awful. Maybe it's the guy's body that makes it look bad, but I just cringe every time I see pictures of him as Spiderman. Could be the eyes too, they seem kind of.. small.

Toby Mcquire's Spiderman looked perfect imo.

That's why you felt compelled to come out of lurking just to say that? Hmmm. Alright. The damn thing doesn't even look that different then the original. Or, to put it in another perspective, the difference between this Spidey suit and the original is directly proportionate to the difference between the Batsuit from any and all of the major motion pictures and the Batsuit from the comics. And beyond that, it's extremely important for it to be plausible for him to make it. Further more, if you take the suit on its own merits, its actually totally bad ass.

I'm not a lurker, I have 200 posts and I've been around since 07... I just haven't visited this sub-forum.

And I'm not really interested in the science and depth behind the costume, I'm simply looking for an enjoyable film. I won't let a *****ty costume ruin my percpetion of the film, don't get me wrong, but I can't deny that I wish it lived up to the expectations of the previous costume.

The new Spiderman just looks awkward as hell. But as I said, I'm going to see this movie regardless of it, and I wont let it ruin my experience of watching the movie. I just wanted to share my opinion here about it. There's nothing wrong with negative opinions, if everyone just praised everything, we'd live in a pretty damn dull world.

What do you mean by awkward? I don't see anything awkward about it. Those garish raised, rubber(?), silver webs on the original costume always bugged me and struck me as very awkward. They almost look like something Schumacher would deign attractive.
