Having Kirk in a relationship is a mistake and takes away from the funniest part of the character. He's left a trail of women in his wake and even after WOK didn't get back with Carol...as he was with a woman named Antonia in Generations

Aren't you the one who's always saying that things can be different from what has come before? I'm not terribly upset by this but it just seems that they could have at least kept her around in some capacity...

Yes things can be different but this is one aspect of the character that I want them to keep. Could they have kept her...sure...but I am not broken up about it

George Takei reviews the trailer. Not surprising but to be fair, you're not going to get a nuanced view on societal issues in a 90 second trailer, not that I expect the actual movie will either.

As for the fates of Alice Eve‘s character Carol Marcus (who joined the crew at the end of Into Darkness but is absent from this adventure) and Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Khan, don’t expect any answers in this story:

We pick [the crew] up about two and a half years after the end of Into Darkness. But there was many iterations where we did go and explore. At the end of the day, I just felt like we’re two and a half years in. What we shot and what’s gonna be in theaters, quantity wise it’s quite a bit. But then to be honest, I actually had even more beyond that. So that’s something that we definitely talked about and worked on. In the presentation of this film, it didn’t quite fit in.

I'd be fine with that but it's strange to introduce Carol and do nothing else with her and not mention where she is.

Just from that short trailer, the new Alien lady already looks like a better character than Carol. Carol was only in the last film to attract teenage boys. The Megan Fox of the franchise. No great loss.

And Carol Marcus did contribute to the plot. It was her that got them to inspect the torpedoes and she saved Bones's life and she told Kirk that the dreadnaught ship could catch them at warp. It was too late but she tried. And she got her father to stop blasting the Enterprise allowing Scotty time to disable the dreadnaught.

In the Bay produced Ninja Turtles Megan Fox is in a sexy school girl outfit. That one horrible and crass scene in Into Darkness does not add up to the Carol character being treated like Fox's character in the Transformers movies. Where is the scene in Into Darkness where Carol has her leg humped by a horny robot?

I think people expected better from JJ and Star Trek than to have a discount Megan Fox type character in the film. It was just the randomness of the character in general, I feel.

Zoe had a scene in her undies in the first film yet people don't complain about that. So I don't think its just that scene.

Eve was in the movie for two scenes. her underwear victoria secret scene and the scene they used in the trailer where she screams. thats why the studio wanted her. look good and scream.


but Eve being a good actress suprised in other scenes where she only talks. to bad she didnt have a scene with Uthura. but we can not expect this from male writters and male directors.

its the way it was directed. composition and how they told her to stand.
she looked literally like she was posing for a magazine.
