The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Reboot Costume Part 4 - "What's that in his eye??" edition

What do you mean by awkward? I don't see anything awkward about it. Those garish raised, rubber(?), silver webs on the original costume always bugged me and struck me as very awkward. They almost look like something Schumacher would deign attractive.
After looking at the pictures closely, a few things just seem "off" to me...

1 - The guy's body. He doesn't appear to have as an impressive of a build as Tobey's Spiderman had (with the padding underneath) And I'm fine with a skinny Spiderman, as a lot of comics have him like that, but this new guy just doesn't seem proportionally appealing, he looks skinny-fat (as in, wide stomache and waiste/skinny arms and legs)

2 - The eyes look to small for my taste

3 - I don't like how there's so much blue coloring on the front of his costume.

I implore to watch the trailer again. Specifically scene in which he is sewing his costume. Then tell me he doesn't look physically fit.

...How is he "skinny-fat"?

Forgot all about those pictures. Yeah. Not even that skinny. Looks ripped.

They went for the design change in order for the webbing to stand out more on camera. It's the same reason why they made his crotch black in this new costume. There are reasons for everything.

Please stop.

The crotch isn't even black on purpose, lol.

It's because of battle wounds and what not. As how the suit received black marks on other places from the pics we've seen, the crotch area is no exception.

Uhhh...no. It's black in the set photos where there is no other black. The reason? Who knows. Maybe it's for "crotch-hiding" purposes, or...I dunno. But it is/was.

It's also black in the trailer.

That's what we thought, but the black continues up the leg and there is some on the arm, so a small part of me says it's shading, unless the arm and leg parts are shading and the crotch is just black.

Until we get a still from the movie/screenshot where he's standing and his crotch is black, I won't believe it.

That is just beyond stupid. Why would they give him a black crotch, like, seriously?

They probably didn't think that many people would be so interested in Spidey's crotch :o

Well, why would they so drastically change Spidey's iconic suit? :o

But, yeah, you're right. Especially since they specifically said they were doing things to hide his "bulge" and that black crotch is the opposite.

Oh, I'd like to note that the crotch on the action figure is in fact blue, if that's any indication of anything.

Yeah, that settles my fears on the subject, but they won't be put to rest until I see it for realz.

That's another thing entirely.

By giving him a black crotch, it's essentially drawing a sign saying "look at me".

And I just saw VenomSpawn's comment, I forgot about that. Thank God there's no black crotch. :D

All this crotch talk...

Seriously though, I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it. The way the new costume is designed, for some reason, draws the eye to the crotch. I think it's the red chest plate. Without connecting to a belt, it looks like an arrow pointing downward to... you know.

Hopefully it won't even be noticable onscreen. But in the photos, for some reason, the crotch is a focal point. I'm not exaggerating here... the suit is literally uncomfortable to look at in some shots.

I think it's black because being a solid color separate from the blue would make it easier to (for lack of better word) 'photoshop'. Don't believe me? Look at one of the latest pictures in the Official Picture thread. The one where he's crouched over a manhole. Digital magic at work, folks...

It's black because he went the first time Lizard appeared. Scary stuff for a teen, those stains will never come out

It's still black in that picture, just not AS black.

And I think people are looking too much into this....we can just wait and see, but I doubt the crotch area is just black for no reason at all. I'll still go with grease marks/battle wounds.

As sloppy as the action figure may look, it still has every detail down. (silver shoes and everything)... and that doesn't have a black crotch.
