Aaand I just saw the new TV Spot.... It really is spoilery.

Spoilers below:

[BLACKOUT]So basically, Elba's character wasn't initially an alien, but became one at a certain point?[/BLACKOUT] I am a bit confused.

Anyway, seeing it in 6 days and will find out myself... Still wished they hadn't shown this, though.

Watched the first Abrams ST agin tonight, first time I had seen it in a while, had forgot how good it was. Wasn't a huge fan of the old movies except First Contact, but love the new movies and Abrams first one is still a really good movie.

ID next which I also did enjoy personally.

Thanks for the heads up Vile.

Insurrection was bad because it was like a bad episode of the show.

If the Best of Both Worlds was a film instead of just a two parter I don't think anyone would complain.

True.

I would say people are meaning that in a good way that might give the film more appeal to older school fans.

That's good, it's cinematic but feels like something that could have been seen in the OS?

True.

Yes.

To be as clear as possible:

It's scale is cinematic, but it's a narrative that is very reminiscent to a typical TOS episode. Outside of what happens to the Enterprise.

Okay. That I can definitely dig.

So does that mean it's more philosophical and intellectual like ST than the other two or is it more or less like a modern blockbuster?

Everyone please be forewarned. A new Star Trek Beyond TV spot got released today and it has a MAJOR PLOT SPOILER IN IT! Do not watch the FINAL COUNTDOWN TV spot unless you want a major element of the plot spoiled for you. And I mean major plot spoiler.

Like I'm genuinely surprised and disappointed Paramount spoiled this.

Too late for me.

I'm surprised because I mean the trailers already revealed that the Enterprises bites the big one in this film. But they kept most of the rest of the film under wraps.

I just don't get why they would reveal this. I have no idea how the film is tracking now, and I also have no idea why revealing this helps the film's marketing.

Supposedly the Terminator Genisys material spoiled the big reveal because marketing execs believed they needed something big to help the movie.

that was way too spoily although i heard possable spoiler previously
that Krill was once starfleet officer left behind on planet who found a way to survive on planet and his grudge against federation is because he was left to die.

Tng and the movies have really distorted the fact that he original series was comprised of a whole lot of torn shirts and Judo chops.

just saw that tv spot why the f would they put that in there? way to spoil the movie paramount

Really feel lucky I haven't seen the spot, plus typically always watch TV on DVR these days so no risk in seeing it (unless somebody at a theater talks about, hopefully not).

EW just posted a story about the spoiler and like an idiot I clicked on the link and read it. Damn.

Maybe they felt it was needed [BLACKOUT]to show that Elba was in this and thus show his real face since if you didn't already know or recognize his voice, the general audience may not know he's in it[/BLACKOUT].

Star Trek has a bad habit of

Leaving people behind and them coming back angry and vengeful like Khan

To me that makes no sense.

Watching 'The Voyage Home' for the first time and Sulu says something you can't help but see in a different light somewhat with the whole gay Sulu angle being in the news...

"San Francisco... I was born there."

ADDING: Just saw online San Francisco plays a much stronger role in Trek than Sulu's birth place, but the two seemed oddly connected.

Also I'd say so far this is my favorite of the old Trek films. Always loved it when Bond came to America and the Planet of the Apes film where they arrive on Earth. Just the whole taking the other and putting it into a foreign environment that's natural to you has always been interesting to me.

How the heck does that even happen? [Blackout]Did he get bit by an alien bug and mutate or some ****? [/Blackout]

This is confusing.

I've got this strange feeling that it will be explained in the movie.

Hope it holds.

Just imagine what might have been if Orci had remained.

Has been officially green lit.

Paramount plans fourth StarTrek film in new series http://thr.cm/MJKnUq

Paramount Pictures, Skydance and Bad Robot have made it official that the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise will return to the big screen for another outing.
In the next installment of Star Trek, Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk will cross paths with a man he never had a chance to meet but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father. The move has been rumored but never confirmed by the studio.
Chris Hemsworth, who appeared in 2009’s Star Trek, will return to the space saga as George Kirk to star alongside Pine.
The remaining cast also is expected to return wiith the exception of Anton Yelchin, who passed away last month and had played Chekov in the past three incarnations.
J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will write the screenplay. J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber will produce through Bad Robot Productions. David Ellison and Dana Goldberg of Skydance will executive produce.

Paramount must be confident in Beyond doing well, it's usually after the opening weekend that the studio greenlights the sequel.

Am disappointed Orci's co-writers are scripting the fourth pic, hopefully Pegg and Doug Jung will do a rewrite like they did this time.
